India and Pakistan both have a shot at this.

Pakistani probably still ahead as so many tests they could have won if not get choke jobs or cheating or pure luck.

Today India losing out on an easy win. What a shame!

India had a chance to win a test series in Australia in the mid 1980s, India was on the verge and I think rain came. They also had a chance to win a series in South Africa if not for Kallis brilliance in 2011 and again in 2018.

Both have a shot.

India were superior team in most of our overseas tours this year but luck robbed us. In SA test series, we were on the unlucky side of the coin at toss. Chasing at 4th innings were extremely difficult there and team that batted last have lost all the 3 tests. I have no doubt India would hv won the test series had toss luck went in their favour. Same toss luck screwed us in Eng as well.

Now DLS and rain is stopping us from imminent wins in Australia.

Hope luck in our side for a change in this upcoming test series. On paper, India is a much stronger test team and only luck can save Australia this time.

Nobody was unlucky. Luck has favoured both teams equally. But Pak was easily the superior touring team. Drawing in a place like England and that too after losing their best test batters indeed deserves some credit.

Compared to that India in this period was nothing but disappointing. Everybody was taking about India before the start of their recent away tours and how they would make a history, how their current fast bowling is one of a kind.....bla, bla, bla

But when the real show began we saw the real picture. No, they weren't unlucky, they weren't just good enough. As a matter of fact they got quite lucky in their last England tour where England was suffering due to injuries and one of their main players Stokes was fighting a legal battle but sadly still India got beaten to the pulp.

So no, I don't think there is even a question about them being unlucky or anything. They weren't just good enough.

Richest cricket team in the world needs luck to win games now? I think huge IPL money will give our players enough confidence to beat Australia in Australia this time. :inti

Absolutely. It should be an easy win in the test series against this depleted Aussies team. Unless ofcourse, rain screw us up like they did for the T20s or we have another barrage of poor luck with toss like that SA tour.

Winning toss evens out in the end. IMO toss has bigger impact in SC/UAE. In SENA it matters, but not equally.

For me, the key for Indian bowlers is to contain the tailenders. Aussie top order will have to play best cricket of their lives to compete.

Oh and Pakistan? We've become a joke in test cricket, be at home or overseas  pointless to discuss.

I think we are all underestimating Australian bowling and overestimating Indian batting.

Test series in Australia won't be so easy as people think.

I don't mind being proved wrong though. But Indian fans went to South Africa and England with this same mentality and and returned heavily disappointed.

Indian batting too for me is HEAVILY reliant on Kohli. Other don't inspire confidence to me at least.

How many touring teams have been unlucky with the toss in India? South Africa batted last at both Mohali and Nagpur when they toured and those pitches were as "win toss, win match" as you can get. Is this really something to cry about? Every single toss that has taken place has provided the same 50/50 chance to each competing team.

When England toured India in 2016, they won 4 out of 5 tosses. In the 2018 series England won 5 out of 5 tosses. In 2014's tour to England, India lost 4 out of 5 tosses.

I don't know about other teams but in India vs England series for the last 4 years, India have been extremely unlucky with the coin toss.

I don't think Pakistan have been unlucky away from home, just haven't been good enough. India on the other hand could have won a couple of matches this year if certain things fell their way at crucial moments.

Just holding on to 2 crucial catches -- one in the 1st test in Eng ( Catch of Sam Curran ) and the other in the 1st Test in SA (Of Maharaj ) -- would have been a different result all together. And then there is the Bumrah finger injury playing freakin T20 vs Ireland
