I'm sickened by all this hate mongering and religious extremism rampant in the subcontinent.
People who don't even know you would kill you unflinchingly without thinking twice just because you happened to be born in the wrong religion.
Fringe radical groups propping up with the sole aim of dismantling harmony of the region and creating more hatred and chaos across the country.
Frankly I'm just tired of all this BS.Why can't y'all just mind your own goddamn business and keep religion a private affair and let us all live in peace.
A mob killing someone over a cow.A GODDAMN COW.Thickheads with skullcaps running around burning shops and establishments over a facebook post.
What has happened to the world? Why can't everyone live in peace? Sometimes I just feel like running away to somewhere far with no Hindus or Muslims to disturb me for ever.

Welcome to the realisation of the fact that the Human species for all its gifts is still limited by its own stupidity.

Poverty and religious extremism go hand in hand.

Most people in subcontinent are dirt poor. Parents have tons of kids firmly believing that God will take care of them. Most of those kids will be hopeless when they grow up and they repeat the same mistakes their parents did. The result is a huge chunk of population with firm faith in their God as they pin all their hopes on God.

Anybody who remotely criticizes their God will get lynched. Freedom of thought and rationalism is strongly discouraged.

Social media is a dangerous tool in an uneducated populace. I'm not sure the subcontinent is ready for free speech just yet, maybe wait until the general public has reached a basic level of education.

Because human beings are stupid and everybody thinks what they believe in is correct and everything else is false.

People fight in the name of religion for two reasons.
1)They think that only their religion is supreme and hence they try to impose it on others.
2)When states mix religion and politics, religious conflicts are bound to occur. This is what exactly happened in
pre-Renaissance era in Europe. And this is what currently happening in Pakistan.

All religions should say that there is more than one way to reach God. A lot of problems will be solved.

its not just the subcontinent. Every part of the world, there has been war over religion. Christians V Jews, Jews V Muslims, Muslims V Hindus, Budhist V Christians

Anything you hold dear to yourself will be used by those who wish to control/manipulate you. It so happens that the threat of religious isolation is the biggest motivator for religious collectivist communities around the world as well as that of salvation. When people expect you to die for them they need a cause that can resonate with people, what better way to use the very thing you live for.

Reminds me of a quote I read here that goes a little something like: "People will die for religion, people will kill for religion, but people will not follow religion."

My heart bleeds when people who share my faith suffer at the hands of the others... None of my business when the others suffer.

It's a business why would they? More members = more money, more power, more influence. Of course, they will say their religion is superior to all that way the gullible will not only join but fight for it as well.

It all about POWAAAAAAA !

Religion is the most effective, least expensive and easiest way of influencing the thoughts, views and behavior of large groups of human beings . Who ever controls the narrative in a particular religion can easily get people to do what he/she/they want .

for power for influence. people who think that their violence is divinely mandated and will make the world a better place or that they will get a place in heaven for committing violence in Gods name especially true in the history of Islam and Christianity.

Religion is also used to mark social and cultural identity and when that is threatened it can be mobilised very easily to legitmise violence.

Peoples fight in the name of religion because peoples simply fight, since Abel and Caïn and the innate egocentrism of every individual - some anti-theists say this as if, without religion, all these madmen would have been Gandhi's.

In reality, there are way more peoples who have given charity despite being greedy because of religion - how many lives saved ? -, than there are have been "peaceful" men turned monsters because of religion.

We who live in western countries may be free from the tangle of religious wars in the middle east in a couple of generations. Most of the car manufacturers are moving away from fossil fuelled energy so oil should become less of a resource to fight over. Then we can leave that region to fight among themselves and we can keep a safe distance for the most part.

Because religious belief exists at that point in people's minds where their ability to comprehend the world rationally fails. They don't have any more answers so they take things on faith. Their nose is pressed against the wall of their internal ability to understand reality. Some people get very scared at that point. People with other views force them to look at that wall. They are willing to kill you so they don't have to look at it any more.

It is similar to supporting a Football team. Religion is much about chest thumping over how one group is more powerful then the other. Strange thing is that most people claiming to be from any religion can't even read their good book in it's original text.

But what about the bigotry that the Middle eastern nations have already exported to countries like India, Malaysia, Indonesia ? That isn't magically disappearing once the oil money dries up.

The rise in ISIS enrollment and radiacalism relatively communalism free Indian states (Kerala, Karnataka for example) and highy localized, liberal Muslim states like Malaysia and Indonesia are directly linked to Saud/Qatari funded radical ideology .

Only the West has the military prowess and resources to isolate itself from the Middle east's madness . Places like South & South east Asia will always be soft targets.
