Why do we confuse aggression with badtameezi?

We need to get out of our bubbles and stop finger pointing players for being "badtameez" if they show aggression and passion on the field.

Take Kohli for example, one might think his sledging is over the top and his celebrations and antics are dramatic or disrespectful of the game. But I see a player who is willing to give every inch of himself on the field to win his country a game of cricket.

In the past, their wasn't a camera installed everywhere and no stump mics to pick up whatever was said on the field. Hence, why we have these retired "legends" of our game pretend to act like gentlemen's and say their was no sledging or stupid antics in the game before. Their was actually much more of that before.

I'd rather have a Kohli in my team than a Rahat Ali. Who is notorious for often standing in the field with no passion or willingness to win a game for his country. High time we get behind players like Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf, Imad Wasim, etc. Who are passionate about winning games for their teams and being aggressive on the field.

Direct your aggression towards the opposition, not towards the broadcasters.🤦🏻*♂️

Just because the review goes against you, it doesn’t mean you should start screaming like a girl at the stump mic.

There’s kids watching, the guy is meant to be a role model.

You can play hard for your country without being Kohli. He and his wannabe Aussie antics are a disgrace. I will tell you a little secret. Most of these new Indian cricketers who debuted after 2010 saw all the time the Aussie great team sledging and also winning. They think this is the way to play cricket. Aussies do it naturally. Most of these Indian cricketers feel they have been forced to act out of there character that's why it comes off as uncool and uncouth.
No thanks. I would have my team follow someone like Elgar (battle hardened guy) or a Kane Williamson.

I think Kohli crossed the line.

It is one thing to do sledging. It is another thing to go overboard over an umpiring decision.

Being aggressive shouldn't mean crossing a line.

I agree with the premise here. Too often people mistake aggression with arrogance.

Not sure it applies to Kohli now as he is an extremely stubborn and arrogant individual now. But he wasn't always that way, and was still aggressive.

There is a fine line between being aggressive and arrogant, between being passionate and overwrought, between being competitive and ungentlemanly.

Many cricketers occasionally toe this line but essentially exist on the right side of it, whereas Kohli I would argue generally locates himself on the wrong side of it.

Being aggressive doesn't mean you go on abusing opposition players....or accuse the whole country and broadcasters of cheating when a decision doesn't go your way.....Kohli just comes across as a sore loser here.

You know who one of the most aggressive cricketers of all time is?

Rahul Dravid.

No dramaybaazi, no shouting/screaming/cursing. Just stand there all day and score runs, no matter what tantrums bowlers and fielders around him would throw. I bet within himself he would say "just try get me out, MF".

Very fine line between aggression and badtameezi.
What Kohli and co. did after Elgar DRS was pure badtameezi. You think something is wrong, lodge a complaint with Referee and follow the protocol.
Else there is no difference between international cricket and gully cricket.

These guys represent nation, and I am okay if they lose a match/series instead of behaving like sore losers.

Kohli is turning into a badtameez. I don't know how he treats Rahul Dravid in the dressing room. Sad thing is there are many fans who support Kohli's behaviour openly and they don't see anything wrong in it. Just goes to show what kind of society India is becoming where behaviour like this is accepted by fans. :inti

Like we equate religious with spiritual. Kohli is a friendly guy.
