I have always wondered why all first class domestic cricket is 4 days and not 5.

Surely the aim of domestic cricket is to prepare players to play the longer format of the game.

If this is true why play 4 day cricket domestically then 5 day cricket internationally?

So it would make sense having first class cricket for 5 days.

I see the following benefits if this change was made;

1) reduction in amount of games that are drawn due too extra time available.

2) batsmen have the time available to make massive scores.

3) batsman can practise batting on 5th day pitch.

4) Bowlers can practise bowling on a 5th day pitch.

5) also mentally it will make your players stronger Having to play for 5 days.

They are a lot more benefits but have listed the main ones.

Also if someone can tell me why we have first class cricket only 4 days it would be great!

Must be a cost saving excercise. But Imo domestic games have to be 5 days long atleast
