Historically, there have been a few standouts here and there but more of the modern fielders are international standard, and beyond.

Adding a bunch of options, let me know if I missed out any major ones.

Is there any Pakistani EVER better than Y Khan in the slips? He takes the best fielder award and walks away.

Slip fielding is an art. Not very many people can master it. You have to be alert all the time. In theory, one can question how hard it can be? In reality, ....yeah that is why you guys haven't found a replacement. One catch saves how many runs? Especially in the top order? The ball is swinging for the fast bowlers.

Dead pitch, the spinners gets a rare nick on a settled batsman, YK takes it. How many times it has happened?

As I said, he walks away with the best fielders award.

Shezzy was a gun fielder

After I read your post:

ahmad-shahzad-injury-trolls-cover.jpg

Can't believe Shehzad is considered a top fielder here. He put down a lot of very easy catches
He was better at useless dives more than anything else

Malik for me. Consistently good to great for 18+ years

Younis is the best slip catcher
Shadab is the best ground fielder
Malik is just a great all round fielder

Saleem Malik and Ijaz Ahmed were both top class fielders. I am gonna give to Saleem who was slightly better. Wasim RRaja was another fine one having seen old footage.

Apart from those already mentioned, Imran Nazir was a top fielder would be in my top 5 of pak fielders

Tough call. It is something in which Pakistan have been well below par compared to the other cricket teams.

Younis is up there I believe, that again goes to show the importance he possessed to the Pakistan tests team. Malik is another fantastic fielder. Cant pick many names unfortunately, maybe Afridi as well.

To Name a few
1) Younis Khan slips
2) Malik
3) Saleem Malik
4) Shadab Khan
5) M.Rizwan

I think the best fielder we have is a tie between Rizwan and Shadab

I think Afridi deserves to be included in the poll at least. He was pretty good for most of his career.

Anwar Ali was an excellent fielder, shame he was not so good with bat or ball.

Out of the ones in the poll, for me it's Imran Nazir. He was great at catching, diving to stop the ball, had good speed to chase down a boundary bound shot and was also accurate at affecting run outs. Overall, he was the complete package.

Not one person has mentioned Fawad Alam who is arguably the best fielder Pakistan has ever produced.

Another one from past is Shoaib Mohammad amazing outfielder and brilliant close catcher

I remember Younis dropping some easy crucial catches when he was not fielding at slip.

Shoaib Malik has been outstanding from the start of his career to now; that's legendary. Anwar Ali and Shadab are great fielders too but the worst ever fielder is without a doubt Sir Sohail Tanvir

Shame he couldnt hold a cricket bat ;)

Shame he couldnt hold a cricket bat ;)

He had his days, particularly in T20Is but sadly short-lived and never all that consistent in ODIs whatsoever.

Perhaps, could have been used more as a super sub in fielding back in the day?

Asif Iqbal looked slick in the field in some of the old highlights I've seen.

Off the top of my head it'd be Ijaz Ahmed(deadly left arm throw which caught plenty batsmen short who thought he was right handed), Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Younis Khan, Fawad Alam and Shadab Khan.

Agreed Shoaib was great in the past era. In the current period I think it has to be Shadab or Fawad Alam!!

It's between Younis and Imran Nazir for me. Nazir was more athletic and had a better throwing arm while Younis was fitter than anyone in the side and was an exceptional slip catcher.

I'm going with Younis Khan - hard to ignore all those 100 or so catches he took at test level. Imran Nazir had a very short Pakistan career so I don't feel it would be fair for him to get the nod over him but was the complete package.

Nazir was probably the most explosive and naturally gifted athlete to play for Pakistan. But technically, it has to be Shadab.

Malik , Younis, fakhar, shadab, imran Nazir, fawad Alam, rizwan, Anwar Ali l, Afridi, Sami, were all really good

Umar Akmal.

Unreal outfielder and had taken unreal catches over the years.

I remember he was asked about keeping and his response was he was never allowed to keep as his brothers did so he had never ever kept before.

To pick up the gloves at the highest level right away no experience and keep to speed and spin is unheard of.

Tell me if all them men everyone else has picked could they do that.

If you put your hate aside you’d see he’s our greatest ever fielder.

Best ever?

Hmmmm has to be Shoaib Malik, he was quick, safe pair of hands and quite consistent. Younis and Afridi would get honourable mentions.

I remember in one series against England (1982 maybe) Haroon Rasheed was dubbed as super sub due his brilliant catches at forward short leg as subsitute fielder.

Asif Iqbal was a superb fielder too - very athletic and quick across the ground.

Afridi - was probably our best fielder in the days when Wasim was captain

Akmal - probably best when Misbah was captain. Excelled in outfield

Today - have multiple good fielders compared to years past. Maybe Shadab?

I don't recall a Pakistani team with as many very good fielders as they have nowadays.

In the past, Pakistan had a couple of good fielders, a few decent ones and a couple of carthorses who they had to hide in the field. These days it's 7 or 8 very good fielders, a couple of good ones and only the occasional poor fielder.

Asad Shafiq should be added to that poll, seen him take some blinders in the slip, hardly ever drops them.

To be fair, Asad has done a great job.

Yeah took an insane amount of catches 139 in Tests, 135 in ODI's, and 12 in T20I's - 286 in total!

consistently throughout his career malik has been either the best or top 3 fielders in Pakistan team.

However, currently these days shadab and fakhar are better fielders.

But overall yes, malik.

Shadab clearly at the moment

Shadab is an absolutely ridiculous fielder. A match-winning one.

Anyone remember how electric Imran Nazir was in his prime. What a fielder he was

Between Rizwan or Anwar Ali.

Two unbelievable athletes and I've not anyone as good as these two.

Shadab is probably the best all round fielder but theres a few who are up there

Rauf is excellent for a bowler Pretty much most now are good to safe in the field

Theres no real poor fielders in the pakistan anymore

1. Ijaz Ahmed
2. Shoaib Mohammad
3. Shoaib Malik
4. Qasim Omar
5. Asif Iqbal

People have already named newer players

Shobby Malik is the greatest fielder of all time from Pak

Imran nasir in the covers was great. Malik might be the best. Old days ijaz ahmed

Yes, Imran Nazir was very good fielder . If people remember his fielding after so many years , he got to be very good.

I have seen almost all in the list live :).

Shadab for me. Absolutely lifts the team. Does match winning stuff. Gun fielder.

Losing his touch a bit by dropping some easy catches by his lofty standards. To be fair, he is doing far far better in his other two disciplines too.

An MVP.

In terms of theatrics, definitely Shadab. He would make a regulation catch look like a blinder and would take three tumbles when he could have stood his ground.

He is one of the most injury prone players and is always carrying a niggle. Maybe if he stops being Akshay Kumar in the field he would avoid these unnecessary niggles and injuries.

Young Afridi, Younis, Nazir, Ijaz, Malik, Anwar and Rizwan were all great in the field. Pakistan have made some really good fielders over the years but they would get cancelled out by the fact that most of the players were dreadful.

If we talk about catching only then Inzamam was very efficient with bucket like hands.

Rizwan and UA in recent times, unfortunate that they've had to play WK quite a bit. Shadab is quite good too, but he does overdo it sometimes and should be more careful with how he acts on the field. Afridi and Imran Nazir back in the day.

This new guy Muhammad Waseem…. He is also an excellent fielder in the outfield. He has bucket like hands similar to some Westindies players and also has a rocket like throw. I don’t remember him dropping any catch except one in Pk v Eng series.

Shadab clearly at the moment

Incredible - brilliant

Javed Miandad was an incredible fielder in his youth.

A great cricketing brain who could almost predict where batters would hit the ball.
