Shivnaraine Chandrapaul. Dude just stuck around like with a fevicol.

For the recent past- Kohli. Especially when its a pressure game. Like a Ind vs Pak or a qualifier. He THRIVES pressure situations.

The players I have seen of in the last decade, it has to be Sangakkara. The guy never seemed like getting out. Followed by Angelo Mathews, which may not be many people's choice, but he had a great peak, though for a very short period of 15 months or so when he was scoring 50 after 50 in every match. His peak coincided with his first stint as captain, was averaging like 80 in his first 20 matches as captain. There is something about these guys, whether it's grit, determination, willpower, indomitable spirit. Of players currently, it's Kohli and Smith.

Overall, I really admire Sri Lankan players. They really punched above their weights and became a dominant force in world cricket. They are quite underrated too, were the finalists of 2007, 2011 world cups and also were successful in t20 world cups before finally getting the hands on the trophy in 2014. Something the likes of Bangladesh and South Africa have to learn and emulate.

I find SL batsmen very hard to dismiss. Kumar Sangakarra, Sanath Jayasuriya, Aravinda De Silva, Hashan Tillekaratne, etc. all played Pakistani bowlers of the 90s very well.

Dravid faced 109 deliveries on average in each inning before getting out. Not sure if anyone else is around the same range.

You forgot Atapattu. He was almost impossible to dislodge once set. Played plenty of long innings against Pakistan.

Steve Waugh, Dravid, Kallis, Langer, Atapattu, Sangakkara, Chanderpaul. These days, Kohli.

Statistically, Chanderpaul and then Steve Waugh. They top the Not Out listings.

Then Kallis.

This is a relatively easy one to answer by looking at balls per dismissal with some minimum qualifications (avg>40, balls faced>5000).

The historical answer is Sutcliffe at 163 balls per dismissal followed by Bradman at 139 but both players played in a prehistoric era and I am going to exclude them.

In the modern era (ie post 1970s), the top 5 are Boycott (124 balls per dismissal), Dravid (123), Border (122), Kallis (120) and Chanderpaul (118) in order.

Amongst current batsmen, it is Azhar Ali by a landslide at 112 balls per dismissal. The only other active players to break 100 balls per dismissal are Pujara, Smith, Williamson and Misbah who all do it barely.

Kohli does not belong in this discussion.

TL;DR. Boycott or Dravid. Currently, Azhar Ali.

Oh yeah! SL batsmen have usually done well vs Pakistan. I think Pakistan is the only team against which Jayasuriya averaged 50+ in tests.

Dhoni in LOI's is very very difficult to dislodge and won innumerable matches for us, lately he has started getting out cheaply. In tests Dravid the wall.
