In this list I am revealing in order of merit my list of the cricketers who took the quality of determination to it's highest zenith. They were not neccesarily the most talented but when the team's back was to the wall displayed grit at it's supreme intensity-the hallmark of a great sportsman.

1.Dennis Lillee
2.Imran Khan
3.Geoff Boycott
4.Sunil Gavaskar
5.Alan Border
6.Steve Waugh
7.Javed Miandad
8.Ian Chappell
9.Rahul Dravid
10.Ken Barrington
11.Brian Close
12Mohinder Amarnath

Lillee's dramatic comeback after a serious back injury was simply a Muhammad Ali style comeback.Dennis took grit to it's deepest zenith on a cricket field displaying agression to enable his team to rise like a phoenix from the Ashes on many an Occasion.Imran Khan resembled a military general when playing and could turn game in the most difficult of situations with the ball. His comeback after a shin injury virtually emulated that of Lillee .Although boring to watch Boycott was the ultimate epitome of defiance to stick out their in the middle . I can never forget what Viv Richards said about him standing in the slips seeing him play in the 1981 series. As batsmen Border,Waugh and Miandad were personifications of determination often ressurecting their sides from the grave.Miandad as batsmen looked like a soldier more than nay other batsmen on the field.A Gavaskar displayed concentration of a Buddhist monk, out their in the middle..Ian Chappel could turn lost games into winning ones more than any skipper and was the best batsmen in a crisis.Dravid displayed more intensity than Lara or Tendular when the team's back was to the wall or on bad wicket.Barrington wore down great bowlers more than May,Dexter or Cowdrey.Close braved the great Calypso fast men more than anyone.Amarnath at his best in 1982-83 faced the greatest fast bowling attack ever with more determination than any batsmen ever.

It is worth recounting the effort Lillee,Boycott,Gavaskar and Imran invested to improve their game.Lillee and Imran worked on their fitness more than anybody.Imran worked much harder on his game than Wasim Akram.Placed Boycott very high because of his great comeback in 1977 after being dropped.Placed Gavaskar ahead of Border because he had to open the innings.Morally they were all neck to neck in terms of determination.

Lillee and Imran spring to mind, as they came back from bad injuries to be ATG quick bowlers.

Hanif Muhammad (the triple century), Faf Du Plessis (the debut century) stand out in terms of individual innings

It has to be Mohinder Amarnath. His endurance and determination is well known. Used to hear stories about him (and windies bowlers) from elders. He was prolific against the windies. Our only standout performer in 1983 vs pak.
Well he had earned many more accolades.
