I think we really need one. Misbah already has a lot of work and he is not qualified to be a batting coach. Is PCB really too cheap?

Wasim Khan said it was up to Misbah. He said that they will recruit a batting coach if Misbah asks for one.

Not sure how you can teach temperament. you have to pick players who have come through ranks.

Pak should hire an amre or a Bangar from india - even as consultants they understand subcontinent batters better . Pak should focus on using India / sl coaches . Last two decades best batters came from here

Should nbe Inzi or yousuf. Both knew how to pace innings in tests and odi's something that is sorely missing from this team's batsmen.

Pak team needs a proper batting coach cum mentor, assistant coach, fielding coach and a spin bowling coach.
Aussies have Langar as their head coach but they have still gone for a separate batting coach in Greame Hick and same is the case with most other teams as well. Cricket has become too professional and its not possible for a head coach to train the batsmen on the side too.

Still sounds like one big cost cutting exercise to me.
General rule of thumb you hire specialists, no idea what Wasim is thinking with this one. Just bite the bullet and bring in a batting coach and a head coach. Keep Misbah as a selector.

If bowling coach can contribute in selection of bowlers why cant batting coach should be able to do the same? If batting coach is hired he will definitely have a say.

When I played cricket we had many former state cricketers that coached and ran trials for the U-17 states and U-17 India and so on. The issue was lot of these guys don't know how to translate what they are trying to say to the players. Just because they played professional cricket doesn't mean they can coach. Also lot of these coaches had "My way or highway" attitude. They want all the batsmen to bat and score in the same areas as they did lol.
He wanted to do the job, but now with Misbah in charge - no chance.

Pakistan's most technically sound and aesthetically pleasing test bat and a damn fine ODI player, not sure why he was never given any coaching roles even at junior levels while even fuddus like Basit Ali been coaching since ages.

Well Yousuf hasn't been in PCB's good books ever since he stopped playing.
In fact he can't even get a domestic batting coach role.

And that is what is quite surprising considering pretty much all of your ex players love to rip PCB to shreds when they get a chance so why this step motherly attitude towards only Yousuf? He was marvelous to watch in his prime, very unfairly treated so far I must say.
Don't get me wrong for saying this but I think Wasim Khan should find new ways, be it coaching or consulting, to keep the ex players engaged. That way they will contribute to your cricket plus won't find time to blabber nonsense on youtube, win win.

Drives, cuts and flicks, pull and hooks, and sweeps, as well as blocks.
If players cant play these shots, which many can't in domestics, they should not be picked for domestics teams.
Coaching is meant for kids, to teach them technically how to play these shots. For adults coaches cant teach these guys how to bat or play shots, its more about tidying up any little flaws in their technique.

Problem with most of the Pak ex cricketers as Razzaq just gave an example is that they speak a lot of random things in media without thinking first and tarnish their image in the eyes of PCB as well when they target PCB and their appointments by going all out. Surely Yousuf can do wonders with young batsmen but he will first need to come in the good books of PCB. Ego wars between PCB and players have stolen young Pakistani players from a lot of opportunities to get knowledge and to learn some tricks of the trait from the ex greats.
Its high time ex players start to behave sensibly and put their hands up for the U19, domestic, Pak A and roles with national team and at the same time for PCB should give them the much needed respect and proper compensation packages.

I doubt ever . Indians overall love Pak cricket and to be honest , not much difference between us . Parties don’t want ind pak match in india but pak cricketers are welcome in india and nobody call anybody a traitor for coaching cricket . It’s not as if they are coaching war mantra !

"coach" is probably the wrong title at this level. They are supposed to be more like mentors. They should be pointing minor tweaks at this level that become habitual with time such as head on top of ball, playing straight with the new ball, keeping still etc. Not that the players themselves cant manage that but always good to have mentors in all walks of life.

That's your personal opinion, mate. Not of Indians at large. Saying Indians love Pak cricket is ridiculous. Most Indians don't care about Pak cricket except mocking it for how bad it has become. There's no great players like there used to be. With the current government, the news channels at present and the influence of social media, there hasn't been a stronger anti-Pakistan sentiment in a long time.
And yes, many people will call them traitors for coaching the Pakistan team and helping in their betterment.

Pakistan need batting coaches , and proper batting coaches at lower levels. Not big names , but solid person with work ethics.

Make Younis Khan the batting couch. Pak already missed the opportunity to appoint him as u19 couch, thus should not repeat the mistake.
PCB doesn't want to waste money. I am happy with that. When we have defensive captain like Azhar, clueless head coach cum selector like Misbah, selfish and lazy bowling coach like Waqar there is no need to waste money. By tuktuking hours after hours will always lead us to defeat. Why waste money?
