I personally feel that South Asia (Indian subcontinent) and Middle East has the best foods in the world. No other region comes close.

What do you think?

Probably not the appropriate thing to say currently, but I absolutely love Chinese.

You are thinking of Indian Chinese food . Original Chinese food tastes nothing like it. It’s Infact tasteless and disgusting( personal opinion)

Agreed. Indian Chinese is actually called "Hakka". It is not authentic Chinese food. It is a modified version (Indian version).

Mughlai food, in particular. The best BBQ type dishes, the best Biryani's....... everything!

Nothing comes close. Italian food is bland and well, ****, for us Desis. I love Lebanese food, and it's the one food I might take instead of ours. Pure Chinese is not that good.

Yes, Indian Chinese food is what I’m speaking of. Have you tried authentic Chinese food?

Italian > Pakistani > Labanese > Thai

What Italian food do you like?

The Pizza famous around the world is not the Italian version. Italian is thin crust and simple flavours. Not loaded cheese and sauces.

The pasta here is also blander than bland.

Name me a better food than a well made Nihari with piping hot naans, I'll wait.

All desi foods and Arab foods are magnificent. Pure art.

I know there are varieties but all are good to me.

Would love to go to Syria and try their foods after civil war stops.

Has to be USA,

Crispy fried chicken goodness, smashed up burgers on the griddle, shoved down with an extra thick vanila milkshake with crushed up oreos.

Desi(incl Hakka), French, mediterranean.

I do actually like Thai and Vietnamese in some places when cooked well.

Actual Chinese isn’t that good unfortunately, maybe for a vegetarian like me.

English cuisine is extremely dull.

Yes. Bland and weird after flavor. I am not speaking about commercial franchises like Panda Express that we have in US which are Americanized version fast food. They are what they are serviceable fast food but the authentic Chinese food is disgusting.

Not to forget it’s extremely hard to explain them an order if you are a vegetarian.

Most Thai/Vietnamese/Japanese places are much more considerate to vegetarians in states

Desi food while delicious tends to be too oily and unhealthy in general.

My personal favourite is Thai.

Glasgow - everything from deep fried mars bar to chicken tikka masala.

South Asian (Bengali, Indian, Pakistani etc) and Oriental.

I find Mediterranean food overrated.

Paya and its Salan with Naan .
Beef qeema Keebab.
Marinated Lamb Tikka.
Pakistani Fish

Those are all good... But not at the level of
Nihari, in my opinion.

Nihari is literally the diet of kings.

Anyone tried Brazilian BBQ? It's out of this world..

Which part of Mediterranean?

You surely can't hate Shawarma? That's like one of the best foods in the world.

I've had Turkish, Egyptian and other places labelled 'Arab'. They aren't bad, but not worth the hype surrounding it.

I prefer a Gyro over a Shawarma, but I do love some Chicken on the Rocks (rice instead of a pita roll)

Well all this depends on what you grew up eating. I grew up in the middle east to pakistani parents.
So hummus is my most confort food. Have been in the USA for over 30 years so a hamburger hits teh spot and my GF is from north spain so tortilla just hits the spot

Hummus>Suki dall>lamb Biryani>Cheese burger>tortilla

Indian and French cuisines are the most sophisticated in the world. Indian flavors are stronger, whereas French are more subtle.

If I were asked to name the best dish in the world, it would be "shorshe bata Ilish mach" (Ilish fish in ground mustard sauce), followed by Bengali fish cakes and Mughlai dishes like kebabs and makhni chicken. My tastes are biased by my experiences. India is a large country, and I obviously have not tasted much of it culinary treasures.

Indian food must be quite varied in different parts of the country. Something as common as Daal is prepared differently in different parts. Once in Malaysia i tried South Indian Daal and it had coconut in it. Hyderabadis put tamarind in their daal.

This is a difficult one, I love all foods of the world to some extent, Italian pizzas, fish and chips created by immigrants to Britain, french pastries, the subtleness of Lebanese herbs and spices....but nothing will ever come close to a good Pakistani salan eaten with a good buttery naan. Actually my favourite is lamb cooked on the bone with all the juices and a paratha, but I know it's not for everyone.

Personally I feel even western food, which I love, tastes a bit better with a touch of Asian spice.
