Hi Friends,

are you using PTCL's High Speed Broadband Packages? (8mb, 12mb, 16mb, 20mb, 50mb and above)
using on copper wire or fibber?

Rates are better now,
what speed are you getting and how is the experience.

Don't know about PTCL.

Here's my result from China...

Your download speed is great, but upload is not that good why?

That is one seriously sharp download speed. :O

The highest my DSL download speed reaches is 8 Mb/s.

Wow even better than my download speed and that ping response is insane.

im using 4mbps ptcl internet and usually my download speed is around 3.5. its pretty decent. However when i lived in england for a year i had virginmedia and my download speed was 25 mbps and upload speed was about 4

If you don't need unlimited downloads. Why not go for a Zong Wingle/Dongle with a monthly package? The speed is really good i get 10-15 mbps on 3g and even more in 4g areas.

Unlimited is the main thing bro.

If you want unlimited than i will never recommend any 3g service like telenor/zong etc because of expensive packages and low download limits btw i get around 1.5 to 2 mega byte/sec download in torrent and idm at night (off peak hours) and around 1mb/sec in day time.

Ptcl wingle on the other hand have a 300gb per month that is pretty cheap in 2000 rupees per month but the speed sucks in most areas.

I personally stopped using PTCL DSL back in 2008-9 because the lines in my area were too old and i had lot od disconnection problem almost once every 5 minutes.

Welcome to the world of censorship where Chinese government regulates what goes out of the country, but not what comes in !

I need this speed to stream cricket, tennis and Football through Kodi.

That is one truly insane download speed, I bet your 1 GB file download will complete in like 1-2 minutes with your connection speed. Wish we had a DSL connection like yours to subscribe to, which would spare us a hell a lot of time and frustration in surfing.

I download complete blu rays 50gb in around 1 hour 10 minutes depending on some network discrepancy. Should be really 50 minutes but life doesn't work that way.

I did a test once

DVD rip 700 mb : 37 sec
720p HD movie 4 gb : 7 minutes 42 sec
1080p HD movie 12gb : 19 minutes minutes
Full Blu Ray Disc : 50gb : 1 hour 05 minutes to 15 minutes depending on network ups and downs.

Man! That's just totally awesome, seriously I'm envious, it usually takes 20-30 minutes for my broadband to download a 700MB file  and the timing of download also matters, speed is usually brisk in the morning hours while post evening its garbage irrespective of connection you're subscribed to. I've tried upto 16MBPS broadband package for efficiency but there is hardly any difference when you're surfing at night.

Lol, I asked for 100mb connection but apparently they don't have it in my area :)))

Told me to wait for a bit...

Why would you subscribe to 100MBPS? You can watch online HD streaming and other stuff without any hindrance or buffering with your existing connection, moreover your downloading speed is extremely efficient which is probably 100 times more faster than my connection.

Why bother upgrading your broadband connection unless you're a speed freak? :23:

I use 4mbps PTCL and have found the download speed to be hovering around 3-4 which is genuinely quite good. However, line issues plague PTCL more than speed. So, the speed wont be an issue but reliability would be.

Have you considered paying for the illegal content you have downloaded?

Seems my university was quite ahead of it's time. 100mbps in 2010 is still the top speed I have been exposed to.

Pakistan seems to have some decent broadband too.. didn't think it would be this fast.

Because I assumed that Pakistan's Internet services would be quite backward. Even in India, 50-100mbps connections weren't as common one year ago.

A very poor assumption to make in the age of globalization where a single search would have told you regarding the internet speeds.

Pakistan is just right next to india. How could you assume that Pakistan would be backward if India isnt in terms of internet? Seems downright condescending to me.

50mbps and 100mbps connections were launched in 2014 but there are only 20,000+ users of these connections,

BTW what are the rates of Broadband (Wire Line) Connections of 20mb,30mb,50mb,100mb in india?

Because I remember some reports from 2013 and 2014 where Pakistan was ranked amongst the worst. I am sorry if you took offense, wasn't the intention.

A lot more affordable now compared to a few years ago. My 40mbps home connection costs INR 3500 while 50mbps one costs INR 1100 (25GB limit, 1mpbs thereafter).

in Pakistan 8mb and above are unlimited.
30mbps is 7500
50mbps is 10,000
100mbps is 20,000

what speed do you get from your 40mbps in download and upload on torrent and idm?

Do you get call benefits with these plans? Both my plans give me 3-5MBps with upload speeds being around half that.

China is known for piracy and knock offs; you are just proving the stereotype here.

Piracy is everywhere in the world.

I won't pay for one hour flick or a TV show unless I absolutely have to.

If you want to, you can.

was using evo in pakistan couple of months ago.

very very slow especially peak times 8pm

is it really your internet speed? just amazing.

Yea, it's the norm here! Pretty bored really, need to catch-up with Seoul with 1Gb/s - maujan hi maujan!

Google Fiber also gives 1 GB/sec

Honestly speaking, beyond a certain point speed doesn't matter because it is dependent on file servers.

If you want to download a torrent , you're only going to get as much speed as leechers giving you the file.

If you use usenet you can max out your connection upto 100-150 mb/sec but after that I think, even their servers can't give you the file quicker.

So beyond a certain point, speed is useless.

Although I would accept anything between 100-200 mb as DonJee showed as the range to look for, if you want perfect downloads not affected by server limitations.

I have 50 Mbps/ 100 GB for 2000... there are other providers providing 100 Mb/125 GB for same rate, unfortunately not in my area. Hathway provides 50 Mbps / 50 GB for 1100 i guess.

Hathway provides 50Mbps/25 GB for 1100. I have this for my office, but the FUP limit is too low for home usage, so my primary connection is Airtel.

oh if you just need for whatsapp, facebookm twitter etc and light browsing just get a zong sim and use 3g/4g.

should be cheap. 3-400rs for sim and then you can have packages for 7-800 and thats it

ok cool ill look into that thanks.

Internet is very expensive in Pakistan especially the ones with good speeds. They provide at best 20 gb limit for 1200 rupees.Even though speeds are from 200 to 400 kps PTCL's unlimited packages around 2000 seems like the best available options right now.

how are things are in India? is it expensive there too?

Not any more. 50 Mbps connections starts at INR 1200. It has a 35gb FUP, but my ISP hardly ever throttles the speed down irrespective of data use (I average 500 gigs a month).

Things are about to get even cheaper. Reliance is bringing 1Gbps connections, and it is likely to be dirt cheap. http://www.bgr.in/news/reliance-jio...dband-tariff-plans-to-start-at-rs-500-report/

That doesn't seem right. Why do they have a FUP if they don't apply it, to the extent that you can use more than 10x the amount of bandwidth?

That is 100% right. They are providing good services, but everything else about my ISP is as incompetent as MTNL or BSNL. They just don't care. The day they start enforcing it, I'll switch to some other provider.

Wired broadband plans are affordable ,Unlimited plans starts from 500rs with minimum 1mbps speed after fup limits. Mobile data is expensive, 2g/3g/4g plans for one month with 1gb to 2gb data limits is priced between 150 to 250 rs.

In Delhi , i went for local internet. For around 830 Rs , i got 7mbps download speed without any FUP limit. A 60gb torrent download took around 22 hrs. I am pretty happy with it as i can watch youtube videos at 1080p without buffering.

At any rate, I doubt their service is as good as their banter.
