CJP says burning schools in Diamer was a 'conspiracy' against his dams initiative

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Saturday said that while his initiative to collect funds to build the Diamer-Bhasha dam had garnered immense support in the country, it had also fallen victim to "opposition".

During his address to the Multan Bar Council, Justice Nisar implied that Thursday night's incident when about a dozen educational institutions were burned down by miscreants in Gilgit-Baltistan's Diamer district was an act of opposition to his initiative to collect funds for the dam.

"Diamer is such a peaceful place. I went to Gilgit-Baltistan a few days ago and was told by sessions judges and locals that it has been years since there has been a robbery or murder in the area," he told members of the Council. "But as soon as we started talking about building a dam [there], 12 educational institutions were torched."

"Who is conspiring against Pakistan? We should think about this. I don't want to level irresponsible allegations against anyone but I am leaving it as a matter of thought for you people. For the past 60 years, no dam has been built and now that we are trying to build one, there are conspiracies against it.

"But you people are the protectors; the people of Pakistan will get this implemented!" he said, amidst chants of "chief teray jaan nisar, beshumar beshumar!" [you have countless supporters, chief!] He urged people to participate and support the construction of dams.

"[Building] this dam is unavoidable now. It is vital for the survival of the country," he asserted, and urged people to "quash any conspiracy" that might hinder the construction of the dams.

He also clarified that the Supreme Court had not ruled out the Kalabagh Dam; instead, the court has said that it should be built after all provinces reach a consensus over it. He added that the dams that are free of controversy and are not being opposed by anyone will be built first.

Last month, the CJP had announced that the top court will not interfere in the controversial issue of Kalabagh dam and was exploring alternative options to overcome the water crisis. If there is no consensus among the provinces over the Kalabagh dam, other measures must be taken to tackle water scarcity, he had said.

its the army..they conspired against Pakistan by making a son of the soil, a brave bahadur mujahid who spent all his money on the poor of Pakistan, who would not eat becasue his people were dying of hunger, who spent his blood sweat and tears on the front-lines fighting injustice, who was stitched up by the army. This horrible army that forced him to buy those expensive apartments across London. This mean evil army that prevented him from turning Pakistan into the next China. He was going to lead us all into the promise land by building roads and more roads and even more roads for his large fleet of Mercedes'.

I hear he was stopped by the army from building naan bakeries in every town and village that would supply roagni naan at all hours of the day to his poor downtrodden family..

What we need to do is replace the army with the Punjab police. The most efficient organisation in the history of Pakistan. Replace the generals with family members from Pir sahib Mujahid ibn sharif's household to ensure we get the benefit of his families amazing blessings. And finally the leader of the country should always be from this mubarak family because they are just blessed with such greatness and face such conspiracies that we must show our eternal gratitude..

Another purported audio leak featuring former chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar emerged on Monday wherein the former top judge could be heard using “harsh language” against PML-N chief organiser Maryam Nawaz.

In the purported audio, Nisar and other person said to be PTI lawyer Tariq Khawaja Rahim apparently discussing about the PML-N leader’s explosive speeches targeting the former chief justice.

In the clip, Tariq is alleged to have offered Nisar to "give the woman that speaks so much a befitting response" or "hit her somehow".

To this, Nisar is alleged to have said that he had the "courage to bear it out, but when the need arises, I will ask you to do something explosive on the side".

Or to raise awareness of a neglected area of our development. Afterall, Dams would have kept PK electricity prices under check. As you are simple man, you dont realise that Dams would mean no commissions for the crooked families through RENTAL POWER PLANTS

Explosives thrown into ex-CJP Saqib Nisar’s house

LAHORE: Two police personnel were injured when unidentified attackers threw explosives into the house of former chief justice of the Supreme Court, Saqib Nisar, in Ahmad Block of Garden Town here on Wednesday night.

The former CJP and his family members were in the house when the incident occurred, however, they remained unhurt.

Shortly after the incident, Saqib Nisar told some media persons that he and his family members remained safe as they were inside the house, while the attack was carried out at the main entrance where the police personnel were discharging their duty.

As per initial inquiries, it was not clear what sort of explosives were used by attackers.

Two policemen injured

Mr Nisar has been in controversy for his role in the ouster of then prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

Lahore Operations DIG Ali Nasir Rizvi told Dawn that two policemen who were discharging security duty at the residence of the former CJP got injured in the attack.

“Justice retired Saqib Nisar and his family remained safe”, he said, adding that the attackers fled the scene and the law enforcement agencies were in the field to trace them.

To a question, the DIG said it would be premature to confirm whether the attackers used hand grenade or crackers. “Most probably, it was a hand grenade”, he said, adding that the forensic experts and other relevant officers have reached the scene and started working.

The attack occurred at 8:40pm, he said, adding that the forensic and police experts have collected parts of the exploded material that seemed to be of a hand grenade.

“Lahore police have been put on high alert, entire area has been cordoned off and pickets erected on all the major roads to trace the attackers”, the DIG said.

He said the injured policemen were identified as Muhammad Amir and Khurram Shahzad.

Another official said the personnel of other security agencies have also reached the spot and launched separate investigations into the incident.

He said a police van and car of ex-CJP’s secretary were partially damaged in the attack, that also shattered some windowpanes of the house.

He said Mr Nisar has been requested to give the investigating officials access to the data of security cameras if installed inside or outside his house.

However, DIG Rizvi told Dawn that no security camera was installed inside or outside the residence of the ex-CJP.

The DIG said police teams are trying to get data of CCTV cameras installed in nearby streets to trace the attackers.

He said it was yet to be ascertained whether the attackers were riding a bike or used a car.
