Just look at the scorecard for today's game, him and Malik scoring with 100+ strike rate while the new guys bar Shehzad failed to even cross 10 runs

Hafeez as a middle order batsman will help Pakistan in the up coming years. He brings experience which I feel is the most important thing right now needed in our middle order. We saw how inexperience middle order performed when Azhar Ali was leading the side. Like it or not, you have to accept as there's no one else besides Malik who can control the innings

"Just look at the scorecard for today's game" you need to look at the scorecard of many games..

Because Malik can do what Hafeez does, and can bat even better than Hafeez while Hafeez is also taking up a spot that should be Haris's. Also because he was clearly chucking and everybody is 95 percent sure he's gonna get banned and if he can't bowl he is definitely a liability in the team.

im not the type of person whos happy to see a guy go, my for me hafeez his age is a concern, i would rather have haris sohail in as hes young,

beacuse u just see scorecards but the ones who say he should go see something else.he is liability against the decent oppostion but he is just a cunning guy and find ways to stay in the team.

Haris is young? Lol

Anyway, Hafeez & Malik both have no business playing useless T20 matches. Their places should go to youngsters. But nooooooo seniors first you see.

Hafeez has a fantastic reputation of showing up against the big dogs but fails against minnows. We prefer minnow bashers.

It's not just the fact his bowling is worse/likely going to get banned. He's out of form with the bat. In fact he might even be past it. You can see that how he starts in the innings. Yeah he has the experience to produce good innings if he has a bit of luck and stays in, but that's not good enough.

In ODIs he's easily replaced by Haris really atm. In T20s, might as well just try out younger batsmen even if some of them may not be good.

He has been an asset for us, even bat alone, just look at his stats with just the bat in the last few/five years. More than good enough to get in the team. But when you're now worst/2nd worst bat in the top 7 when previously you were 2nd/3rd best, your position is going to be in question. Sarfraz could probably do the exact same job with the bat (or better) in terms of batting with experience, and Malik's already fulfilling that role.

As long as his bowling isn't banned, he's not going to ever really be completely useless. But time to move on.

There's quite a bit of younger talent in the LOI format I believe as evidenced by Babar, Fakhar, Imam etc. Not much knocking around in the test arena, but in LOI I believe there is.

Haris Sohail is not comparable to Hafeez at all. He is an accumulator. He cannot play in the same line-up as Babar and Malik. Hafeez's own ego has been his biggest downfall. Even right now, he is one of the cleanest striker of the cricket ball in Pakistan cricket. He needs to go down the order, accomodate Malik and Sarfraz before him and reinvent himself as a lower-order hitter. He smoked India in that final. And has shown glimpses of that hitting ability in patches throughout his career.

Needs to play till 2019WC along with Malik. Haris is not and will never be Hafeez's replacement.

Hafeez isn't as good a batsman as Malik. There is only one spot for a 30+ in the team. That should go to Malik. Also, Professor's bowling is good, but there are question marks over his action always. Would rather replace him with a youngster.

I Understand, the Professor can be very frustrating, I mean yesterday you make a post about him and today he performs.

I hope we have a tough NZ tour so the competent can be distinguished from the incompetent.

Hafeez inspires no positive hope. He is a step back than forward.

Dude the target was around 100 with more than half of it already scored. I have yet to see hafeez taking some responsibility when the ship is half under water. Like in that 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka where Babar stood up.

If the ship is half sinking you can be assured it won't be hafeez who will guide the ship to safe harbor, he would be the first one to go down with the ship.

His real age is more like 39! He's blocking up a space when really we should be grooming a youngster in the middle order for WC 2019. This senior culture really is out of hand in Pakistan.

Because he’s keeping a potential pakistani ATG on the bench (Haris Sohail)

I'm actually more interested now in knowing the basis of ya'll backing Haris. Did he prove himself in domestic this year like how any player should after coming back from an injure

He was our best batsman in the test series after Azhar Ali. The way he batted was amazing for someone on debut.

Also his stats in ODI pre injury are great. Avg 43 at a SR of 82. He also had a decent Pakistan cup so he has proved himself.

Babar and Haris will form a solid combination.

that's not how a player gets selected. Haris was superb in the Test series, he earned that selection even though I was against his inclusion. The reason why I was against his selection is since recovering from injury he didn't show anything in the domestic to get a call up. When Junaid Khan came back from injury he wasn't added to the squad straight away, in fact he was told to prove his worth and then he got a call up after doing so. Haris was automatically added after recovering which seemed unfair
But he did well in the Test series and now has earned his spot. But for limited overs, he needs to earn his spot in the squad. He also failed the fitness test during the OD series so there's another negative point for his inclusion

Well he was one of the top scorers in the Pakistan cup, and he is a proven performer which is why he’s been selected earlier than the likes of Umar Amin and Sahibzada Farhan.

So he has been brought back on merit. Otherwise he’d have been back for the West Indies tour.

It's a good thing you are not a selector.

Haris was only out of the team because of injury. His talent has never been in doubt and he is/was already a proven performer at the international level.

For your information, he was playing Grade II FC cricket as well as being one of the top run scorers in the Pakistan Cup.

Hafeez can be good for Tests/ODIs... for this unimportant circus T20 matches we can test a youngster in his spot.

Because he is hopeless versus quality bowling and he is chucking now as well. Also her 36 years of age , he is holding a spot which could be taken by a younger player. He tries to create the perception that he is a gentelman but his antics show otherwise.

He is old, minnow basher and likely to be banned for chucking.

I think you described Hafeez perfectly in just one line. Great.

Hafeez is no longer useful. Next ODI world cup is in England and we know his struggles on good bowling pitches. Time for Harris or Amin.

He looked perfect in tests to me. He looked our best batsman. Even SL commentators were saying Harris looks a class.

And Yes. He has played domestic cricket after injury and he has looked really good.

You have to look at a batsman first than his stats. For example, take Tendulkar, his start wasn't bright - struggled in first Test series, struggled in initial ODIs as well, but anyone with basic cricket knowledge could have a 15 minutes look and instantly tell that something very special is cooking. I watched Atapatu's debut series - something like 0, 0, 0, 0, 1, 0 - but, he looked like a fantastic prospect and I did back his to make a return in what was then a very good SRL batting lineup.

I saw one match (Dulip trophy Final) and instantly wrote here at PP that KL Rahul will make the AUS tour - one reason being I trust Indian selectors 100% when it comes to batsman, but main reason is his few boundaries hit either side of point on either feet - 20+ Test century player, if he is fit. Now, I might be wrong, but Fawad Alam doesn't look like a batsman to me, though his stats are fantastic.

This can go wrong for me, one glaring example is Amin so far, another one heading towards that direction is Ahmed (& Umar as well, but that one probably explainable), but I tend to judge batsmen my way and hardly missed by much - if he remains fit, Haris should reach 12-13K International runs for PAK in 3 formats - that's after being robbed 5-7K runs since 31st March 2011.

However, I must confess - almost every miss of mine are PAK young batsman - from Salim Elahi to Md. Wasim to Nazir to Taufique Umar to Faisal Iqbal to the 3 I mentioned earlier; so something must be horribly wrong in PAK, more than my judgement - that indeed goes against Hari.

I want to get rid of Hafeez but if the replacement is Sahibzada Farhan than God forbid. At least Hafeez can ball and score in flat tracks but Farhan the less I say its better. He can't even play even Hong Kong bowlers

If he can't bowl then Hafeez to me can't play as a batsman alone as I think we have better batsman in the wings.

for tapping Hafeez, pak lost jamshed, Maqsood, UA just by blocking their places where they can be tried or given a consistent batting position.

Now Haris will be added to the list, and once Haris goes out of form and Hafeez retired. Haris will be history..
