- Seriously just ONE spinner in a UAE Test
- Shuffling around Azhar like no tomorrow. He has batted as a #3, then opener and now #3 again in just little over a year
- Continued selection of Shafiq despite it being apparent for a while that his performances have tapered
- Shan Masood love-in

Been following this subplot for over a year.

Sloggy's points reg Mickey Arthur does have merits.

Yes, Pakistan played badly (4th innings collapse as usual) but the whole playing decision making process has been a mess. And it's been this way for quite a while.

1 spinner in UAE is the biggest blunder. You have to play fakhar as opener because these opener don't know how to play strokes. They played with SR of 30s 40s against these SL pace. Shame full lose.

INZI! Y is he selecting useless batsman like masood while fawad should be playing and could easily have won us this game or done much better than our disgraceful batting today.

Well Misbah was getting all the blame previously- nobody will dare to blame Sarfaraz.

If you ask Markhor and company, then Waqar Younis.

Ohhh please!! Enough with Misbah and his heroics. He also gave us lose against Zim

Let's all agree to keep blaming Misbah for the next 12-18 months.

Who do you think ? I'm a supporter of both Sarfraz and Arthur but we had shot ourselves in the foot from the outset with the rubbish team selection and batting order.

Shan Masood is not good enough for a squad place let alone the starting XI, its one cheap wicket down before a ball is bowled. Azhar Ali should NOT have been shifted from opening spot when he'd proven himself there in all our tough away tours.

We selected THREE spinners in the squad yet picked one. I don't believe Sri Lanka would've scored 419 or even 138 in the 2nd innings had we picked a second spinner, not to take anything away from Chandimal and Dickwella's performances.

The grass on the pitch reason was nonsense - it was cosmetic to hold the pitch together. Its not live grass and in the blazing sunshine in Abu Dhabi that grass turns brown quickly and the pitch will deteriorate so three seamers is a waste.

The batting order is also badly unbalanced as we've grafters from 1-4 and strokeplayers from 5-10. Haris Sohail has shown enough in this Test that he should bat at 3 whilst Babar Azam doesn't seem to have found his game for Tests and needs taking out of the firing line by demoting him to 6. Your "stabiliser" should be at 5 like Fawad or Salahuddin and Babar is not that type of player.

This was always going to be a tough transition losing two anchors in Younis and Misbah and Arthur and Sarfraz have earned enough goodwill after the Champions Trophy. But its sickening to lose to this weakened Sri Lanka team that was missing Angelo Mathews.

One can see the squad to determine who is responsible for this pathetic selection for top order bats.

Blame is on Inzamam ul Haq & Co.

You have 4 undeserving tried and tested mental midgets like Sami Aslam, Shan Masood, Babar Azam and Asad Shafiq. And only 2 new batsmen selected [Haris Sohail, Usman Salahuddin] which means only 1 can be replaced by the Tour management, whereas they have to carry forward 3 of the above-mentioned 'Fantastic 4' who lost them the first test.

Honestly his tactics in Tests are all over the place.

And we have been seeing losses due to tactical errors and team selection for a while now.

Its embarrassing to lose 8 out of last 10 tests.

Lot of people said that NZ and Aus losses shouldnt be considered as we would have lost there anyway. But how do you justify losing to WI in UAE and then later in Carribean? Even the Dubai we barely beat WI! So performances have been in a downward spiral for a while. Also I dont believe that the NZ and Aus sides were so good that we should have lost 5-0. NZ were actually a mediocre side whereas Aus were coming off a 5 match losing streak just a test prior. And there too there were tactical errors

I have been harsh on Arthur but its probably more so because his fan totally fail to even acknowledge that his selections and tactics are part of the problem. Atleast take some ownership. Everyone from Waqar to Misbah to pitches to weather is to blame but not Arthur

obviously... I like his work with the ODI team and that he is so proactive. Also he does well with aggressive batsmen individually but his tactics leave a lot to be desired.

Batsmen and to an extent coach for selecting extra pacer, but batsmen looked absolutely casual, barring sohail to an extent

*correction above

It's 8 out of last 10 tests

3 tests in Aus should be ignored. Pakistan doesn't have batting to avoid losing in Aus. I am not sure when was the last time Pakistan drew a test in Aus , but good batting will help to draw some test there.

NZ tour was a bad one and then dropping tests in UAE and losing couple of tests in UAE is poor.

First of all congrats to SL and consolation to Pak.

The blame should equally be distributed to fans who have been overhyping Pak players and minimizing other nations' players since CT 2017 (agreed that it is a different format). No shame on losing to a superior team even if it is at home. I would urge all Pak fans to be in reality regarding real potential about their players.

Inzi, Mickey and Sarfaraz.
Asad Shafiq should be replaced by Fawad Alam. Pak also needs to
replace Shan Masood.
