Originally, I didn't think many Pakistan players would make the IPL, but after looking at some of the international players in the IPL, one can certainly make the case for more Pakistani players.
Many teams would take Babar and Shaheen in a blink of an eye so I don't think I need to make any comparisons there, But I will make them anyways. Shaheen could replace Oshane Thomas at RR and Babar could replace Kane Williamson at SRH.
Imad Wasim would easily replace Fabian Allen at SRH. Imad has a much better average an economy as a bowler. As a batsman, Allen has the better bating average and SR but seeing as both of them would play at 7-9, bowling takes precedent.
Mohammad Amir could replace Anrich Nortje at Delhi Capitals. Amir has a better economy and average. Also reputation helps.
Shadab Khan could replace Adam Zampa at RCB. They have the same bowling average, while Shadab has the marginally better economy. That being said though Zampa is a tailender while Shadab is a much better batsman. Not to forget Shadab is up there among some of the best fielders in the world.
Mohammad Hafeez could replace Moeen Ali at RCB. Hafeez's T20 batting stats in the last 2 years are phenomenal. Hafeez can play in the middle order or lower down. Hafeez averages slightly better in bowling and has an economy of 6,34 compared to Moeen who has a rate of 7.67.
All 3 of Mohammad Hasnain, Haris Rauf and Wahab Riaz could replace Billy Stanlake at SRH and Hardus Viljoen at KXIP and Ali Khan at KKR. All 3 of the Pakistanis average 4-6 runs better than all the foreign counterparts, While Wahab and Hasnain also have better economies
This one surprises me too. Even Faheem Ashraf could replace Keemo Paul at Delhi Capitals. Faheem averages 1 run better and has a lower economy by a little bit as well compared to Keemo Paul. Batting wise, they're both pretty useless. They both average 14, Paul has a SR of 109 while Faheem as a SR of 133. Although I feel someone like Hasan Ali would be a better pick than both of them, Hasan is a better bowler than both of them and has a higher batting SR, which is the only thing that really matters that far down the order
So the Pakistani players that have a plausible chance of making the IPL:
Babar Azam
Shaheen Afridi
Imad Wasim
Mohammad Amir
Shadab Khan
Mohamamad Hafeez
Wahab Riaz
Mohammad Hasnain
Hasan Ali
All of these players have better stats compared to some of the international players who are in IPL squads right now. I'm not saying all of these Pakistan players would go straight into the first XIs (The names bolded are the ones that I think would go straight into the first XIs) of the teams, a lot of them would probably warm the bench for most of the tournament just like those they would replace are. But it really does disprove the narrative of certain posters who say Pakistani players wouldn't even make it to the IPL.
