Why do Australia always get to decide the 'line which cannot be crossed'?

It is interesting

They can sledge and abuse to their hearts content but they are always within the line but opponents who give it back always end up crossing this imaginary line.

What constitutes this line?

Excellent thread. I've wondered this over the better part of a decade.

It's almost like

a) We decide what the line is. This line is in our heads, mate.

b) Then we "head butt the line"

c) If you can't hack it, that's your problem. There's a line, mate.

d) Whoa you guys just crossed the line, mate. Our line mate.

e) That's not the spirit of cricket, mate.

Recycle and repeat.

The opposition must stand up. Kohli and co. did. Kohli openly said in a PC that aussies dont get to decide the rules of engagement.

Australia's sledging was ok when they're thr best tram in the world. It fitted their profile. They they look lile losers and a'holes to be honest. Can't take the bad genese out, I guess

At first it was the English because it was 'their' sport so they made the rules and everybody else had to follow. Bodyline? Whinging Aussies. Windies bouncing the crap out of everybody with four quicks? Well that's not cricket. Lose abroad? Dodgy umpires/hotels/curries/pitches etc. Win at home? Soft Asians aren't good enough to win in 'proper' conditions.

Then it was the Aussies, because when you win all the time you can dismiss everybody else's complaints as being sour grapes or jealousy.

Now that they don't win all the time, people feel like they can call them out on their nonsense.

Pioneer's of the sledging (Mental Disintegration).

When other teams started giving back ... Ozzie's respond with this line 'never crossed line' cry babies :rp :smith

Aussies typically get away with a bit of their whining because the English (rightfully) take the brunt of the crybaby persona, but if you want to dish it, get ready to take it and no one has dishes more than the Aussies.

King Kohli :kohli2 gave back with interest to Ozzie's in AUS :shh

Kohli was blowing kisses after hitting :mj for fun in last IND tour down under

:aag

But I don't think whatsoever there on the field that I have ever crossed that line.

Guess who said this recently?

Hint: Repeat offender, punched opposition player once, recently got fined by ICC :ashwin

Sometimes standing for the team is more important than winning or losing. It's for pride.

What sledging happened that series?

It happened weeks after Hughes died and from memory there was pretty minimal sledging.

Hughes incident and following good behaviour aside... Historically AUS players are known for sledging so need to cope it when others are giving back ...no double standards, :warner talking about not crossing line in media looks downgrade sissy level

hahaha great post!

The problem is, the ICC has been impotent for too long. How has Warner not received more bans ? This type of behaviour occurs almost every series as far as I can recall. Australia's captains and managers have allowed this behaviour, from the mid 90s on wards. A number of Aussies have been accused of racist comments too, and I can't remember who it was, maybe have been gIlly, was even found out on the stump mic. What happened? Nothing.

Unless there are punishments from within CA and from outside, nothing changes...and until that happens, teams have to give as good as they get. Regardless of what QDK said, why did he look so timid, afraid even, when Warner turned on him? I would have been straight back at him. Can you imagine the likes of Khan, Akram, Younis, Akhtar, Viv and nowadays Kohli submitting to this rubbish? Hell no.

Yeah but you were talking up Kohli as some badass for scoring runs against the sledging and it turns out he only did when there was no sledging.

Kholee sucks but please share with us any information you have on this line which cannot be crossed by Aussies.

Kohli will score more if riled up, he showed that when :mj and Faulkner sledged him.

Kohli blowed kiss to :mj in AUS for sure after hitting four.

IIRC Kohli also said to Faulkner 'i've smashed you enough go back and bowl' heard in one of the LOI in India or AUS not sure.

I've not said anything about any lines at all. I genuinely don't care about who says what.

Yeah but Faulkner is a mediocre player.

Hilarious post with some truth in it as well.

Have Australia lost ownership rights over this 'line' now?
