These competitions are not a level playing field. Not all countries have a Billion Plus Population so talented countries like Iran and Uzbekistan will always come short to China.

I don't think population has anything to do with it. Going by what you're saying, in the Olympics, let's take for example 2016, China should be on top and India should be second. This wasn't the case.

Jamaica has more Gold medals in the Olympics then Pakistan. Comes down to how much grassroots development, culture, and resources are available.
