This. It became a farce when they decided boxing rules. Mayweather gets his 50th, Connor gets rich and then either promotes boxers or begins promotion in UFC fights. Connor already has his excuses lined up and I wouldn't be surprised if there are calls for a rematch with MMA rules.

I hope Conor wins just for the lols. Imagine the resulting meltdown all over social media, etc. :snack:

No way is Mayweather getting in the octagon.

Connor hasnt wrestled since he battered Aldo

The boxing ring is the best place for an amateur boxer
Its where Conher started his boxing career

As for the winner
Forget the speculation about boxing needing a new king after Mayweather
Gervonta Davis is that man

Mcregor to get disqualified for biting Mayweathers ears after six rounds is my prediction

Floyd will school him.

BUT man what a sight it would be to see him lose to a UFC fighter. :))

Couldn't agree more. But as a match-up, you can compare Conor to a circus monkey and Floyd will easily handle him. In the ring, there's only 1 winner.

We all know whose the favorite and should win 10 out of 10 times but it didn't stop me voting for the other guy :)

Floyd easily. Even Tyson thinks so similarly too.

Pretty much what shaz619ybear has said both winners already really :sa

Having said that tho it's all on Mayweather. Not many give McGregor a chance so really he has nothing to lose. Obviously the boxing ring is Mayweather's domain but all that pressure and expectations certainly works in McGregor's favour. Add that Floyd is 40+ and has been in retirement mode for a couple of years and I for one don't think it's as one-sided as it's made out to be.

If floyd wins no one cares but if Connors wins it would be a huge upset.. I want Connor to win like the guy he is funny

Floyd Mayweather thinks Conor McGregor will fight 'extremely dirty'.

Floyd Mayweather labelled Conor McGregor a "dirty" fighter on Thursday, and admitted he fears the Irish mixed martial arts star will use roughhouse tactics during their boxing match on August 26 (local time).
Mayweather admitted he had seen clips of McGregor in training and insisted that many of his moves and tactics stretched the bounds of boxing's strict regulations.

"I see a lot of rabbit punches behind the head, grappling, wrestling, illegal shots," Mayweather said on a media conference call. "But the ref will be fair on both sides, I want him to be even. I want us to have a good solid fight."

McGregor has stipulations in his contract that would impose a severe financial penalty if he was to employ the kind of moves he typically uses in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, such as kicks and elbows.

However, "dirty" boxing moves do not fall under that category, and would need to be controlled by referee Robert Byrd in the ring. It should also be noted that Mayweather has been accused of using elbows himself, especially by former opponent Victor Ortiz.
McGregor hired retired official Joe Cortez to look over his sparring sessions in training, in order to ensure he remains within the rules.

"I truly believe [Byrd[ is going to do his job, his job is to keep the bout clean," Mayweather added. "We are going to have a hell of a fight. Like I have said, I am coming straight ahead.

"I look forward to following the Queensberry rules of boxing. [McGregor] had Joe Cortez in his training camp but I still see him being extremely dirty. But my job is not to referee the fight, I am going to do my job. I am not worried about the outcome, I am more worried about excitement."

Despite teasing in various television interviews that he may be prepared to fight McGregor a second time, perhaps even in a mixed martial arts octagon, Mayweather was adamant on Thursday that this bout will be his last. His most recent contest was against Andre Berto in 2015, which ended in a unanimous points victory.

"I thought Berto was going to be last weigh-in, last training camp, my last everything," Mayweather added. "But you just never know what can happen and we are here with this big event. This is my last one, ladies and gentlemen. I gave my word to [advisor] Al Haymon, my children, and I don't want to break that. I want to stick to my word. This will be my last fight."

Floyd will win easily but I do see McGregor catching Mayweather in around the 2nd or 3rd round.

I think it'll be a copy of the Mosley Mayweather fight. Floyd has a chance of getting a TKO as well.

Mcgregor has no chance, all those who voted for mcgregor in the poll will get a reality check this satuday.

Conor McGregor-Floyd Mayweather fight set to break viewing records

Conor McGregor’s improbable challenge of Floyd Mayweather Jr could be seen by a staggering 50 million people in the United States as fans and the curious gather in small and large parties.

The fight on Saturday night threatens the pay-per-view revenue record set by Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao two years ago and could dwarf it in viewership as people use the event as a reason to have friends and family over for a little escapism and controlled violence.

“It’s a cultural event that crosses all demographics and all social and economic factors,” said Mark Taffet, who formerly ran pay-per-view for HBO. “People are getting together to have a great time and we surely need an excuse to have a great time.”

Taffet said that while an average of five or sixpeople normally watched a pay-per-view, he wouldn’t be surprised if the fight averaged 10 people a household. If it sold 5m pay-per-views as widely anticipated, the fight could be watched by nearly one in six Americans.

The fight will also be seen by millions more worldwide, with promoters claiming it will be available either online or on a TV screen to more than 1bn homes in 200 different countries.

“If you are in Manhattan or you are on a desert island somewhere, if you have Wi-Fi, you can buy this fight,” promoter Dana White said.

Each pay-per-view sale means more money in the wallets of both fighters. Though estimates vary widely, Mayweather is expected to make some $200m (£156m), while McGregor will likely pocket at least $100m.

Though ticket sales have been slow in Las Vegas — largely because of astronomical prices — the fight is shaping up as must-see TV at a price of $99.95. People are expected to buy the fight in record numbers, with many sharing the cost of the telecast with friends and family they invite over.

Taffet said people will treat it much like a Super Bowl by getting together in larger numbers than usual.
“I think this is first and foremost a television event,” said Taffet, who oversaw 190 pay-per-views in his career at HBO. “The success of this fight in the financial record books of history will be made on pay-per-view. And I believe it’s going to deliver.”

Industry observers say it’s hard to judge how many homes will buy a pay-per-view until the day of the fight many times, as people often buy late. But the anecdotal evidence — primarily the chatter on social media — indicates a good likelihood of it smashing the 4.6m record of pay-per-view sales set by the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.

That’s largely because the matchup will likely cross over from being just a sporting event to a party night.

“We have definitely seen massive general market interest in addition to the sports fan,” said Stephen Espinoza, who heads sports for Showtime, which will televise the fight. “These general market viewers are often not part of the audience for even the biggest combat sports event. So the ceiling is pretty high.”

Espinoza said the very nature of the fight — a matchup between a UFC star who has never boxed as a pro against one of the greatest fighters of his time — will drive the pay-per-view sales.

“We believe this is an unprecedented event, quite frankly no one knows what to expect,” he said. “The element of these two outspoken personalities in one unprecedented event is compelling.”

An early indication of interest in the fight is the massive betting both in Nevada and in other places where it is legal. Bookmakers say it will be the biggest bet fight ever, with an overwhelming number of the early tickets on McGregor to pull an upset.

Still, there are plenty of tickets left in the arena itself, where prices originally ranged from $2,500 in the upper sections to $10,000 at ringside. Ticket prices have been dropping in the resale market — with some available for less than $1,300 on Tuesday — and are expected to decline more in the days before the fight.

Huge money all around, watching the training videos of both floyd is way too ahead of Conor can literally make him look like a fool when he wants.. Still I'm hoping for a huge upset probably the biggest of all time even bigger than Leicester winning the PL..

cant say I know much but logically speaking I don't see how a guy who was never a professional boxer will beat a guy who is a master of his craft

They all sound like a list of names you'd find on Kell Brooks resume :)) :broad

1. Never rated Kell Brooks and eventually was proven right about him.
2. As I explained in my earlier post I only voted for McGregor as he's the overwhelming underdog. As I don't have a strong affiliation for either fighter (can't even say boxers :)) I just voted as a joke.

I'm just not buying in to this fight. I think it will be orchestrated. Probably go in to the mid/later stages so that McGregor doesn't look like a complete novice and the paying views don't feel defrauded. Then its over to Fight number two sometime next year so that another half a billion can be milked.

I think this fight will be as competitive as a fight between Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks.

I don't know why people would have an issue with the fight not going to the mid/later stages, I thoroughly enjoy the spectacle of a glorious knock out and I'd like to think all fan groups would as well; a one sided 12 round decision is not entertaining especially for the casuals. As a boxing fan I'd like to see Floyd take him out asap after getting his eye in between the first 2-3 rounds

I won't be paying for this though and I suggest people save their money for Canelo v Triple G instead

Thing is if you're gonna spend your hard earned cash on a fight then the undercard has to be good one. I don't even know what the undercard is for this one...

Seeing a spectacular first round (or third round knockout) is brilliant.
But this isn't is a usual fight between two boxers... you have as many detractors on this as you have supporters so a quick Mayweather victory won't really count for anything... if ever there was a fight that is set up to go into the mid/later rounds then it's this one.

Both fighters will milk it as much as they can, especially Floyd 'MONEY' Mayweather.

Gervonta Davis was expected to face Roman Martinez but negotiations may have fallen out, it would have been a great fight; then they got some random bum to replace Martinez, and only yesterday Gervonta failed to make weight and being forced to relinquish his world title on the scales  So nothing to look forward to there, only decent fight on the undercad is Nathan Cleverly vs Badou Jack so yeah the undercard is pretty bad.

From my perspective being a big fan of the sport, a win over Conor doesn't really count for anything regardless on paper ! however, what I'd like to see is Conor get absolutely humiliated and ideally get taken out within the first 6 rounds. But in the grand scheme, there's a lot on the line and there is massive pressure on Floyd because if Conor is even remotely competitive then the sport of Boxing looks bad. MMA pundits and fans in general have berated Boxing and seriously given their charge a legit shot of overwhelming Floyd, so while in Boxing terms a win over Conor does not do anything for Floyd's legacy it would still be a great feeling humiliating the MMA world who deem their sport so superior that a guy with a 0-0 record can beat one of the greatest boxers of all time.

Am sure the MMA fans would hope for a competitive encounter though and while the Boxing critics have belittled the fight itself and it's lack of competitiveness when there are better opponents available for Floyd am sure they'd be hoping for an early Floyd KO victory despite their opinion on the fight.

Lol Floyd obviously. Mayweather will box from the outside and tie him up if he comes in. McGregor doesn't have the skill to beat this guy and will be a complete technical mismatch i think.

Money is favorite. He is skilled and unchallenged. Even the Pac man could not stop him. He runs fast too.

Anyway am a big MMA fan as well, Boxing will live on no matter what. After all , the fake wrestling dude came to the UFC and schooled the HW division for giggles :yk Not to mention Holly Holms also conquered Boxing before becoming an MMA world champion

It's a spectacle at the end of the day, like Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant :yk

I hope Conor wins. He would beat Floyd any day in a real fight so hopefully he wins in the boxing match too.

The Money Team!! Mayweather will kill McGregor in the ring and achieve a winning streak of 50-0 undefeated.

Mcgregor fangirls are going to get a reality check today, get ready for the excuses from mcgregor fans like " If this was a real fight mcgregor wouldve killed mayweather" or " mayweather is coward dodger, he won't last 10 seconds in the octagon" or " Boxing is boring" lol :misbah:maqsood:rp

Lol. I doubt it would even as good as Joshua-Klitschko and that was a "great" match. How much of a chance do you give Connor?

Not much of a chance to be honest but it would be ignorant to completely write him off
