Why didn't du Plessis's ball tampering against Pak get as much attention as the one against Aus?

Also why is it that almost every media outlet and Saffers are totally ignoring that incident and the fact that it shows a history of ball tampering offences for Du Plessis?

To me its an open and shut case of what was worse.

Zipper vs saliva

Saffers were also docked 5 runs I think. Yet is as if its nothing happened.

Curious case

because the saffers didn't make a lot of fuss about it like they have here, and faf didn't appeal the decision.

Because the South Africans didn't make a big deal about it (probably because a zipper is completely undefendable)

the zipper was pretty blatant compared to the grey area of sweets and mints. Also the Aussies are a more high profile team compared to us. Their media has more sway in the cricketing world. anything that happens against england or aus will be amplified

So if South Africans had just accepted the charge, not talked about it and moved on you think Aussie media wouldn't have made as big of an issue ?

Australia has a few cry babies that's why.
No team a right to go over there and humiliate them like SA has over the last decade.
Any minor excuse was going to be used to cover up a humiliating 3rd series loss.
Remember, according to the Aussies series defeats away from hone don't count. So losing at home is the ultimate humiliation

Umm because zipper was a real thing?

And this saliva thingy was just blown out of proportions by the media. There's no tampering involved, every cricketer knows that.

Every cricketer does this when on field.

Media plays a big role, if our media targeted the opposition team like this, it will probably be dubbed terrorism, and the series will be forfeited..

I remember Phillips Hughes's (May he Rest in Peace) death (very tragic) was talked about in the media so much, and I remember Brendon Mccullum said we are not even interested in playing this series against Pakistan because our minds are not here.. It became a national tragedy for NZ and he wasn't even their countryman.

Compared this to what happened in APS Peshawar to our school children, our team still had to pretend everything was alright and play out the remaining games of the ODI series, and their tragedy was supposedly much bigger than ours.. it was no environment to play a cricket match to be honest.. it was an act of war on the children of our country yet we had to play out those games like nothing happened.

Because Australians cried. Can't say anything about the one against us but I'm sure it's because of the Australian people and media.

There have been various different allegation levelled at the South African team even philander has been involved

I understand there are feelings of double standards over what has recently come to press but I'm sure the ICC have investigated thoroughly and followed all the right codes

1) i think there was hearing and he accepted his fault

2) here its different, not only faf but many have spoken out how everyone shines the ball and there is always sugar in someone mouth while playing.

The rule itself is facing questions.

The only people crying about it are Amla and Faf himself.

Who made you play those matches, was it the ICC or the opposition.

Point is we could've been all gloomy and depressed like Brendon Mcullum was and say it in an interview that we are not here mentally, we don't wanna play this game..

Yeah. Nobody cared until Amla's press conference.

Here are my 2 cents Having seen ball tampering accusations over the last 2 decades;

1: This saliva sweet nonsense issue has been blown out of proportion. I guarantee you this sort of shinning the ball has been gone on for decades, wheather it's sweets or anything else like sunceam on the ball.

2: DU Plessis shouldn't have been charged. However once he was they have just kept quite about it, accepted it and just moved on.
However they didn't and handled quite poorly, which in turn gave some of the amunition to the Ausie media to pound down on them.

3: Ball tampering is an emotive issue. ICC need to be more clear in the rules and allow some form of tampering - like sweets to shine the ball or some part of scratching in a controlled manor - monitored by the umpire so it's not completely gorged either.

4: If ICC doesn't do nothing (as expected) then this issue will always have a very grey area because every team tampers the ball to some extent (this is the truth like it or not) however it's all about being subtle and not going over the top and getting caught.

I think you got my point, no need to elaborate it further.. Too much is hype is made of something that doesnot deserve the attention.. Aussie media in particular
