With all due disrespect, our neighbours at home are right now undoubtedly the strongest force on this planet as far as test cricket is concerned and they are beating all comers as bad as it gets. South Africa, Australia, NZ, Sri Lanka, England etc you name it. All have fell to the power of Team Misbah. As things stand, its been nearly 8 years now since Pakistan lost a home series. How many years more before the streak is broken and who will that team be?

It'll probably take a Rabada-Morkel-Steyn combo to take Pakistan down.

Second would be India, but they got no one quality apart from Ashwin.
 
It will never be broken! Within some years cricket will return to Pakistan, so this record will stay intact forever

They play spin as well as us, or maybe better so our major weapon will be nullified.
 
South Africa and Nz haven't won a series but they haven't been taken down either.
 
Nowadays winning a series in the UAE has become the most coveted and tasking one than in South Africa and Australia :)
 
Op is literally begging everyone to say India, because India is the only major test nation that hasn't played in the uae unless you count West Indies as a major test nation.
 
India easily, if their spinners are in form. The only team atm which can nullify Yasir Shah, who is to stay for another 5-7 years at least
 
India or Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka came really close in the winter 2013 series.
 
I think South Africa can win a test series in UAE...On the flip side last time we played our team was not so experienced so may be we can beat them as well.

India can beat us you have to add the added pressure of playing with them, but then this added pressure is shared.

SouthAfrica and India might be the only teams who can do it. SAF have a better chance

Taking 20 wickets in UAE is right now next to impossible for a touring side thereby making Pakistan the toughest place to win. England could bowl out India in like 3 of the 4 matches in India thanks to their spinners and our pitches.

Don't know whether they can take 20 wickets but they can really make some mammoth daddy tons. Imagine ABD in this form in UAE. LOL

No doubt about this. But their fast bowlers are more better than us, as we have seen UAE pitches supports leggie a lot, surely Immy can handle our batsmen easily. On the other hand, it will be a hardest challenge for our bowlers to take 20 wickets.

Team Pakistan, in it's current state is unbeatable in the UAE. Sure, a couple of teams might win a single test each due to ball tampering or a freak innings but a series win? Forget about it.

First the world needs to wait until Misbah, Younis and Hafeez retire. Then when Pakistan is in a rebuilding stage, they can sneak a 1:0 victory.

Pakistani team has a problem when they are playing as one team member no one can beat them but when ever they lose they lose because of their self

Our fast bowling unit is missing Aamir, Sohail khan like bowlers but if you see our backup or new lot they are not bad too can cause damage to any team

Aus sucks in the UAE
England had the strongest chance but failed
Sri Lanka are even worse than they were before so I don't think so
South Africa has a big chance but even they failed last time.
West Indies. lol wut
Bangladesh NEVER.
 
I would say that India have the best shot with Sri Lanka not far behind.

We did well to keep South Africa at bay - however, we should have beaten New Zealand.

I would also be disappointed if England managed to level this series.
 
Only Pak can beat Pak in the UAE (i.e. batting collapse, injuries, team selection, complacency etc).

SA were strong contenders, but without the use of zippers they struggled.

Eng had the best chance in 2012 with a quality spinner like Swann and a good backup in Panesar, plus a world class batting line up of Cook, Strauss, Trott, Pietersen, Bell, Morgan (was a good option at the time) and Prior.

Not many other teams out there.
 
Guys lets not get complacent, knowing F_C this is a mega jinx thread and we might end up losing the third test to the angraiz.

The only team which can do it is India. Because, they can come with good spinner and have the players who can counter attack our spinners.

For all those, who are counting on SL, I'll say SL is not what they use to be when Sanga and Mahela were playing.
 
I feel it would be India with the best chance followed by South Africa and New Zealand.
 
Hands down SAF...the last time they played here, we had 1 good match (out of 2) and that was obviously enough to draw the series because there were only 2 matches. Everyone knows what happened in the 2nd match in Dubai (we got destroyed). I was there watching that match live (was the only fan in the stadium for the first half hour, it was a beautiful experience, I could hear the players talking on the pitch).

But yeah I feel the one we won in Abu Dhabi against SAF was almost a fluke.
 
I would have gone for SA but Pak are undefeated in a series in the UAE against pretty much everyone; only India are left and I'd fancy our chances against them.
 
India, South Africa had to cheat to win game. New Zealand won due to our silly mistake not due to their skill.
 
Everyone is talking about who can beat Pakistan but no one is asking why exactly is Pakistan so good in UAE. What are they doing that's different from other teams? I mean, for Pakistan, playing in UAE is like playing in a neutral venue, its just that Pakistan have a final say on pitch preparation. So its not really a "home venue advantage" like most people think, its still a neutral venue at the end of the day.

I think the only way to beat Pakistan is to give them a taste of their own medicine by copying their tactics and strategies (whatever they maybe). But all of the teams so far play by their own tactics and strategies and are destined to lose IMO because they simply are not as good as Pakistan's.

We are the West Indies of 70s-80s of the modern era at home. No visitor expects to win, and considers a draw a victory. South Africa atm would probably be the Pakistan of the 80s in terms of coming close to dethroning us in UAE but couldn't succeed, just like Pakistan was the team that got the closest to beating WI in the 80s.

I don't recall any other streaks in any other sport that have stretched as long as our uae record in recent times. Only one that comes to mind is Floyd Mayweather's 49-0 win streak. And if we consider wins by KOs the same as a whitewash in cricket, then our 2 whitewashes vs Aus/Eng are comparable to his 26 KOs. :liam

They touring UAE is much more likely than them touring Pakistan, given the political messup on both sides
 
Any team who posses a good bowling attack with one decent spinner. Indians with spinners alone will not be able to win more than one match. No other team has good leg-spinners

West Indies has a chance if Bishoo, Warrican can bowl attacking lines, with Holder and Roach doing the rest
 
UAE is defo a fortress now for Pak. Very very very hard to beat Pakistan there.

Fortress also means you have BURY your oppositions and in the rare series where you are not good, get a draw.

But Pak is not winning that many games there either.

After England in 2012, only Aus was buried. All the rest of the series were draws (SL, SA and NZ). And if England had got more time in first test, it would be 1-1 here.

Pakistan has to improve on that regard and for that UAE has to go more bowler friendly which would lead to more awesome tests win or lose.

Tahir is horrible in Tests.
 
I'd say India if they get a better foil for option. They have the less experienced batting order but one that has been brought up on these pitches, and on form, each of their top 6 are deadly. However, they lack the perfect foil for Ashwin and this is where things will get tough for them but they certainly have the best chance.

It would've been intriguing and very exciting if they had actually gone through with playing us in December and would've been a quality contest. If they tour after Younus/Misbah retire then I firmly believe that they can beat us due to their middle order being more experienced while we bud in youngsters.

As of now, nothing separates them and it would be a VERY close contest, but I have a feeling Pakistan would edge it or it would be a draw.

Think about it, the best team of this gen was South Africa when they had Kallis and Smith, they were rocked by Tanvir Ahmed in the first series before AB and Kallis saved them and were so scared, they had to resort to ball tampering in the second series and if they couldn't do it who can?

SL were the best players of spin until Sanga and Jaya retired and they couldn't do it either.

India won't play but they were demolished by Moeen Ali in England! Even if they did play, the leg spin of Ahmed Shehzad or Azhar Ali would be too much for them, Pakistan could probably rest Yasir Shah for that series.

Of all teams, England haven't done too bad. Barring the first Test of the 2012 series, they've competed for most of each Test before throwing it away in a horrid session.
 
SA zipper incident have left a bad image.

for me currently it is no ONE.

And when amir will be back IA we will become more and more strong
 
If we played S.A in a 3 or 4 match series in UAE they would be the one team that could be capable of beating us.
 
Personally, I don't see anyone beating Pakistan for at least 6.5 years. Rest if course is destiny.
 
India can beat Pakistan in UAE, but only in ODIs. With the current test team, I don't see them beating Pakistan in tests, in UAE or anywhere else. Indians are not great players of spin now, they struggled big time against the likes of Moeen and Herath - so Yasir Shah will have them for breakfast.

Couldn't disagree more, I'm really confident we can play out Yasir, if yasir was an off spinner I would have had my doubts. When have we ever got destroyed by a leggie? Even in recent times?

When did we face a world class leggie in recent times? You are probably thinking of India outclassing Warne and others in the past, but let us come to the present.

I don't know on what evidence are you saying he will destroy us.
We struggle against even mediocre offies like moeen but never against mediocre leggies.
Yasir is world class but I doubt he will run through us unless the pitch is an absoulte square turner.
Indian's just look comfortable against leg spin.

But quality spinners are quality.

There was one average Bangladesh leggie who took 5 wickets against us but he was carted around (in that test).

A quality leggie may be carted by us too but he will pick wickets more frequently and affect us.

Our spin playing game is kinda dodgy these days. I won't say we would be destroyed by quality leg spin but I have no confidence whatsoever to say we will do well too (game's impact point of view - we will defo get runs and lose wickets but what's the ratio, I dunno).

Look I'm not saying he won't get any wicket off-course he will. Maybe he might get a 5-fer as well.
But would you rate it as great if he got figures like 5-120 or something?
That would be just an ok performance despite getting a 5-fer. 5-50 are the type of 5-fers you would call as destroying a line up.
Yasir would get wickets but I'm also sure we can take him for runs as well which would greatly reduce his impact.

There is something between 5-150 and 5-50.

What if he gets that 5-85 and we get rolled out for 300? Still impactful in getting a positive result for your team.

In the past, I could guarantee 5-85 won't happen cos we would have smashed 120 runs atleast by the time 5 wickets are taken but today...can you guarantee that?

Therein the difference.

Depends on kohli to be honest, he is the best player of leg-spin in our team.
As in a good defensive game and a good aggressive game as well.

Whenever a team depends on 1 batsman to play a particular bowler, usually it means trouble.

SA and Newzealand have already beaten Pakistan by an innings margin in UAE.
 
Even India won't be able to beat us if they ever tour probably will be draws.
