Saka for me! [Arsenal bias alert]

oh... awkward
Whilst at Napoli in 1st two season he had 2 major injuries a dislocated shoulder in his 1st season.

A fractured skull in his 2nd season. These are freak injuries. How often do you see players get these type of injuries?

Last season he played 32 out of 38 league games

This season he's played 24 out of 32 (was away at Afcons with nigeria)

So comparing number of games is fine. But did GA take into account how many games Oshimen is away with on Afcons every few seasons?

Oshimen also has proved himself season after season with his goal Tallys. Something isak hasn't done yet.

Yes oshimen is an elite goal scorer, won his team a title. Proven in CL and international level

Can same be said for isak? He's goal output at sociedad barring one season was **** poor.

Isak goal output in PL, is it ant better than toney or Watkins?

Isak is a good striker. But GA banging on that he is elite is far fetched right now

Osimhen has had 1 season scoring 20+ goals, the same as Isak, let's not make out that Osimhen has been scoring 25+ goals season after season

Also, Napoli paid more for Osimhen after he scored 13 goals in Ligue 1 than we did for Isak

As goalscorers they are probably on a par, in terms of the rest of their game they each have strengths the other doesn't

I wouldn't swap Isak for Osimhen

I just find the idea laughable you would be happy to pay £100m for Osimhen but reluctant to spend it on Isak

Anyway, Isak isn't for sale and most definitely not for less than £100m

Isak is key player for Newcastle and someone they can build their team around for years to come.

He is 24 and entering his prime years. If Arsenal want to buy him, we are talking £100m minimum. That is the lowest price that Newcastle would entertain and then it is all about who blinks first and how far Arsenal are willing to go and how much Isak wants the move (if at all).

Newcastle might look to cash in on Bruno G this summer but Isak is absolutely not for sale unless they get a very tasty offer.

£100m is the new £50m. Arsenal bought a DM for £100m last summer and that would have unthinkable only 5 years ago.

I personally don’t think Arsenal need to sign Isak or any ST worth that money. Havertz at CF has solved Arsenal’s issues at least for the coming season.

I would much rather spend big on a winger now to upgrade on Martinelli. Martinelli has reached his ceiling and he is clearly not good enough to be a starter for Arsenal and he is not getting ahead of Trossard again who is a vastly superior footballer.

🤣🤣 delusion at its finest.

Let's deal with reality. Isak Had 3 seasons at sociedad and couldn't even get into double figure in the league in 2 of those seasons.

9 goals in 37 and 6 goals in 32 games is poor to day the least. Essentially a one season wonder in Spain based off his best season getting 17 goals in one season.

Then you go about oshimen only scoring 25 goals+ in a season once. Oshimen has got into double figures every single season for last 6 seasons. That's consistency for you. Not a one season wonder.

His goals win napoli a league title thats what elite players do. His goals for Nigeria got them to an Afcons final.

That's why he's worth over 100M, a player that wins titles and is a difference maker. So what exactly is laughable about it.

Then you have isak had 1 good season at Newcastle and he's elite, have a day off.

90 goals in 159 leagues games in last 6 seasons for oshimen

Isak 63 goals in 154 league games in Last 6 seasons

It's not even a contest.

Don't get me wrong in a few seasons isak will be a very good player, buts proved nothing yet. He's a 75-80M player right now. Needs to consistently play more games and improve his scoring record. If he stayed at Newcastle and had another season where he got 20+ league goals and played 30+ PL games I'd say yeah fair enough I can see why 100M would be asked.

Both Toney and Watkins have scored goals season after season in a more consistent manner than isak, I don't think either of those are 100M players either.

Brighton asking 100M for ferguson based on two seasons where he's got 6 goals in each.

For me you pay 100M+ in PL for a striker he's got to be elite or a game changer.

No striker outside haaland or salah in PL is of that level

I disagree with it as Isak, Saka and Haaland were much better than it

Why Arsenal's Ødegaard deserves PFA Premier League POTY award

The debate over who will be crowned this Premier League season's PFA Player of the Year has been fascinating.

Unlike in recent years, where either one obvious candidate emerges (Erling Haaland) or two titans go head-to-head (Kevin De Bruyne vs. Mohamed Salah), the 2023-24 campaign has produced at least six legitimate contenders for the award, which is voted for by the players.

The Football Writers' equivalent award (FWA) was bestowed upon Manchester City forward Phil Foden earlier this month, with Arsenal's Declan Rice finishing second and City's Rodri completing the top three. But one player surprisingly not in contention was Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard.

With Foden, Rice and Rodri ranked ahead of him in the FWA vote, the Norway international is eighth in the betting odds for the PFA POTY award behind Foden, Rodri, Rice, Chelsea's Cole Palmer, Haaland, Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins and Saka. That's not just odd; it's downright shocking.

When you consider everything Ødegaard does on the pitch, for a team that have spent a third of the season top of the table and may yet win the league, it's incredible that he's not a front-runner given how integral he is to every aspect of Arsenal's play.

Palmer should be young player of year.

He's been Brilliant all season.

Foden was relatively quiet in 1st 1/4 of season and has then been brilliant since.

Foden is probably good vote for main player of year

In the meantime, Foden's won the best player of the season

I said in top 5 prediction thread, when people were going on about gudogan and mahrez leaving that Foden would get more game time and he would make up for the goals lost by these 2 quality players.

Well deserved award, after a slow start he helped carry City whilst KDB was out for parts of season.

Manchester City's Erling Haaland is in contention to win the PFA player of the year award for a second successive year, while Chelsea's Lauren James could win a historic double

Haaland has been named on the six-player shortlist for the men's category after scoring 27 goals last season to finish as the Premier League's top scorer.

James' selection in the women's category means she could become the first woman to win both the PFA young player of the year and PFA player of the year awards in the same year.

The 22-year-old was on Monday named on the young player of the year shortlist.

Haaland is joined on the men's shortlist by team-mates Phil Foden and Rodri, while Chelsea striker Cole Palmer, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard and Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins are also included.

On the women's shortlist, James' Chelsea team-mates Niamh Charles and Erin Cuthbert feature, along with Manchester City trio Yui Hasegawa, Lauren Hemp and Khadija Shaw.

The award winners will be announced on Tuesday, 20 August.
