The whole of PP has been going berserk. I don't understand what fans want. You've won the only major ODI tournament played in the last 3-4 years and you have a pretty strong team.

Sure, there's going to be a few losses but that doesn't mean that something is entirely wrong. You're doing something right when you win major ODI tournaments abroad. Most of these guys are touring NZ for the first time so you cant expect them to go all guns blazing.

We as fans need to relax. This is a good bunch of players that will form the core of our team. You can't simply write players off so easily or fall to the conclusion that this is some existential crisis or foreign threat.

Like they say; ya win some and ya lose some. Take it on the chin and move on.

I'd agree in most cases.

But their effort has been rubbish this tour and the criticism is warranted. The players look like they're going through the motions.

Pretty much this.

Although the selections have not helped. But no team in the world would change a combination that just won a big tournament.

Because we all saw what they are capable of with the CT win. We saw what they were capable of with getting to #1 in tests. Did Misbah and Younis play a role in that? Yes! But it's wrong to say that Azhar and Shafiq didn't have a role in it to. Or Yasir Shah. Or Sami Islam. Etc.

I don't understand the hesistance from Inzi/Mickey/Sarfraz to push the pace. I don't understand the poor batting order selection. Is New Zealand a #1 team? No! Pakistan and NZ are ranked 5th and 6th-so by that logic it should have been at least a competitive series even if NZ won. The only game which has been remotely competitive has the fourth.

The problem is that they haven't really competed. NZ have strolled to 4-0.

There are plenty of liabilities in the squad plus selection isn't ideal but most were expecting a better show.

Professionalism and playing for your country means you try to win every time, you give your 100% every time and fight to the very end. When you fail to compete you should introspect and work hard to overcome the shortcomings.

We expect the team to be competitive at the very least. Winning and losing is part of the game.

No, its none of the above.

Pakistan keeps losing because they're not competing with the best possible resources available.

They, unfortunately dont have the personnel, especially in batting dept to win matches on a consistent basis.

And, the problem is the selection of the wrong sort of players, backward thinking, almost to the point of being totally inept ...its embarassing!

Inzy and Co need to be bold with batting selection and to hell with the results.

Decide what sort of players you need in top six and keep trying till you succeed.

(I might as well put this post on all the forums currently on view on PakPassion).

We haven't even competed on this tour. Furthermore the squad selected hasn't been selected on merit for some players. We know there are better players in LO cricket than Azhar and Hafeez yet they are still selected. That's why the fans are annoyed .

I agree, I don't think we're a million miles away from where we want to be.

We need to discard the sainted seniors Azhar, Malik and Hafeez and introduce some attacking flair into the batting. We're still stuck in outdated mindset that all we need to do is restrict opposition to 230 with our bowling when modern LOIs is all about batting strength.

Current Pakistan is better at test than short formats. Unfortunately they won't be playing much test Cricket in upcoming years. And not being able to do well in LOI format will be detrimental to their morale.

its a Desi thing ... some Indian fans are worse ... a lot of them are actually wringing their hands that we are a No.1 Test team ( that cant be right you see !! ) ... can never ever be happy with what we got. Always complaining. Major crab mentality.

We hardly play any other Sport. Cricket is the only one where we are any good at. The fans have every right to expect us to win.

Frankly speaking they looked worse than Misbah era Pakistan which has been the most shocking part. After CT win and comfortable thumping of Lanka we all were led to believe that this is a new Pakistan that can challenge any side. Besides those growing up in the 90s/00s would attest to fact how easily we used to sweep aside the Kiwis, home away neutral didn't matter. I think their historical record is only better than BD's record against us...... So it's very very surprising when an ex-minnow like NZ whip us like no tomorrow.

Expectations of a team performing, directly correlates to (probably) the age demographics of the fans - in most cases i.e.

Young people that might've started watching cricket post-2007 WC normally wouldn't have seen the ATG Australian XI or before than the Windies of the late70-Early/Mid 80s so naturally that urge of total dominance by a singular outfit isn't embedded into their visual narrative.

Personally speaking, I started watching cricket around 1997/98 & for a decade I envied the great Australian team that would spank all their competitors left, right and centre; all day, everyday & twice on Sundays. For this very reason, my embodiment of a champion team is someone that steps onto the field, and wins in a manner that isn't just dominating (once in a while) but consistently regardless of venue or opposition.

The same discourse can be charted for the great Windies team of the 80s while if you listen to blokes & gals of that era they essentially hold that particular team in such a regard while naturally for them their expectations too, might be in line on what they might've seen at that point in time.

At the moment (for the past 10-11 years) there has been no single dominant team, I don't agree with the notion of SA being the best team as I have seen dominance on a cricket friend, therefore fans (most of them being young & energetic) have this compromising nature of accepting the team's performance if they do 'ok', as long as they give a 'fght' - as per say.

Individualistically, I disagree to the very concept of being 'ok' as long as we can 'fight it out' because that for me is proper minnow mentality & for a guy who has seen champions like Wasim, Waqas, Inzi, Shoaib (in the flesh) run in while giving some to the opposition that is just unacceptable. Then there is the also the case of a professionalism issue, as when you step onto the field you go out there just to WIN, but apart from that obvious viewpoint I think the above explanation is what I personally feel is the reasons for our 'acceptance' under these current circumstances.

It's not about losing a series but in the manner we are losing without learning anything. In champions trophy bowlers were exceptional which stopped opposition bowling really testing our mediocre batting. CT win never meant our standards of batting has improved. Our flaws have been same since Misbah's days.

I would take losing every series if it mean we are going in right direction at least we will have hopes one day we will get to that standard other top teams are at. But even today our skipper and selectors are persisting with old mentality to play out 50 overs then criticism is totally valid. I mean what are chances of this batting line up chasing 300 odd total in the semi final of upcoming world cup?

What a silly thread

We're fans, of course we want our team to win every time

Yeesh

PP represents the hardcore Pakistani fan.

It's a natural reaction.

Just because they won the CT 6 months ago they should not be criticized or even if they go and lose 5-0 awfully?

This is the mentality really for things that get so much out of control.

It is like saying just because you won us the CT, now even if you go ahead and lose to any team and any amount of games it won't make a difference to us as you won us the ultimate thing the CT. :))

I think the reaction is because team have shown no fight what so ever.
