Just watch the bowling and you will think Afghanistan can beat them. Their battting is decent but wont keep up with their woeful bowling.

I don't think BD will give away 350+ runs against every opposition. Having said that, their bowling is still their weakest link. Shakib lost his bowling form and he needs to get it back.

Sure but if Pak bowlers defended 330 odd against the most destructive batting line up England, Bangladesh shouldnt be a problem with runs on the board.

But I think Pakistan's bowling is still better than Bangladesh who have conceded well over 350 against England and Australia.

Bangladesh have performed better with the bat and have shown fighting spirit unlike Pakistan. It will be a good game. I did vote for Bangladesh because they look like more hungry for win.
 
I hope we win. But some of our fans will be in hiding if the worst happens. The arrogance of our fans is mind boggling.

we will be out of the world cup long before that game.. most probably on sunday if not surely on Wednesday..
it will be a dead rubber probably for both sides (Bang will lose to India) watch our ttfs like hafeez come to the party as they always do in dead rubbers

Wouldn't be shocked. If they do perform watch that be enough to seal their places for the next WC.
 
You guys are seriously overrating our team. I won't be surprised if we lose to Afghanistan.

Maybe even on Saturday if New Zealand beats the West Indies! Keep in mind that New Zealand already has 9 points.
 
The only concern i have is if somehow Pakistan wins, the same set up will continue post WC which i dont want!

Our standards are getting lower and lower by the day. Beating Bangladesh and possibly SA will mean we will probably finish 5/6 in the table which will be satisfying for our pathetic board.

The only way wholesale changes will be made post WC is if we finish 8/9.

I know our standards are low but not THAT low. Anything less than a semi final spot will be considered a failure.
 
On the current form, Bangladesh's batting line up looks much more solid than Pakistan's.

On Bowling front both teams looks weak with Pakistan's appearing marginally better due to the presence of in-form Amir.

Fielding wise both teams are average at best with Bangladesh's appears to be marginally better than Pakistan's.

I have gone for Bangladesh as favorites between the two, in the poll.
 
Pakistan by the time they play Bangladesh will be either in the dont care mode or life depends on it mode - so the result could be driven by that.
 
Are Pakistan and Bangladesh heading towards a Quarter Final?

Looks like we are going to have round 2 of KO matches between Pakistan and Bangladesh on Friday, the 5th of July, 2019.

If Pakistan beat New Zealand then on the 4th of July they would be standing at 9 points.

And if Bangladesh defeat India then they too would be standing at 9 points on 4th of July.

All that's needed then is that England don't win more than 1 more match. Luckily all of England's matches would be completed by then so we'll have a clear picture.

And we will have round 2 between Pakistan and Bangladesh in a KO game.

The first round was won by Bangladesh in the 2018 Asia Cup and they went on to face India in the final.

Can they repeat that performance and again face (possibly) India in a WC semi-final?

Or will Pakistan take revenge on Bangladesh and then India in back-to-back KO matches?
 
Its funny how everyone is ignoring NZ game which is going to be among toughest in the list while all focused over Bangla game.

Sorry to burst your bubble but these 2 things are not gonna happen:
1) Pak winning against NZ and BD
2) BD winning against IND
 
Just noticed BD has to beat India and if we lose that would be embarrassing.The next match for BD is after a whole though!

It will be tough but Pakistan have one key advantange over NZ on Wednesday, the Pak fans ! Edgbatson will be very noisy, it will be like Lords , a home match for Pakistan. The team is now trying hard, playing decent and with a bit of luck should beat NZ in style.

As for Bangladesh, they are unlikely to beat India and if Pak win the next two Bangladesh bowlers will be taken for many runs v Pak and lose badly imo.

We blew our chances against Kiwis, then Sabbir dropped whatever was left. PAK was out in 1st game.
 
Let's just take it one day at a time. Thr New Zealand game will be a MASSIVE challenge. We dropped 7 catches last match. Dropping Williamson even once will come back to haunt us with rhe form he's in. Not to mention, Guptill always has a field day against us. We just need to be level headed for the moment.

Well if we beat WI and England before facing you, we might rest some players. So it can be done

New Zealand haven't looked unbeatable...Bangladesh ran them close as did the Saffas and Windies...they have closed out games but they haven't exactly been dominant...

It would be ridiculous to overlook them but we can win tomorrow...

England without Roy are a different beast and considering they have lost to us and Sri Lanka I would be surprised if they won 2/3 of their remaining games...
 
If Pakistan beat NZ and Bng best India
Both have difficult games coming and both can be knocked out in these games
 
If Pakistan can win against NZ then anything can happen for me this is the toughest match for Pakistan. We lost big opportunity against Australia

IND won't rest any player, but the issue isn't there. In last few years, we have made most games against IND very close, but couldn't win - the clue is hidden there.

Every team has strengths & weaknesses, we have also some strength and IND has weakness. Problem is, our strength is India's strength as well and individually players are better, while we don't have players to expose the weaknesses. For example, MSD might come to field on someones shoulders, but still he'll milk our spinners in his sleep, then blast in last few overs. Playing spin is strength of BD team as well and against most teams, our middle order will put every spin attack silent ... not against Indian pair. We have couple of very good defensive spinners, who'll choke most teams - Indian top order will send them to crowd every over once set. Finally pace attack - among lower ranked teams PAK, WIN can hurt IND with new ball attack some days (though it's 0-12), even SRL once got them at like 27/7 ........... our pacers will hurt themselves.

That 2007 win was based on outstanding fast bowling by Mash and he was genuinely fast that time, bowled brilliantly with new ball as well. Unless we find couple of skilled new ball bowlers, most games against IND will be close fought, but not over the line.

Let's see. I am a Bengali as well. So you guys are my 2d team. If we already qualify for the semis, I wouldn't mind losing to you. And our current generation's spin playing quality is overrated

Anti climax will be both winning respective games (I take PAK v AFG as academic) .... and Poms win both their games.

I give BD & SRL lots of credit to make this WC exciting one, WIN as well (but not PAK - almost ended their WC inside 35 overs of their WC journey, those 3 masketiers of PCT should be spanked hard where it hurts for only that one), but ENG, AUS, IND, NZ were always well, well a head.

Shouldn't give credit to WI. They basically threw the matches against Australia and New Zealand. Specially against nz, the way Gayle and hetmyer got out is absolute rubbish. 162 to win from 30 overs with your most experienced player and most talented player well into their 50s is a 9 out of 10 times win situation.

India will beat Bangladesh but NZ beating Pakistan isn’t a certainty. If the pitch is the same as NZ vs South Africa I expect it to be a close contest. NZ have won a few close games, it shows they are beatable and have had some luck. They are due a loss and also that luck will run out soon. More than likely in the semis.

Wednesday is the time to make it relevant.
Then we can think about it.

India's spin playing ability is overrated. They are good but nowhere near what it was a decade back. Sehwag would have blasted most of the current spinners in his sleep (watch Ashwin talking about Sehwag in Youtube). Same with Ganguly and Sachin. Dravid would have milked them whole day. Now we have Dhoni, Rahul, Vijay's who struggle to get four singles in an over. Only spin destroyer we have left is Pandya.

A lot of people are saying Pakistan would lose to NZ and England would win their games.

Frankly I would rather have an Asian neighbor in the SF than the English. Today's match against Australia will go a long way in deciding whether England reaches the SF or not.

And I wouldn't put it past Bangladesh to beat India. They are on a roll and lately BD has been a challenging opponent for Indians.

I am still rooting for a BD vs PAK quarter final. Would be a thriller or a match given how the Bangla-Pak rivalry has evolved in recent times!
 
Will be a tough game, both sides have reasons for not losing it, regardless of points situation

It may still be a possibility if NZ wins tomorrow. England looses the rest. SL doesn't get more than 1 more win. BD looses to IND. BD V PAK quarter final match. I LOVE ENG for screwing it up and making it so interesting XD

Ind just crawled over the line vs afg too. It doesn't mean they can't beat bd.

Pak are favourites to win vs bd by many people (bookies).
 
Pak vs BD is a quarterfinal (almost)

Regardless of the outcome of India vs. BD, Pakistan's last match is almost quarterfinal, of course assuming England don't win both their remaining games.

Even if BD lose to India, their NRR won't fall below Pakistan. If BD win against Pak they will go to semis based on NRR, if Pak win they will go to semis based on points. This match will be fought tooth and nail by both teams.

Pak missed a trick by not winning big against Afg, it may come back to bite them.

In my opinion Pakistan as they have the momentum but can't take Bangladesh lightly.
 
That momentum was of hunger to go forward in the tournament. I expect Bangladesh's batting to outclass ours. Dead rubber. Don't care who wins from here.
 
Still Pakistan are favourites in my view and there is an incentive to avenge the Asia Cup loss here.
 
I just voted for Pakistan now :P . Honestly speaking, if you asked me before, the start of the tournament I would have said Pakistan because I remember they beat us in the 2016 Asia Cup then we spanked them in the ICC world t20. But then the way we started this tournament, and how good Bangladesh were looking, I would have easily said Bangladesh. Happy Pakistan won, it's a shame we couldn't make the semi's though.
