While we have seen it multiple times for Pak in last couple of years getting the opposition team under pressure by getting 3-5 early wickets and than using not so attcaking bowlers and saving the main bowlers for the end rather than trying to finish it off especially when bowling first. Defending can be another matter sometimes.

Today against NZ they got Aus to 92 for 5 and then saved their key bowlers for the end and by then Aus was already able to make a decent score for the pitch they were playing on. Boult took a hatrick at the end but Aussies were already off the hook.

Why do you think captains are afraid especially when they are bowling first? Why cant they try to use their best bowlers to finish of the innings rather then fearing for what will happen at the end?

Kane is too defensive. Not surprised he let Aus back into the game, he did the same against India. I thought he was just trying to give the bowlers a look, but that's just how he operates...

True but he isnt the only one, many captains of other sides also follow the same strategy more often then not.

When did NZ play against India in this WC?

Agree though - Williamson is a very defensive captain.

There's also the WI game where he let the game drift and allowed Brathawae settle and take the game deep because he thought the game was over. There was no pressure or intensity once WI were 5-6 down.
