Who would you rather have in an all time T20I XI, Shahid Afridi or Shoaib Malik?

Both are genuine all rounders, with reasonably good stats. Afridi has 98 wickets and Malik has an average of 31.66. Which one would you go for. Personally for me, it would be Lala.:afridi

One can't put bat on ball against half decent pace bowling. Accumulator at his best.

Other has thrashed pacers and spinners alike for fun at his peak.

TBH even though Afridi wasn't great, it's a blasphemy to compare him to Malik.

Afridi all the way.

What are you looking for, a batsmen or a bowling allrounder?
You need to provide more information for this hypothetical scenario

Malik is an excellent T20 batsmen, but a commodity. There are lots of excellent T20 batsmen

Afridi at his prime is a huge threat at #7, and a world class spinner. But depending on how your team is constructed you may need a specialist (batsmen or bowler)

Malik and Afridi can walk into a room, its a no brainer who will get flogged and get all the limelight

Not T20 but remember 99 wc final when afridi came out to bat Gilchrist of all people said don't worry he will hit a few and get out!

In this format:

Peak Afridi >>> Peak Shoaib Malik
Young Afridi >>> Young Shoaib Malik

Old Shoaib Malik > Old Shahid Afridi

Quite simple really - has to be lala. I think had T20Is been a thing 10 years prior to the 2007 WT20, Afridi at his prime with sharp reflexes would have had a stellar T20I batting record. Even past his prime you could pick lala on the basis of his bowling ability. Also Shoaib Malik has always had a very limited range of shots against 140+ bowling particularly on faster pitches. The dab to third man is not suffice.

Malik will not make the X1 of many international teams. Afridi does. There's your answer

HAHAHA.

I really hate it - that's his only shot against the fast bowlers lol.

Many more of them to come in next year's world cup and another rehearsal in the following year when it's time for Australia to host the WT20.

No worries.

Malik has always done well in England and Australia.

...oh wait. :malik

Afirdi.

Malik is probably the most over rated player ever. In the history of the game.

If he played for any other nation he would of been thrown away a decade ago.

Just here to state, that t20 while entertaining is a rubbish format and discussing all time elevens for it are an insult to the sport.

Shahid Afridi as an overall player is better so I would rather have him. I doubt Malik even makes most peoples All time T20I XIs.

Afridi is arguably the greatest T20 talent ever.

No way. Surely people like Gayle and Malinga are much, much higher in the pecking order.

Heck, I would even pick Rashid Khan over Afridi in my XI.

Afridi has been Pakistan's best T20 player but globally there are many who overshadow him.

No.

Afridi is an LOI icon. Known globally.

Yes, Gayle is also famous so you can compare the two to some extent.

I'm not saying Afridi is not popular. And he's a damn good LOI player and is one of the better T20 players of all time. He's certainly up there.

But Gayle, McCullum, Malinga, Bravo, ABD and Rashid Khan have all overshadowed him in terms of performance.

I wouldn't say that. I'm a big fan of Baz and ABD, but they've got nothing to show for their efforts T20Is. Afridi won Pakistan a World Cup.

Yeah has to be Afridi. Malik’s game is more of a supporting role. He chips in nicely and on a more regular and consistent basis. Afridi was the show stopper and the heart break kid.

Afridi any day of the week.

If he fail with bat, then you can have him bowl his world class legspin.

If both fail he was one of the better fielders.

At least he is good looking and brings lots of crowd.
