Whose retirement hurt you the most?

Makhaya Ntini

Because the best way to attract black South Africans into cricket is to have a black star in the Proteas side

Looks like Philander is carrying the tradition on nicely then!

Philander is coloured, as is Petersen (both of them) and Duminy. Tsotsobe is black and was meant to be the next Ntini, but I don't see him replacing Philander any time soon.

Cant say whose retirement hurt me the most but I will be devastated the day when Sachin retires . He has been like a part of lives of people in India for so long that its totally unimaginable to think that a day would come when he ll no longer play . Wont get to see him bat , wont get to hear about him in the news . Cricket will be Cricket but the extra excitement which is there to follow him , the curiosity to watch him , the belief that oh yeah he is in there , the tension while waiting for him to arrive at the crease will all be missing .

Apart from that Afridi is another player that will be missed badly , yeah ok hes crazy , brainfart expert but he has been playing for 16 years and has carried the x factor for so long . Afridi I think is among the longest career span for current players after Sachin. There are likes of hafez , azhar ali , yk , shafiq , misba and other bowlers who even if combined cant put up half of aura and excitement that Afridi provides . Ever Since he hit a 36 balls hundred which is yet to be bettered , cricket fans developed curiosity to follow the guy who achieved the impossible and ever since that time till today fans still expect him to bat at same pace .
When Afridi arrives to bat or has ball in his hand , you just cant afford to skip between channels. He can either get out quickly or change the momentum of match in short time, easily the topmost Cricketer that kept viewers ( especially opposition or neutral ) attentive whenever the focus is on him .

Although I always feel sad when an international cricketer retires while playing a match.
But Inzi's retirement, for me, was a very emotional moment, he left with tears and I never expected that from the man Inzi.
And recently, Boucher's premature departure was a heart-wrenching incident for me, later he revealed that he was intending to retire after the series but the fate held something else for him... I felt bad for him.

Afridi's retirement from test. :P

After the WorldCup Wasim akram was dropped by Gen tauqeer Zia and his Slectors. That hurted me very much. When Wasim akram announced his retirement from Odi cricket too, that hurted me the most.
This general and Ijaz butt destroyed the Pakistan's cricket.

Lara's retirement from International cricket was quite unexpected. Right before the start of the 2007 WC, he announced that he'd retire from ODI cricket after that tourney and continue in Tests. He also expressed his desire to continue in Tests till he was 40. Suddenly before their match against England in that WC he announced that he'd be bidding farewell to International cricket after that match. I'm pretty convinced he had some disagreements with the West Indies cricket board, I mean why would he change his decision all of a sudden.

Absolutely Misbah's retirement! Has left me devastated. Felt distraught about Akhtar retiring but this is another feeling. Have no words. Couldn't care less about Younis tho. Actually glad.

Inzi getting stumped in his final test innings actually bummed me out more than seeing Misbah walk off today, I really wanted him to get that record :(

Still Inzamam's Last Odi & Test followed by Younis's last Test innings, followed by Shoaib's sad press conference followed by Misbah's last innings.

Ul Haq's got out in similar fashions while trying to hit big.

Thank you Misbah & Younis. National heroes. Pride of Pakistan. May Allah bless them and their loved ones in there next journey.

Younis Khan definitely as he belonged to the area where I've lived my childhood, the pride of Steel town, Gulshan-e-hadeed...

Your personal choice with which i have no objection. But very Sad indeed.

Yeah. It's not like I disliked the guy or hated him like some on the forum but I'm just not sad. And like I saif, I'm actually glad he's going because he's already dropped his average of around 55 to 52 which is disappointing to say the least.

Inzamam ul Haq.

Circumstances and the fact that he held our batting together. The game was never over till Inzamam was at the crease! After that Pak faced many collapses and defeats as a result on good wickets.

May sound weird but Shoaib Akhtar even though the first game I watched of his was against SL in the 2011 WC, his press conference speech about his retirement was too deep to watch, felt as if I was watching him play since he debuted.

Inzi's hurt A LOT.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but even though I've crticized Misbah on various occasions and have been fed up with his presence in the Test side now, seeing him get out one final time actually send chills down my spine. Just not prepared for life after Misbah I guess, even though him leaving is obviously good for us now and it's something I've been looking forward to for a while now.

Same with Younis as well, but Misbah's personality just made him walking off the field a more emotional moment for me.
