Who is ahmed safi abdullah, this guy is 16 years old and playing for SNGPL and taking wickets, why is he not playing for pakistan U-19.

Usama mir is also taking wickets and imran butt is scoring runs and they were not played against afghanistan U-19, they were all non fc players thats why they lost.

He has taken 6 wickets in his first match and he is playing his 2nd game right now and has already taken 2 wickets.

If this 16 year old guy is taking wickets in fc, why can be he in U-19 squad because almost all the U-19 players in the squad are not fc cricketers.

Tomarrow is quaid e azam trophy gold final final and he would be playing for SNGPL, exicted to see him.

another 16 year old guy , we need these more and more teenage players rather than these uncles which we saw in super 8.

why arent these 16 and 17 year old players picked for pakistan U-19

He has already got 19 FC matches under his belt and took a 7fer (7/46) while playing for CP's 2nd xi against Sindh's 2nd xi in QAE 2nd xi tournament.

Made 83* today.

His power hitting is impressive. He camps on the back foot and has strong base to hit from though most of his runs came through leg side.

I am more interested in his bowling skills is he igood enough to make it in the side on his bowling? His 15-20 batting average will just be a bonus.

Fifth highest wicket taker in the tournament right now! Has been performing decently for several years.

And now top scores for Central Punjab with a blistering almost T20-style knock of 83* coming in at number 10, despite many including his captain thinking he’s a genuine tail ender. Potentially a valuable asset as he’s still young.

Let’s see if he can take a couple more wickets in the fourth innings and ascend beyond 5th place in the bowler rankings.

Knowing that his captain is Saad Nasim, it's probably insecurity that he made him bat so low down the order.

Not 22 though. PCB needs to take serious action against this age fudging issue. It's embarrassing and getting really out of hand.

many of his shots landed between fielders , he was very very lucky. Can hit some meaty blows though.

looks 26 or 27 at least.

im surprised wasim khan hasnt made an issue of this, plagues pak cricket at all levels cos people unfairly hog age grade spots.

He looks like a decent hitter would have liked to see him actually play cricketing shots thou

From PCB Report:

Earlier, a blistering 83 not out from only 60 balls by Ahmed Safi Abdullah helped Central Punjab post 247 all out in their second innings after resuming the day at 96 for five.

The 22-year-old smoked six sixes and as many fours as he stitched defiant alliances of 62 and 68 runs with Bilawal Iqbal (14) and Waqas Maqsood (32), who were dismissed by Abrar Ahmed.

Do we have a source for this or just based upon eye?

The eye, a long and prolific history of Pakistani cricketers faking their age, and seeing many club cricketers that went on to play domestics, including Kamran Ghulam who used to be at least 3-4 years older than me and is now somehow 4 years younger than me.

Just a couple of months ago, a cousin's kid was advised to reduce his age by 2 years because he wasn't good enough for u16 and too old for u13. And his father got it done for him.

How is this process done? Don’t you need government contacts at NADRA? It’s shocking that it’s so easy for the average person.

The fact is that a lot of such things in Pakistan can be done through illegal channels that involve the exchange of money, be it changing your age, acquiring a driver's/gun license, avoiding customs duty, etc.

Going slightly off topic but request to mods to not delete this, we keep blaming the PCB for failing to control ages but truth is they can’t control what they don’t know. If the (fake) certificate is officially real then there’s really no way of verifying. At best they can institute a hard policy to immediately ban any player found to be cheating. They won’t find any, but if by chance 1-2 are found and banned, it will immediately set a precedent and scare others off from doing the same.

What really would be most effective is instituting a crackdown on these illegal channels by the government. Implement sting operations and take away the issuing license from any party found to be providing false birth certificates or exchanging drivers and gun licenses for money. Surely these kinds of sting operations can’t be too difficult to implement? Potentially lots of NADRA officials and customs officers who will be fired as a result.

Took 4 wickets today to bundle Northern, the table toppers, out for 157 in their second innings, leaving a total of 166 to chase for Central Punjab.

He currently sits with the 5th highest number of wickets in the tournament, and the best strike rate in the tournament. Takes a wicket every 35 balls, for reference, Nauman Ali takes a wicket every 40 balls and has bowled more than twice as many overs as Safi in the tournament (332 vs 146).

In other words, if Ahmed Safi Abdullah bowled as much for CP as the 4 wicket takers above him bowled for their respective teams, he would be the leading wicket taker in the tournament.

Difference is that those 4 are Nauman Ali, Sajid Khan, Zahid Mehmood, and Waqas Maqsood, and there’s a massive age difference.

Not bad at all.

From PCB report:

Earlier, Northern had resumed their second innings at the overnight score of 77 for two and were dismissed for 156 with Ahmed Safi Abdullah claiming four for 46 and Hasan Ali grabbing three for 30. Ahmed rounded up the match with six wickets for 77 and Hasan finished with seven wickets for 78.
