Pakistan have some huge issues to deal with and will come across some tough opponents.

If Pakistan dont win this series then our doubts about their future in the T20 World Cup will only get worse!

Pakistan squad for ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and NZ tri-series: (changes can be made to the squad till 15 October, without needing the Event Technical Committee’s approval):

Pakistan couldn’t thrash SL in their home conditions but are expected to thrash NZ in theirs :))

These are the same guys who leave no opportunity to make fun of Pakistan team whenever there is a comparison going on between India and Pakistan here. And then they come up with totally fake statements like these. :91:

NZ will win this series. And I am sure Bangladesh will surprise even Pakistan in this series at least once. Will be an exciting series this. My only concern is the timing. 7:30 am is too early. :inti

Realistically NZ has no business hosting cricket

Most boring team/board in the world with the most ridiculous timings for international viewers!

Not to mention their tiny grounds where even Yuzvendra Chahal can hit sixes for fun. :inti

Now that Pakistan are third rank favourites in this tri-nation, they might actually win it. Typical!

Who is showing it in the UK?

New Zealand haven't had the greatest time recently but again at home they are always formidable due to their bowling attack. At least in one game we might see their bowlers running through a side with the new ball.

New Zealand cause they’re at home but I expect Pakistan to give a tough fight. I’d be surprised if BD won a single game, they’ve figured out ODI cricket but are still really behind in T20

Pakistan could potentially play 5 matched in space of 8 days, on top of 7 match series just concluded and 2 warm up matches before the world cup. That's a lot of cricket just before a big tournament. Silly scheduling.

Will be an interesting mini series. Hoping our batters get into some form and acclimatized to the conditions before the WC. I think time for selection experiments is over and we should now look to give the mainstays in the playing XI more time in the middle. Need to promote Nawaz and Shadab up the order, if they hit form, our middle order vows will be mostly resolved.

Oh Jaa mama please stop hyping us!

Not hype. Pakistan are the highest ranked team amongst the 3 with the best T20 bowling attack assuming all the bowlers have found form and rhythm . Batting is an issue but NZ don't have the firepower to challenge Pakistan.

They are not England

Why can't they include 3-4 new players. They can't be worse than Asif, Haider, Khusdil, Parch Qadir and Ifti.

We will either lose to Bangladesh or New Zealand in the final. New Zealand seems to be the safer option but you never know anything with Bangladesh.

I don’t care who wins - as long as we show some positive intent.

Have you seen BD play T20? They ain't no SL. Rest assured it will be a Pak v NZ final. Most probably NZ winning it. Pak is too dependant on top order.

BD should lose all games.

Pakistan-NZ final should be an exciting one. Kiwis are probably favorites due to home advantage.

Nz will win it hands down our middle order might click against the hapless Bangladesh if not its all curtains for us down under

NZ are playing 4 matches in 4 days in a row. What a brutal schedule.

Pakistan have really struggled in NZ in recent years and the squad seems banged up too. Should be a good fight with NZ likely to win but anything can happen in a finals match.

New Zealand should win with ease. Pakistan have got no middle order and on those Hobbit grounds bowlers will go for a lot.

I hope i don't khushdil the useless parchi Shah again.

Short boundaries in NZ will test our bowlers specially with dearth of hitters in our lineup also lack of swing from our bowlers will expose them not to mention the sloppy fielding and redundant spin All in All Nz Series to lose against two Asian minnows

The home team have to be clear favourites.

From Pakistan's perspective I just hope that some of the back-up players regain form and confidence and that sets them up for the T20 World Cup.

The word that has annoyed All Blacks fans for many years indicates Black Caps followers may be none-the-wiser as to their 1st XI for the Twenty20 World Cup by the end of next week.

New Zealand will meet Pakistan and Bangladesh in a tri-series in Christchurch starting on Friday – when the two visiting sides meet at Hagley Oval – as part of their warm-up for the World Cup starting in Australia later this month.

The tri-series hosts are expected to use the 15 players in the Black Caps squad for the tournament, with selector Gavin Larsen saying on Monday that rotation would be a notable factor over four or five games, depending on results.

“Certainly the goal is to rotate the squad across the playing opportunities through that tri-series and to basically fine-tune what has been our existing game plan over the recent time,” Larsen said.

“There's certainly nothing majorly different that we're going to be focusing on – they're very important preparation games for us.”

The player with the most to gain from the series is likely to be opener Finn Allen.

The Black Caps used Martin Guptill and Devon Conway as their opening batting combination for all three games in their most recent T20 series, versus the West Indies in the Caribbean in August.

It wasn’t a memorable series for Guptill, with 51 runs at 17, and the 36-year-old hasn’t passed 50 in nine T20Is this year.

Allen was hit-and-miss earlier this year against Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands but did hammer a century off 56 balls against Scotland as a sign of his explosive capabilities.

New Zealand fans will also be desperately keen to see captain Kane Williamson find some form after struggling following his return from injury. Williamson made 75 runs in three knocks against the Windies and also had three middling displays in the recent ODI series against Australia across the Tasman.

Bangladesh will likely be without captain Shakib Al Hasan for Friday’s opening game, with the skipper and team bowling coach Allan Donald having their arrivals in New Zealand delayed.

New Zealand are also set to play warm-up games in Australia against India and South Africa before their Cup opener versus the hosts at the SCG on October 22.

Black Caps followers will also have their fingers crossed for no one to get injured as the notable absentee list for the World Cup grows.

Star Indian pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah will miss the tournament with a back injury while their squad was already weakened by the absence of allrounder Ravi Jadeja with a knee injury.

West Indian batter Shimron Hetmeyer was dropped from their squad on Tuesday (NZ time) after a run-in over when he would leave for Australia.

Australian allrounder Marcus Stonis has been ruled out of the home warm-up games against the Windies with a side strain suffered in the ODI series versus New Zealand in Cairns last month.

NZ will win series with ease, they are home track bullies in LOI formats.

Pakistan are definitely going to choke in a chase against Bangladesh at some point

Bangladesh have good spinners who are not easy to score off, and Pakistan have batsmen who love to pile on pressure for themselves

Honest question, how did minnows BD even manage to squeeze themselves into this Tri series with Pak and NZ? :)))

No disrespect but what I mean is all the other killer teams that would have made more sense and it turns out to be Bangladesh?

Central Stags paceman Blair Tickner has joined the BLACKCAPS squad today ahead of the T20 Tri-Series in Christchurch.

Tickner has been brought into the squad as cover for spinner Mitchell Santner who will not arrive into camp until the weekend following the birth of his first child last week.

As if Pakistan is that good. Can't even win against weak SL.

Pakistan is not that good but we're still competing and playing the odd tournament semi finals and finals, no?

Hence my question, how did minnow BD manage to get into this Tri series out of all the other more relevant teams?

Mitchell ruled out of T20 Tri-Series with fractured hand

BLACKCAPS batsman Daryl Mitchell has been ruled out of the T20 Tri-Series in Christchurch after fracturing his hand during training at Lincoln today.

The all-rounder sustained a blow to his right-hand while batting in the nets, with an X-Ray later revealing a fracture to his fifth metacarpal (pinkie finger).

BLACKCAPS physio for the Tri-Series Theo Kapakoulakis confirmed Mitchell’s hand had been placed in a cast which would need to remain on for at least two weeks.

Coach Gary Stead said some time was needed to consider a decision on Mitchell’s availability for the ICC T20 World Cup, with the squad set to depart for Australia on October 15.

“It’s a real shame for Daryl to suffer this injury on the eve of an exciting period of cricket for the side,” Stead said.

“Daryl's become a really important player to our T20 unit and we’re certainly going to miss his all-round skills and versatility in the Tri-Series.

“With our first game of the World Cup in just over two weeks we need to take some to consider Daryl’s recovery timeline and his potential involvement in the tournament.”

Mitchell’s replacement in the Tri-Series squad will be confirmed in due course.

The BLACKCAPS open their Tri-Series campaign against Pakistan at Hagley Oval on Saturday night.

A minor abdominal injury to fast bowler Lockie Ferguson has depleted New Zealand further in the ongoing T20I tri-series, involving Pakistan and Bangladesh. The hosts are already without allrounders Daryl Mitchell, who has been sidelined from the entire tri-series with a fractured finger, and Mitchell Santner, who will join the squad on Sunday after his paternity break.

Trundler attack of NZ was exposed today. Also Kane williamson is bringing his whole team down. His flash in the pan scores shouldn't dececive the selectors. He is there purely on reputation.

Williamson and Conway open? :Afridi

He is hurting the team as he hasn't figured out how to bat with his tennis elbow injury. Apparently there's surgery for it but he;s delayed it, he needs to take it ASAP or his career could be over.

Other teams weren't available probably.

This is a meaningless series right before World T20. Most teams probably don't want to risk injuries.

For those wondering about Shakib:

==

Bangladesh Cricket Board has clarified why T20I skipper Shakib al Hasan has been absent so far as the Bangladesh team prepare for the tri-nation series against hosts New Zealand and Pakistan.

The Tigers are in Christchurch at the moment for the T20I tri-series but Shakib has not been able to join the squad until Wednesday.

A pre-tournament photo shoot took place in Christchurch Wednesday where New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and Pakistan skipper Babar Azam were present but Bangladesh vice-captain Nurul Hasan attended the event instead of Shakib.

Shakib played the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 for Guyana Amazon Warriors and did not take part in the two-match T20I series against United Arab Emirates in the last week of September.

In an official press release BCB informed that Shakib was unable to reach Christchurch and join the team Wednesday due to difficulties related to transit visa.

The BCB press release said, “Shakib will join the squad in Christchurch (Thursday afternoon) after his arrival got delayed by two days because of technicalities related to transit visa.

“Shakib had a confirmed ticket and was due to arrive in New Zealand via Tahiti (Tuesday) but could not board the flight from Los Angeles International Airport (Sunday) after complicacies with the visa procedure arose.

“However, the designated airlines resolved the issue and rebooked him on the next available flight leaving from LA (Tuesday) which he has taken to go to New Zealand.”

It has been learnt that Shakib will reach Christchurch and join the team.

Pakistan look good to come out on top here, hopefully a good confidence booster ahead of the WC.

Something isn’t right

Why Shakib batting at 6? Are Bangladesh looking to throw games here in protest of some issues?

Ouch!

May she get well soon.

Wasn't Pak/NZ Game 4 supposed to be played today?

Why are they changing the schedule mid series? Shocking stuff really.

Pakistan and New Zealand will play the final on Friday

2 back to back games for Pakistan and a trophy on line we must remember that in Asia Cup Final we lost two games against Sl and also lost the trophy, then leading 3-2 we lost 4-3 to Eng so not having high hopes

NZ were slightly more favorite due to home advantage.

But, not surprised at all. Pakistan are a great T20 team.

This team is easily capable of chasing 170 ish in most conditions but batting first remains a major concern...
