Unfortunately vice captain is injured. Who will replace him? Around one year ago Hafeez booked his spot for another year by beating Australia so he shouldn't get it again.

I would go with Babar.

I would go with Babar.

Good option, but many disagree because he is "timid" or "soft."

Still I think it would be a good option to grow him as a leader. This will help his future cricketing skills.

Hasan Ali

Smart with fire in his belly

Another option is Fakhar Zaman who has already shown his captaincy prowess in domestics.

Actually whenever watch a video of the team off-field then it looks like Fakhar is the leader of the bunch. He's the guy.

PCB doesn't plan for the future. A official VC has never been announced anyway.

If I had to pick I would go with Hasan Ali or Babar Azam.

Plus there should be no issues of “senioritis” as he will only be a VC.

First and foremost lets define what is a vice-captain and whats its role?

If the captain is off the field due to injury or some other reason, generally the vice-captain takes over the official role while the captain is absent, but it doesn't have to be him, any other player would be permitted to act as captain.

There is nothing official in the rules about the role of the vice-captain, and what they actually do in practice varies between different teams. Some teams don't have a vice-captain at all and instead have just a 'leadership group' of senior players who help the captain by suggesting tactics, field placements, bowling changes etc.

In theory, a leader always needs a second in command. Even though the role of a vice-captain is not strongly written or easily visible to the public, he plays a key role in working together with the captain to come up with strategies and help in decision making. Most of his work is done behind the scene.

That said, to be honest, I've never seen Imad advising Sarfraz in crunch moments. Azhar, Malik or Hackfeez do these services at times. Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised if any of these three will step up if situation arises.

VC means if the captain has to leave the field for some reason or gets injured in the game, who will lead the side with strategics, bowling changes, field positioning, pep talks.
I think Shoaib Malik is the ideal guy for that. Has plenty of experience as a leader, is highly respected in the team(not on this forum :P), and is a guy a junior can rely on as he has been seen helping Sarfraz in recent few months. Plus Malik's speech in the dressing room after loss to india in CT was what Arthur said was fate changing moment of the tour.

I don't know if posters are delusional or naive who are naming Hassan and Shady for VC.

I mean since when you guys are following Pakistan cricket? Don't you know how these matters are handled in PCB?

Why was Imad even the VC in the first place? That guy doesn't even merit a spot in the playing XI....:inti
