Why are Pakistani batsmen not aggressive?

There was a time when you would look forward to the Pakistan batting.

Test match or ODI, there were many batsmen who had the capacity to go absolute beserk. The likes of Saeed Anwar, Ijaz Ahmed, Inzi, MoYo, Basit Ali, Moin Khan, Razzaq, Azhar Mahmood, Afridi, Wasim Akram. As you can see the list is very long.

What surprises me the most is that we play so much T20 and yet we dont have these type of batsmen anymore. What could be the reason for this?

Please dont confuse this question with lack of world class batsmen. I am just wondering how come we dont have those hard hitting batsmen anymore who can change gear at will?

Are they just playing for their places?

PS: please dont mention Asif Ali. I am talking about reliable hard hitting batsmen who could also be relied upon if the team was 50/4.

In before people start blaming Misbah for the other players' inability to play cricket.

I think it is because of the domestic pitches...

Games being played on green tops or spinning tracks doesn’t help either.

It has regressed our batting and bowling department.

Awais Zia, Umar Akmal, Khushdil Shah, Iftikhar Ahmed, Abid Ali.

It’s not that we don’t have aggressive batsmen, it’s just we don’t see them anymore because they’re rotting in domestic. They aren’t good enough mentally and don’t have the fitness to play long innings. If they had proper coaching on how to respond in different game situations these players would be world class, however unfortunately this isn’t the case plus they are very unfit.

That is probably it.

Thanks to PCB for destroying our cricket.

Because they play with fear - fear of losing their place in the side which in turn creates selfish and insecure batsmen.

Pakistan’s selection policy is so crazy that players think they are one or two failures away from being dumped and possibly for good.

You need to back players and let them express themselves fully. Select a youngster and tell them that they’ll be guaranteed a 5th odi even if they fail in the first 4 - that type of thing.

Of course that’s only one reason but I think it’s an important one.

Will take time to recover from Misbah syndrome, Players like Khushdil are emerging.

Misbah Ul Haq, Shahid Afridi, Waqar Younis, Mickey Arthur, Unfit Players with No Strength, Poor Player Development, Poor Talent Identification, and no distinct philosophy for our batsman and bowlers to follow.

They are fearful of losing their wicket due to inferior techniques. They play carefully most of the time scoring at a snail's pace compared to other sides. Most Pak batsmen are also poor runners between the wickets and unable to rotate strike. There is always a lack of momentum and urgency when we bat.

Sharjeel and mukhtar both played without fear. These are the two openers we need at the top to humiliate the opposition.
