This is my selection of batsmen on a turning wicket against an all spin bowling attack.

Virendra Sehwag

Sunil Gavaskar

Zaheer Abbas

Brian Lara

Sachin Tendulkar

Ian Chappell

Kumar Sangakkara

Even if he was as explosive as lightning few ever equalled Sehwag on a vicious turner. He proved it in Sri Lanka when scoring 201.Gavaskar was a revelation against the turning all which he proved in Bangalore v Pakistan on a broken pitch in 1987 when scoring 96.No batsman batted more in a Bradmanesque fashion than Zaheer Abbas like against India i 1978-79 when scoring 583 runs at an average of 195and 650 runs at an avergae of 130 in 1982-83.Lara took domination against spin bowling to metaphysical proportion sin Sri Lanka in 2003 when aggregating 688 runs.Tendulkar mercilessly destroyed Warne like no batsman ever at Madras and Sharjah in 1998.Ian Chappel displayed wonderful footwork and skill in India in 1969-70 coming down the pitch to play the likes of Prasanna and Bedi.Sanga's record simply speaks for itself.

Few people come to mind.

Navjot Sidhu - murdered both Warne and Murali.

Saeed Anwar - great record against Warne in Australia, Kumble in India and Murali in Sri Lanka.

Salim Malik - the first batsman to conquer Warne.

Mark Waugh, Graham Gooch, Younis Khan, Cook, Laxman, Hashim Amla and Michael Clarke also very fine players of spin in my time.

PBH May - got 280 on a WI turner against Ramadhin and Valentine, who had spun out England in England.

On a turning pitch all batsmen are sitting ducks unless your name is Gavaskar!

So I'd say:

Sunny, Anwar, SRT, Lara, YK and KP.

SR Tendulkar
Kumar Sangakkara
Virender Sehwag
Younis Khan
Sunil Gavaskar
Brian Lara
Rahul Dravid
Mahela Jayawardene
Zaheer Abbas
Alastair Cook

Also ran:

Sidhu, Salim Malik, Mahela, Sanga are also known good players of spin but the above mentioned just edge it for me.

Sehwag is a must have in such a team.

Last thing you wanna do in such a situation is being made to bat long. Sehwag if he fires takes you to your target in rather quick time. :)) :))

Thanks a lot for that.Any other Englishman?Like my choices?

Sure. If it was a turner in England then Sehwag might struggle to get through the new ball though.

Gower had a very fine record in Pakistan against Qadir.

Probably could think of a swap between Yoni and Zak

Also Miandad for Azhar bhai? Hearts says no though. Azhar bhai is Azhar bhai. :kapil
