If you are nature lover than Cape Town must be the best place on earth

The Big Apple

The Capital of the World

The Center of the Universe

The Big City

The City So Nice They Named It Twice

The City That Never Sleeps

The Melting Pot

The Empire City

THE ONE AND ONLY: New York, New York

Brisbane.
Terrible place, not even remotely close to being compared with SYD and Melbourne.

To answer your question Melbourne. Voted most liveable city for a couple of years in a row. Need I say anymore?

NY has far too many slums and gang related isssues.

LOL at Perth, Seattle, and Vancouver. :))
I'm presuming you've actually read or been to those cities.

Van Couver is beautiful and the general population is fairly considerate of ones cultural/religious beliefs.

Again I doubt you've been to Perth or know about the intricacies of the city.

Melbourne also has its issues e.g. homeless people and crime (Brisbane is safer).

If I had a lot of money, I'd live in e6 or e7 in islamabad. That place is just mind blowing.

you prefer toronto over montreal seriously??

from what ive heard from many friends and read it goes 1. vancouver, 2.montreal and then others

Like a couple of other blokes said, Islamabad. It's gotta be the most beautiful place you've seen. Lovely how you can get the beauty and serenity of living in a countryside hill station but also all modern amenities that we look for in the West. Islamabad wins over any other city in the world.

However, Lahore Lahore hai kyunkay jin'nay Lahore ni wekhaya oh jamaya he nhi.

Singapore city, good climate, diff cultures, progressive attitude.

The partiality to Toronto is not surprising, there are enough reasons for people not to like the city --climate,not so great infrastructure, lower white collar jobs from top of my head(comparatively).

Vancouver has housing bubble but atleast the city is more nature friendly.

I respect your opinion but the last time I was in Toronto, I felt like I was in jail. The winters are the harshest I've seen and it's a pain to leave the house. The summers are fun though.

Seattle and Vancouver are pretty good cities
We're talking about the best city in the world. Not random places that are "pretty good."

I lived in both places.
Montreal is consistently The worst big city in Canada for last several years.

Does London include the towns outside of London proper itself? I don't actually like central London itself much, but there are some really nice suburbs if you go a bit further out where it's less crowded.

Montreal is an excellent place to visit.. Not so good to live there.

If I was going to Canada as a tourist Van-city and Montreal would be my two main destinations. However, this thread is about livability and Toronto consistently beats Montreal in that regard. The city managers of Montreal are corrupt and half the city is dug up at any given time. They will build a street, and then six months later dig it up again and rebuild. Toronto offers a better standard of living, higher paying jobs and excellent civic services. The crime in Toronto is also substantially lower than Montreal.

Dubai is best, it has everything world class, cosmopolitan city, excellent variety of food, I love evening breeze. People are beautiful and friendly.

Yes, Dubai is definitely up there.

Surprised to see a no-name like Montreal in the poll as opposed to world reknown "Dubai."

No Indian city should ever be an option on any of these kind of lists.

All Indian cities are dumps. Garbage, over populated, pollution and dust.

I visited poor Caribbean nations and even they have better living conditions and infra than cities like Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai...

The best city I have lived in so far has to be Tampabay or Dallas.

Cities like NJ, NY are all over crowded and unclean.

Toronto! Growing up here I feel deep rooted here. I live in Ottawa right now and I can tell you what a difference t there is.
I am however biased, Vancouver def takes the cake

There is nothing better than chilling out at Cape Town's Newlands stadium

British newspaper The Telegraph chose the University of Cape Town as the third most beautiful university in the world. Oxford University was first followed by Harvard.

You included Lahore and Karachi in the list, but not Peshawar and Islamabad, why is that so?

Islamabad is the best city to live in, for me.

This is best cities in the World! Not Pakistan. Imagine a list of 20 cities with 4 of them being Pakistani. That's an extremely narrow minded list. Anyways, there is a reason that Karachi and Lahore get all the limelight, because they are bigger and better.

Can't really say, haven't visited most of them in the list, so can't compare/contrast. Though, I've always had an affinity for Vancouver.

Barcelona - great food, culture, nightlife, weather and above all affordable.

If I were to raise a family though it would be somewhere by LA. SoCal is heaven on earth.

Cape Town has a long summer, 8 months and we have the best beaches, most of them with mountain backdrops

Khi and Lhr better than Isloo :o ... ??
Also big shouldn't be the criteria or Pindi and Faisalbad are better than Isloo too.

Khi and Lhr are more lively and happening but if you have family and friends than Isloo is he best place in Pak to live. Isloo's weak point is it isnt a happening place like Khi or Lhr but that can be balanced if you have family and friends there.

Dubai is too artificial and not mentioning unless your a millionaire or have an excellent payed job it's unfeasible to live there.

Tbh, most of the cities don't have great residential lifestyles. Especially the downtown sections.

Melbourne also has its issues e.g. homeless people and crime (Brisbane is safer).
Brisbane doesn't deserve a mention along side Sydney and Melbourne.

It's the most boring city in Australia (Yep, even Adelaide has some people walking around in the city on a Sunday evening unlike Brisbane)

Melbourne is the world's most liveable city for a sixth consecutive year, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).

Need I say anymore?

Lol at people mentioning Islamabad, such blind patriotism. Pakistan won't even feature in the top 50 countries to live given all the problems that we have, and people are mentioning Islamabad. :))

It is impossible to judge the entire world unless one has lived in every major city. In the UK it has to be Edinburgh for sure. It is a mixture between ancient Scotland and today's modern cosmopolitan city. People are mostly well educated, the city has lots to offer and is also very clean as well. It should certainly be on the list not as "other". http://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.c...ty-in-the-uk-for-third-year-running-1-4104729

haha yess :p but still Isloo is the best in the 7-8 cities I have lived in :p

For me it has to be LONDON.

Plenty of Opportunities to help you progress your career. Easy Traveling everywhere with great transport links.
Awash with diverse cultures and is second to none for the creative industries, with a plethora of opportunities in singing, writing, acting, art, design and photography.

You Can’t Get Bored and the food of all Nationalities available right on your doorstep including Halaal.

NYC is great, but Karachi will always be on top for me. If you're from an upper-middle class family, Karachi is heaven.

How are you liking the States so far?

Islamabad is one of the most beautiful city. I have visited hundreds of western cities and I can say this with confidence.

Islamabad just need different country and people.

It really depends on what you want from a city.

I may be quite biased, but I would say Auckland.

So much to do around here, nothing is far in New Zealand especially if you love nature and adventure. People here are extremely friendly, and there is a very high level of acceptance of other people here. Probably one of the most mulitucltural cities in the world. Not to mention it's extremely peaceful, and you generally won't be working the long hours you do in many other countires.

Islamabad hasn't been great for years now. Since 2010 it has turned into a mini Lahore and is now only marginally better than the average Pakistani city which is to say it's pretty much on it's way to becoming borderline uninhabitable. Source: Lived there on and off since 1996.

Islamabad.

Peaceful, beautiful, quality life and more than anything apnay log.

If I had a lot of money, I'd live in e6 or e7 in islamabad. That place is just mind blowing.

My dunyawi, mean, materialistic dream is " Intellectual Village "

Yes a lot of construction going on in recent years and the green belts are dissapearing.
I have lived in Karachi , Lahore, and Faisalabad each for some months and i can say with confidence that Isloo even with recent changes is still better than these cities. And isnt dull (like the perception) too if you have family and friends.

If that is the criteria, then HK is the most livable city. People here don't sleep at all.

I lived in islamabad in 89-90 and I loved the city.
I would take your word that it is changed as I visited islamabad some 10 years ago and that was a short visit to assess anything.

Is CDA to blame for this change?

Is CDA to blame for this change?

Partly. CDA hasn't had a decent head since Kamran Lashari. Most of the issues are similar to other cities i.e. overpopulation and associated issues. One issue that may not be an issue for others is the proliferation of unregistered madrasas sprouting up all over the city which has resulted in a noticeable change in the city's atmosphere. Everyone from Jamat ud Dawa to Lal Masjid has a madrassa and the city has become just like any other city in Pakistan.

Don't know about the World but in the UK North Yorkshire is constantly voted as one of the if not the best places in the UK to live in. So I'd have to say York

Lol at people mocking Islamabad, and calling it blind patriotism.

Islamabad may not be advanced like some other cities, but the heart is content there, so for me its the best city to live in.

P.S: Islamabad is the capital of the future super power.

The best city in the world is different for different people. I love the natural beauty of mother earth. Cape town has it all
