Who are your top 3 favorite umpires?

My top 3 favorite umpires are:

1) Aleem Dar
2) Simon Taufel
3) David Shepperd.

I also like Billy Bowden and Steve Bucknor (but, not among my top 3).

I don't know whether Doctrove was incompetent or biased. But, I agree he was not a good umpire. Neither is Kumar Dharmasena.

I thought Erasmus was okay.

Doctorve was very annoying specially in Pakistan games always hel bent on turning down appeals

I remember Pakistan once got robbed in West Indies due to bad umpiring. It cost them a series win in 2000.

Doctrove was one of the umpires I believe.

Billy Bowden was the most entertaining umpire... you can't get bored watching his funny gestures on the field but yeah he wouldn't be considered the best umpire as his decision making abilities were always in doubt, so i will also go with ur selected ones.

Aleem Dar - a great umpire but the Stuart Broad edge probably had a psychological effect on him as he just went downhill from there. A lot of people wouldn’t have seen it but the ball didn’t go directly from the bat to the slip, it touched the keepers glove on the way and that’s why Aleem thought it wasn’t out.

Simon Taufel - probably the best umpire, although he incorrectly gave Umar Akmal out vs NZ in a tournament (?), saw the ball hit bat in real time before he was given LBW.

I like the other 2, but imo aleem dar is average. Dude has proceeded to ignore clear wides many times. He good for lbw decisions but half the time doesn't give clear wides and no balls.

Dar declined during his final years but I think he was brilliant during his earlier days.

Same with Bucknor.

Focus and eyesight decrease maybe. Job fatigue.

Anyway, just my guess.

I remember Asoka de Silva.. His style was unique. Before putting his finger up, he would nod his neck..
Not my favorite but certainly notable umpire.

Billy Bowden's curvey fingers were very famous.

David Shepherd was very famous for his looks so was Bucknor.

Safe to say the best umpires are the ones who barely get noticed because usually only when umpires make blunders or do some monkey stuff so they get talked about. Very boring job.

That being said, I think Simon Tauffel was the most professional of the lot and the one who set the benchmark for what is expected from a modern era umpire. Just a day in day out reliable official.

Have you watched recently world cup match between Pakistan and India??

Babar was survived becouse of Erasmus .

Two decisions even overturned after India taken DRS against Erasmus .

Kumar Dharmasena is another ex-player who became an elite panel umpire. He was a regular in SL team. He also won the 1996 WC.

Another person is Paul Reiffel. He was in the 1999 WC winning team.
