So, Imran Khan before the INDvPAK match clearly said to not include any railu kattas.

By definition, it means bits and pieces players or those who are good at nothing, at best average.

I do kind of agree with him - if we look at allrounders, in other teams we have the likes of Shakib (great batsman & bowler), Stokes (excellent bat, OK bowler), Maxwell (destructive batter).

Our neighbors seem to be preferring specialists now, instead of going with railu kattas like Jadeja, they've gone with specialist, wicket-taking spinners.

Who are the railu kattas in Pakistan's team?

Pretty much the whole team bar Babar, imam to some extent, fakhar and amir. The rest of them are awful pretty much. Frogot to add Shaheen and Hasnain (not played enough yet) and Haris.

Can't really call specialists as railu kattas, it's not there by definition.

It's those who pretend to do great in multiple facets of the game, but aren't actually good enough.

Shankar and Jadhav are picked on basis of their non existent 3D play.

Hafeez (on his best day in a tournament/series he plays a maximum of 60 balls and hes the most unreliable no.4 in this WC)

Malik ( never done anything of note in big matches, has hardly ever helped us win a tournament. One of the worst batsmen of pace . And bowling was never good)

Asif Ali( cant believe we pick a player to play internationals based on 3 consecutive sixes hit in the PSL)

Imad( left arm darter with a bowling average of 45 and batting that hardly creates impact, this guy is a definition of railu katta)

Shadab Khan( another psl product with no quality domestic experience behind him yet selected as the main spinner, hes been exposed badly. In batting he cant rotate strike and has no power game)

Faheem( at best a club level cricketer, i mean the guy hasnt scored a 30 i think in 2 yrs of international cricket. Mickey arthurs zulu is a complete lulu with the ball as well)

A few more names but these guys top the list

Wahab does consider himself as a bowling all rounder as well as Hasan ali, Lets not forget Malik and Hafeez who play due to their so called bowling. This leave mr cpatain. do i need to say more. Imad and shadab we know.

Malik, Hafeez, Imad and Sarfraz

One raillu kattas is okay. But having 4 in a match is just poor understanding of cricket.

Malik: No comments, should retire with whatever dignity he has left.

Hafeez: Slight improvement in batting but i’d rather prefer a specialist batsman instead. Going to retire anyways.

Imad: Our so called all rounder should stick to T20. We need a proper spinner, do as India did when they replaced Jadeja with a proper spinner.

Sarfraz: His batting is below average and his captaincy as shown during the WC is below average as well. Got nothing to offer to the team.

The Fake Swag Trio of Imad, Shadab and Hasan.

It was a Quartet with Fahim but thankfully he's been dropped.

Babar almost guarantees you 35 runs every time he bats and Amir is a good economical bowler that has managed to force many of the wickets he's taken (face it, very few have been snorter-snicks, killer LBWs/bowleds - mainly catches from batsman forcing the pace) - on this basis, I'd still retain them.

Besides these two, you're getting short-changed by this Pakistan Team - they're theiving for a living.

Railu Katta or not, the remaining 13 players are mediocre - Shadab is massively hyped, he's a 7 an over bowler. Wahab Riaz... Allah, please just give me strength or sabr, or both!

These Imads and Hassans, everyone really - awful. They deserve all the criticism they are receiving.

Don't get it twisted, Babar isn't great either - he appears to be all we have though. Strike rotation, gap-placement, forcing the pace - non-existent. He's a 1980s number 3, good at accumulating until he's fulfilled his average - kabbi match jetaya? When has he ever won a match with his batting - that wasn't already won? Still... I'd retain him - he does tend to guarantee 35 runs.

The rest - garbage.

Who are the railu kattas in Pakistan's team?

The captain of Pakistan team "Sarfraz Ahmed" is a railu katta. That tells you the kind of impact railu kattas have on Pakistan team.

I repeat. An all-rounder is someone who can win you a match with either bat or ball or both.

Food for thought....in this current squad, which all-rounders can do that.

You don't get those in the matter of months. They take time to develop. How long did it take stokes to get it right.

At the moment we just need guys to contribute in both facets. If they are doing that they walk into our team

I think Imad and shadab are vital in this team. The failure has come when we have moved away from them.
They should play every game for us

I think, that term is used for English word "Bits & Pieces". Almost entire PAK team is full of RKs -

1. Sarfraz - absolute useless player that is picked for several jobs from Keeping to Captaincy to middle order to finisher to even opener - and he is damn poor in every facet

2. Hafeez & Malik - their only specialist quality is experience, lots of it.

3. Imad - picked as a bowling all-rounder, surviving for his batting average through use less runs - even last game he increased it when Indian's were .... merciful.

4. Shadab & Faheem - won't make any of the WC squad bar SRL (Shadab, even AFGs have Rashid), SRL & AFG (Faheem) on their individual bowling or batting merit.

5. Asif Ali - Bits & pieces finisher

6. Fakhar - picked as an enforcer, but just not good enough & consistent enough .... Bits & pieces power hitter

A team can accommodate 1, max 2 such cricketers to link between bat & ball - PAK carries at least half a dozen in squad and plays 4-6 in every game.

Yeah our team is full of Robin Singh type allrounders. Bowl uneventful overs and score runs when it doesn't matter. Imad Wasim is a champion in that.

The one and only genuine all rounder left in Pakistan is Hafeez.

Robin Singh won quite a few games with his batting. His batting had an impact.

Imad, Shoaib, Shaheen and Hasan are the ones IK is talking about. These guys have done nothing at all.

Shaheen and Hasan are specialists so wouldn't fit in the category. The likes of Shadab, Malik would fit in here.

How do you know? He is talking of the ones who have made no impact at at all. The Viper as well.

So you want to kick out the only two bowlers we have?
Unless we get Wasim, Waqar esque bowlers, we have to put up with these players.

Robin Singh won the matches for india. He was exceptional well in fielding, pretty good on batting and bowling.

We have Pandya in the team. In other two or 3 years we should find genuine rounder with spin and bowling.

We are yet to find replacement for Yuvraj. It might take couple of years. But it will happen soon for us.

Who are the railu kattas in Pakistan's team?

To call jadeja a railu katta is an insult

He is a very good one day bowlers . Never seen him hit out of the park . Excellent fielder

He can bat well but his primary job is bowler

Jadhav is a highlyskilled batsman for odi - see his 4 runs against Pak . Hardly had time to get his eye in and he could hit out .

Shankar is a proper Dravid style batsman . His batting is excellent and his bowling is a bonus - he is played at no 4 over rayudu ( rayudu didn’t bat well in New Zealand and hence missed out ) . Fields well too

Now the only true allrounder is hardick - but he is actually a high class batsman who can bowl a bit in the Kallis mound

Pandya . Stokes . Holder - these are perhaps the only decent allrounders . But none are of the class of say Imran khan or Kapil dev . Amidst spin allrounders - shakib is the best . Jadeja wants to be a better bat and seems to have matured . But I don’t see him getting as many chances to bat like how shakib would get

Statistically if a player batting average is below 35 and bowling average is above 35 then he can be called a "Railu Katta".

Imran made a political point on Maryam and Bilawal. It had nothing to do with the players, don't think Imran even knows the names of the players in the squad.

It is a shame that things like this are a hit in Pakistan and become a cheap buzzwords to keep the people entertained, much like morning shows, Ahmed ka gussa or body shaming in game shows.

Everybody knows the railukattas of the current team but how can they be left out when you have picked them in the squad, paid their flights and visa, accommodation and transport? Should we just send them home and say thank you?

These things need to be thought before the tournament starts, and not last minute. Had Imran tweeted about it a month before the World Cup it would have made half sense. Imran also needs to push Mani to do a public address on what are his current projects and how is he improving the game at grass roots?

Imran Khan was right once again.

He hates all-rounders. These mediocre hacks also known as railu kattas who can’t bat nor bowl at a decent level.

He said these railu kattas never perform under pressure.

We need to be an end to all-rounders in Pakistan team and get rid of actors like Shadab, Nawaz, Faheem, Wasim, etc.

You cannot call every all-rounder a railu-katta. There are players like Hardik Pandya and Ben Stokes who can win any game for their team with ball or bat. Unfortunately, we don't have that world class all-rounder in our team and have to rely on the likes of Iftikhar, Agha, Shadab, Nawaz to do this job. No one from these are good enough to be called as a genuine all-rounder.

Pakistan has abundance of rellu kattas look at our Squad, Iftikhar Shadab Nawaz Wasim Jr. All are rellu kattas aka partridge quail

Ironically IK was one of the best alrounders in history.

He did not mean all alrounders == railu kattay. Its just alrounders like Shadab and Nawaz who can classify as railu kattay.

I looked up Shadab's stats in 2023, an average of 19 with the bat and 42 with the bowl (bowling average skewed due one 4 wicket hail against Nepal). With these stats he does not deserve to be even in the A team, yet continues to play because best friends with Captain Dosti Yaari.

I mean that’s what Imran Khan meant.

He urged the selection of specialist batsmen & bowlers — and used “railu kattas” in the same sentence, implying all-rounders.

That’s very characteristic of Imran Khan’s decisions when he was captain. He hated all-rounders and never selected them. It was always specialist batters & bowlers that made his XI.

Wasim Akram was a regular player in IK’s XI. He was an all-rounder at the start of his career, but he was forced by IK to focus on his bowling only. What a bowler he was.

I think it’s quite clear. IK hated all-rounders and always preferred dedicated batters & bowlers that were exceptional in their own roles.

Our batting ends at 5, I have no words.

After Ifthikar, it’s Nawaz, Mir/Shadab and then the tail.

I’m done with this World Cup.

Yes.

Not every allrounder is a railu-katta.

But, Imad, Nawaz and Shadab are.

They are mediocre in every facet of the game.

99% of Pakistani all rounders are railu-katta.

IK is right once again.

We need to get rid of Mohammed Nawaz from the team.

Utterly horrible from Pakistan fraud all-rounders. There are other issues but this is a MAJOR issue.

Batting average in CWC

Shadab - 24
Nawaz - 20

Bowling average in CWC

Shadab - 118
Nawaz - 111

Terrible numbers

I think Agha Salman perfectly fits in this category. I don't think he has good enough batting or bowling skills to be in the Pakistan national side. He can bat a bit and bowl a bit, nothing special in any department.

Pakistan 2023 had huge stock of rellu kattas Shadab, Nawaz, Iftikhar, Agha, Wasim

Bits and piece players are picked basicaly to cover the inadequacies of the top order. In a way they helpe against Netherlands after they were 38/3. But they were not much of use against bigger sides. Biggest downside of having them is you can't easily drop them. They can always do something bare minimum in one department and cling on to their places indefinitely. Since these guys provide a cushion to the top order they get the support from them

Cricket in the old days was full of loveable rellu kattas.

Chris Harris, Ian Harvey, Robin Singh types of players. You knew what they were and they knew it too.

The modern bits and pieces players aren't so likeable.
