They say: "A chain is as strong as its weakest link". So is there any such issue with Pakistan team too that is holding it back. The recent non inclusion of Shaheen Shah Afridi in the 2nd Test is quite meaningful bearing in mind his awful show in the 1st Test against Bangladesh. Although Jason Gillespie has dismissed such reasoning straight away but is he or any other particular player the reason behind team's recent failures.

Share your thoughts regarding the weakest link in the team or do you believe the whole chain is brittle..

Pakistan needs a Solid number 3 like Azhar Ali. Shan Masood is not even decent batsman at this level.
In bowling front Naseem Shah. He is weakest link as he never bowl on consistent lengths.

Among the options, it's Babar Azam.

You already have Shafique, Saud, and Rizwan that are grafters. You need your best batter to be authoritative and score high-impact runs, which Babar doesn't.

Worst batsman in the side right now is Saim. Babar is out of form now and Abdullah but given they have performed in the past they will likely recapture form. I am a fan of Saim but can’t rate him until he’s actually done anything. Probably the batsman who I have the least faith in, he just looks indisciplined at the crease and not ready. I think 2 years of maturing in domestic and this guy would come back as a real gun player. Don’t think it’s a talent issue, he’s talented enough.

Masood is probably 2nd worst batsman. Though he performed better than most of our batsmen in Australia. I have feeling he might just click. I was genuinely surprised how good he looked at times against aus. But yeah he’s been bad.

Pacers have all not really done much yet. So I guess can be blamed too.

Our best batsman and player in tests right now is Saud.

Am disappointed kamran wasn’t included for 2nd test, seeing how well Saud did. We need to reward our domestic performers, this guy broke records he deserves a chance.

positive mindset is basically the weakest link in this Pakistan team. Everyone seems to be on the backfoot, playing just to secure their place in the team rather than focusing on winning the game for the country.

what about salman agha? dont understand his utility
The dude scored multiple 50's during the nz series, and did well in the test prior to this.

Him having one bad bamgaldesh series does not qualify him to be the worst.

The worst are easily Shan, Babar, Shaheen and saim Ayub atm. However

Shaheen and Babar for all their faults have performed in all 3 formats for Pakistan before.

Meanwhile Shan is objectively, Factually and statistically the worst opener/top order bat with 50+ games for pakistan and has never done a damn in his entire career and saim ayub is the same.

Seriously it took saim 25 international games to finally get a half century and even then he felt dodgy once he got his 50. And he felt like a waste in the 2nd innings.

Agha has played some handy knocks so he is not the weal link IMO. I think it is definitely Shan on number 1. He is a walking wicket.

Mir Hamza is gonna bowl in this Test at SSA's expense. Let's see what difference can he make

The chain itself is made of straw , so not one link but entire chain right from administrators to players , all are done and dusted.

Shan (doest not look a test number 3)
Shaheen - massive disappointment.
Spinners - if Abrar is the best god help you.

Sad to see Pakistan in this state.

The bright spots.
Saud Shaeel
Salman Agha
AamerJamal
Naseem Shah (potentially)

In terms of weakest to strongest(LOL strongest not saying much)

1) Abrar (having a test specialist mystery spinner who can't take wickets and is expensive is criminal, spinners are the pride of test cricket, taking crucial wickets in intervals and bowling the longest spells.)

2) Shaheen Afridi (This dude is completly farigh now, your ace bowler being a trundler is a no no for test)

3) Naseem shah( I'll be fair to Naseem, he should have gotten 4 wickets instead of 2 as his catches were dropped, but he's gained weight, can't bowl line and length and is rubbish)

4) Babar Azam (Can I ask what's the point anymore? He's ironically been the worst batter in the entire squad so far, Everyone else albeit kedicore have scored 50's here and their)

5) Abdullah Shafique (I'd have put him lower but his century changed my mind, Regardless still got bowled for a duck, and overall is rubbish)

6) Saim Ayub (This man scored 2 half centuries when conditons were difficult in the first Test against Bangladesh thanks to rain, So for me that 50 he made is > Abdullah's 100 on a phatta, but he's overall been a failure as well, also he took 2 wickets deapite not even being a bowler)

7) Shan Masood (Atrocious and rubbish captain, his 151 has forced me to put him here sadly, but he's a crap batsmen and his fraud narrative of playing positive is irritating the life out of me)

8) Muhammad Rizwan (Tbf to rizzu he did alright in Bangladesh series, but omg he's so rubbish ahainat any bowler who's half decent and he's so rubbish as a keeper behind the stumps, catch it catch it. Mazzaq chal raha hai kya? Pure bottler)

9) Saud Shakeel (Again tbf, he only scores soft runs in the first innings and he can bowl, but he's always rubbish in the 2nd innings and overall rubbish as a whole)

10) Aamer Jamal (To be fair conditons were tough and Shan made horrible field selections, He bowled okay for a bowling allrounder, can't expect much and he batted well too in 2nd innings going not put. His fielding is also great. Ik he's medicore but you can't fault him for being interested and being the only bowler who tried his best and only batter who tried)

11) Agha (He and jamal are the only gems so far. Yes it's a phatta but these 2 are the only cricketers who give me the feeling of hard work and effort. Not Shan Masood)

If there was one weak link, it would be easier because then you could just drop him. Thing is, right now the whole team is at rock-bottom.
Their all weak but Abrar is the weakest link, Agha is the strongest link, Jamal 2nd strongest link.

Too many weak links right now ( last 2 years )

Spin department is in the most critical state.

Pakistan haven't had a stable spinner since Yasir Shah.

Abrar is the weakest link.

The team has no quality in its spin department and that makes things ten times worse.

To be fair, in my eyes the only players worth keeping around right now are Agha, Jamal, Naseem, and Saud. They have some fighting spirit in them despite being flawed.

The rest need time away to regroup and regain their form in FC cricket.

Points aside, You typing all this on your phone ?

When the captain is not capable of performing, the team generally struggles too. The captain pakistan chose is no leader honestly.
