Why didn't the British colonize Nepal like the rest of the sub-continent?

They did try in 1814 by waging a few sporadic battles against the Gorkhas, but pulled out soon after?

Was it the harsh Nepali terrain, or some other factor that led to them shying away from the region?

Gorkhas couldn't understand the English accent hence, couldn't be intimidated . British had no choice but to have some momos and move south

Also many Nepalese were among the ones eager to help the British; check out who did who were most of the actual shooters during the Jalianwala Bagh massacre.... among others I'm sure
