NASSER: That is a slightly harder choice. You want someone who bowls at the death so I would look towards Mitchell Starc or Bhuvneshwar Kumar. I will go Starc as he could also get wickets up front and then come back at the end with his slower balls and yorkers.

EOIN: I was initially going to go for a spinner and say Adil Rashid or Rashid Khan but the weather could negate the spin aspect a touch. I think the ball will really skid on and so I am going to say a seamer. There are about five you could pick but I will go for Mark Wood.

ATHERS: You are looking at new-ball wicket-takers, so someone like Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is back fit and has his in-swinging yorker going if the warm-up against Afghanistan is to go by. Wood is also a contender but if I went for one, I would say Shaheen.

Lol at Bhuvi bcoz bowling at death.. he can be leading wicket taker if he clicks with new ball.. btw my choice is Rabada and reason is what Nasser said..

Probably someone from the fastest bowling attack in the tournament.

So I'd say Shaheen or Haris.

Since 2021 Starc averages 55 in the powerplay and has taken all of 4 wickets in the first six overs.

The less said about Bhuvneshwar's death-bowling exploits, the better.

Nasser doesn't know what he is talking about.

Mark Wood - 3/34 today vs Ireland - Doing well

I thought Shaheen might have been up there, but he looks well short of full fitness.

I wonder if it was worth risking him in this tournament.

South Africa legend Dale Steyn has revealed his dream fast-bowling attack by nominating his five favourite quicks currently in Australia showing their wares at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Steyn was a fearsome fast bowler in his own right and the former South Africa quick produced one of the most memorable moments in T20 World Cup history when he famously defended seven runs off the final over during a group match against New Zealand at the 2014 event in Chattogram.

But with Steyn now retired and part of the impressive list of commentators at the T20 World Cup Down Under, the 39-year-old has been keeping a close eye on all the action at this year's event in Australia.

Steyn was asked to select his five favourite fast bowlers plying their trade at the T20 World Cup and it should come as no surprise to see the cricketing great included two South Africa quicks in his list.

Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje (South Africa)

"Rabada is the leader of the South African attack. I'm hoping South Africa can go on and win this World Cup and him doubling up with Anrich Nortje as my other fast bowler from South Africa, I think the two of them in combination are just fantastic," Steyn said.

"They've got great pace, they've got good skill especially in Australia, Rabada seems to up a level whenever he gets to Australia, so I'm looking for that competitive streak to come out of him, and the two of them can go on and help South Africa to win this World Cup."

Mark Wood (England)

"Mark Wood is a favourite of mine from England," Steyn noted.

"I saw him the other night and he said to me he's going to bowl well.

"I think he's the first fast bowler to bowl all 24 balls in his spell of four overs over 140 kilometres an hour.

"He didn't look to bowl one slower ball, he’s just absolutely fantastic.

"He wants to rush batters, bowls a great yorker and a fantastic bouncer, and I think if England are going to go all the way, Mark Wood’s going to take them there.”

Mitchell Starc (Australia)

"He's just a fantastic fast bowler," Steyn said of Starc.

"He is well experienced here in Australia, has won the World Cup a couple of times - a 50-over World Cup as well as a T20 World Cup with Australia.

"Heaps of experience again, another big wicket-taker, left-arm, something different, he scares the batters with sheer pace and just through exceptional experience over the years and World Cup-winning medals, he knows how to win tournaments.”

Shaheen Afridi (Pakistan)

"And my final fast-bowler is Shaheen Shah Afridi, who again is another left-arm quick bowler," Steyn said.

"We saw him in the previous T20 World Cup and he was just absolutely amazing.

"He has great skill, does look to swing it back to the right-handers and has got good skill when it comes to the slower ball, a very fast bouncer and again, another guy that Pakistan are going to rely on if they want to beat South Africa to make it through to the semi-finals.

"Shaheen Shah Afridi's going to be the guy."

Taskin has played vs two of the weaker teams so it might not be too representative. Having said that, he has been absolutely top class over the last two years. MoS in our series win in the ODIs in SA VS SA. I hope he keeps his fitness up and contributes to us winning.

Luck of the Irish: Little goes big in Adelaide with a T20 World Cup hat-trick

Pacer Josh Little has created history by becoming just the sixth player to claim a hat-trick at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup and the second from Ireland to complete the feat.

Little picked up the hat-trick when he dismissed three New Zealand batters with consecutive deliveries from the penultimate over of their clash at the Adelaide Oval on Friday, joining team-mate Curtis Camper as Ireland players to have registered the rare feat.

The left-armer picked up the big scalps of Kane Williamson, Jimmy Neesham and Mitchell Santner in the 19th over of the match against New Zealand, with consecutive LBW decisions on the final two deliveries clinching the unlikely achievement.

It means Little finishes the T20 World Cup with an impressive 11 scalps, with his figures of 3/22 against New Zealand meaning the 23-year-old finished with a total of 7/59 from 11 overs against the Kiwis, England and Australia.

Little's heroics overshadowed a return to form by Williamson as the New Zealand captain hit 61 from just 35 deliveries to help his side put on 185/6 after being sent into bat by Ireland captain Andy Balbirnie.

The Kiwi captain showed glimpses of his best during his innings, finding the middle of the bat on numerous occasions until he was undone by Little.

Campher's hat-trick at last year's event came against the Netherlands as he picked up the wickets of Colin Ackermann, Ryan ten Doeschate, Scott Edwards and Roelof van der Merwe to complete an even rarer double hat-trick.

There has now been a total of six hat-tricks at T20 World Cups over the years, with two of them coming at this year's event in Australia.

UAE spinner Karthik Meiyappan picked up the first hat-trick in Australia during his side's loss to Sri Lanka in Geelong in the First Round.

Just need more performance like this.

I hope the match goes forward as I would love for Shaheen or Shadab to end up with the most wickets. For now it is Nortje with 11 while both of them are at 10. Ignoring the first round as it gives other teams an unfair advantage

Top wicket-takers of T20 World Cup 2022

For the second edition in a row, Sri Lanka's Wanindu Hasaranga topped the wickets chart at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Wanindu Hasaranga - 15 wickets

Hasaranga finished with one wicket fewer than in 2021, but once again led the chart for bowlers with 15 wickets in the tournament, including a best of 3/8. Averaging 13.26 in the tournament, Hasaranga was a big presence for Sri Lanka throughout their T20 World Cup campaign.

Bas de Leede - 13 wickets

De Leede excelled in the backend of the innings with his medium pace, and finished with 13 wickets at an average of 13.0 in the tournament. His economy rate of 7.68 also showed that he played a good supporting role to the impressive Netherlands pace attack.

Sam Curran - 13 wickets

The Player of the Tournament, Sam Curran finished with 13 wickets, five of them coming in a single game where he registered the first five-wicket haul by an England player in men's T20Is. Curran picked up 3/12 in the final at the MCG, sending back Mohammad Rizwan, Shan Masood and Mohammad Nawaz in a brilliant spell.

Blessing Muzarabani - 12 wickets

Returning from injury, Blessing Muzarabani was a standout bowler for Zimbabwe, finishing with 12 wickets in the tournament at an average of 16.58. His best came against Ireland when he picked up 3/23 in a spell that led Zimbabwe to a 31-run win.

Anrich Nortje - 11 wickets

The pick of South Africa's excellent pace attack, Nortje finished with 11 wickets in the tournament, testing batters with his pace and bounce on the hard Aussie wickets. His 4/10 against Bangladesh and 1/10 against Netherlands were among two of the most economical four-over spells in this edition of the T20 World Cup. He took another four-wicket haul, against Pakistan, in the tournament, as his pace caused trouble.

Shaheen Afridi - 11 wickets

Shaheen Afridi showed signs of returning to his best in the warm-up match against Afghanistan, but went wicketless against India and Zimbabwe. He turned his performances around from there with spells of 3/14 (v South Africa), 4/22 (v Bangladesh), 2/24 (v New Zealand in the semi-finals) and 1/13 in the final. Shaheen's injury in the 16th over of the final arguably turned the contest England's way.

Shadab Khan - 11 wickets

While Shadab's superlative knock against South Africa was probably one of the best individual performances in the tournament, he was also exceptional with the ball, recording an economy rate of 6.34 with the ball while snaring 11 wickets. Pakistan's lead spinner was in his element in the tournament and stood out with his much-improved control.

Josh Little - 11 wickets

A hat-trick was the cherry on the cake for an excellent T20 World Cup for Ireland's left-arm quick. Little picked up the wickets of Kane Williamson, Jimmy Neesham and Mitchell Santner to record a hat-trick in the Super 12 game against New Zealand. Overall, he leaked runs at an economy rate of just seven runs per over while finishing the tournament with 11 wickets.

Paul van Meekeren - 11 wickets

Exceptional with his control and movement, van Meekeren was one of Netherlands' several impressive quicks at the T20 World Cup this year. He picked up two wickets apiece against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, but his best came in Adelaide where his 3/29 helped Netherlands bowl Zimbabwe out for 117.

Arshdeep Singh - 10 wickets

Impressive with the new ball and in the death overs, Arshdeep Singh was a strong presence in India's bowling attack. His outstanding spells against South Africa and Pakistan gave India rousing starts with the ball. He went wicketless in just the one match (v England in the semi-final) and showed immense signs of becoming India's go-to bowler in this format in the next few years.

Sikandar Raza - 10 wickets

With a bag of newly learned tricks up his sleeve, Sikandar Raza added to his batting value with a stellar showing with the ball. His best came against Pakistan when he changed the contest around by sending back Shadab Khan and Haider Ali off successive balls. Overall, Raza took 10 wickets at an average of 15.6, conceding runs at just 6.5 runs per over.
