I'm gonna go for Mickey Arthur.

Bob Woolmer was a terrific coach who brought badly needed stability to after years of turmoil. We never lost a home Test series whilst our ODI team was strong with wins against England, India away, Sri Lanka away and a whitewash in West Indies. He also had a great eye for talent whilst getting the best out of players like Inzamam, Yousuf, Younis, Afridi, Butt, Akmal, Naved and Malik.

However not being able to win an ICC tournament, and the way the 2007 WC ended was a huge disappointment. That wasn't entirely Woolmer's fault - the two goons Akhtar and Asif were too chicken to take a drug test so faked injuries to avoid selection, robbing Bob of two of his premier pacers.

Arthur inherited a team that had nowhere near as many big names as the 2004-07 side did. We were tottering at 9th in the ODI rankings and 7th in the T20 rankings having been dumped out of the group stages of the WT20. Arthur hasn't had any international series at home. The fitness and fielding culture he inherited was deplorable and he had an extremely tough touring schedule in his first year.

However he has tolerated no crap and has instilled discipline into this team. Our fielding hss markedly improved and his development of young players has been outstanding. Winning the Champions Trophy with a weak squad on paper was a fantastic achievement and no accident. His tactical nous, encouragement of a fearless attitude and a great understanding with captain Sarfraz brought it about.

Yes results other than the CT triumph may not seem special on paper but the work he's doing behind the scenes will pay off. Even then, we drew with England in a superb series, chased 300 in England for the first time ever, beat West Indies in all formats home and away including a first ever Test triumph in the Caribbean, won an ODI in Australia for the first time since 2005 and whitewashed Sri Lanka 8-0 in the ODI and T20 series recently.

Arthur's contract should be extended to the 2023 WC whilst Bob Woolmer should have the NCA named after him.

Agreed. The team is on a positive curve upwards and is set to achieve greater heights under this Mickey/Azhar partnership

I will go with Bob Woolmer.

He was better man manager , also several players improved under him.

Bob Woolmer is head and shoulders above the rest, not just Pakistan's best coach but arguably the greatest coach of all time.

As it stands Mickey is doing a great job in the limited forms and he deserves credit for being instrumental in our CT line up while Waqar deserves big praise for masterminding our run in Tests to no.1. But neither are at Bob Woolmer's level who was fantastic across all formats and an excellent man manager; he was also equipped to provide technically sound advice on all facets of the game. His life's work is evidence of his genius in the "art and science of cricket" book, it's basically an encyclopedia on cricket history and a fantastic coaching manual on batting, bowling, fielding in addition to the mental aspect / technique's you could use which was incredibly insightful. Coach's of Woolmer's calibre come once every generation, he was one of a kind who was very innovative / creative beyond his amazing grasp for fundamentals; there may never be another quiet like that great great man.

Mickey. He's been able to understand our guys and most importantly has a danda.

Mickey won a global tournament, but the test form has been absolutely shambolic under him. Not to mention losing to teams like Srilanka and West Indies in the UAE.

My vote is for Woolmer - had a whole propaganda going against him with greats like Imran Khan saying Bob doesn't know what he's doing.

However look at the bowling lineup at his disposal when Akhtar and Asif weren't around - Sami, Rana Naved, Rao iftikhar Anjum, Razzaq.

Also we became a great chasing side under Woolmer and Inzi, a much needed reform in our cricket.

Mickey's coaching is riding on a wave of CT win sandwich win between wins against WI. The rest is all turmoil. To tell you the truth no one in their right mind will say Pakistan can repeat that performance again. Such is the unpredictability of this side. Still big improvements needed in our ODI side... I won't take this CT as a measure of our progression coz bigger tests lie ahead.

based on trophies, has to be Inti Alam - won 2 world cups!

Now that the joke is over, I wished Miandad would have been given a longer run. He was the only one that got Afridi to play sensible cricket

Bob gets my vote. But if Arthur can improve his test record I'll go with him.

Mickey..

Woolmer is overrated. He was good but ultimately could not change the team culture like Mickey did.

It's between Mickey and Woolmer.

A special mention for Mohsin Khan who coached a series win over the #1 team in the world without doing anything other than sipping chai while sitting in a chair.

POTW for me

Mickey Arthur. More so than anything else for bringing a semblance of discipline and setting fitness standards in our team.

On a slightly unrelated note I never see any comments, good or bad, about our batting coach Grant Flower. How do you guys rate him?
