Virat kohli has 18 brand endorsements and literally every indian cricketer has some sort of endorsements. But why do pak players not featurein ads nowadays?

There aren't many big names or superstars who the world recognises.

Our players have no personality. Babar is a brilliant batsmen but he doesn't have much of a personality.

Shadab is one who has personality and some fire in his belly. If he can sort his game out, he may get the advertisements you are looking for.

None of them look like Afridi and have hair like Afridi. Afridi didn’t just have fan girls, he had fan boys including myself. I’ve seen Indian women on YouTube saying how attractive Afridi is.

So basically what I’m trying to say is someone like Faheem Ashraf isn’t going to get a Head and Shoulders when they don't look as good.

They do though? Babar, Shaheen, Shadab, and Hassan Ali were all in Head and shoulders (bojh hata de), Shadab, Imad were in Pepsi (Khel Ja Dil Se, with cameos from Akram and YK), Babar did Tiger Biscuit, Shadab’s done Dastak, Tapal paid a bunch of cricketers to do interviews with Wasim Akram while drinking Tapal tea, so on and so forth.

I’m just talking about recent ads from the last 2-3 years. It’s not as bad as it’s being made out to be on this thread.

Obviously, it’s nothing compared to Virat Kohli or Indian cricketers but those guys also have literally the biggest fanbases of any sportsmen anywhere in the world. The only people who compete with the Indian team, in terms of pure number of people who support them, are top footballers or tennis players maybe.

Obviously Pakistani players are never going to reach that standard - especially with our team at an all time low in terms of support. It doesn’t help that many of our cricketers are not very marketable - Babar Azam is closer to Steve Smith in terms of marketability than Virat Kohli or Ben Stokes. He doesn’t have that aggressive brand that incentivizes sales.

Building on that, Pakistan doesn’t have a big market to advertise to, given the small size of our middle and upper class. Even if it did, we don’t have a lot of big companies with the money to splurge on top class ads - when’s the last time you saw an ad on a Pakistani television and were left impressed by the production quality?

As mentioned by some posters above, Shadab is immensely marketable and all the big brands have already picked up on this. Go through the names I mentioned in my first paragraph and you’ll see Shadab feature in all of them. Being the main cricketer (alongside Imad) in a Pepsi music video written by Xulfi, and sung by him, Aima Baig, and Fawad Khan, while also bringing in Wasim Akram and Younis Khan is no small deal.

I expect Haider to be quite marketable with the brand of cricket he plays. Let’s see how things develop. But overall, keep your expectations low because even if we had a Shahid Afridi-level star, the financials just don’t work out. And probably, the financials will never compare to India.

These are India only ads though. No Indian cricketer would feature on say a Pepsi, Colgate or Gillette international ad.

Don’t Pakistan cricketers feature on say Audi or BMW Pakistan ads?

You really think they show car ads on Pakistani TV? I’ve been 4 times in the last 6 years, each visit was for a month. Not once did I see a car ad. The only time I did see it was during the World Cup 2019, but that was on Star Plus.

The lack of variety in ads are very low, it’ll be the same Fogg deodorant ad repeated 3 times in one cycle, or money transfer ads.

And hassan ali

Market forces and economy decides the endorsements. Rohit sharma will alone fly via a charter plane. Pcb sent their team via regular flight. That tells the difference. Though pcb is inept and did not market the game well within Pakistan Despite huge interest.

How about drinks like boost or horlicks. How about ads for mutual funds banks etc. I like jio ad they showed. How about telecom companies or Chinese companies

They'll get some local ads contracts, mobile phones etc.

But nothing major internationally as they aren't that well known.

Iftikhar should appear in ads for those anti-ageing formulas.

This thread is based on a false premise. Pakistani cricketers do appear in ads like one of the poster mentioned above. Maybe OP should do a little research the next time he decides to open a thread.

Because they get slated by Pakistani public for not focusing on cricket.

They can't speak English properly.

Why can't Pakistani players speak English like Indian? What's the diff?

People are overplaying the whole "lack of personality and looks" trope. You don't need good looks or personality to get an endorsement, what you do need is to have a big name in your field - which is why even the most boring and average looking basketball and football players have ads; right now besides Babar Azam no one has that so advertisers don't believe these guys can sell their products to a large market. Also Pakistan has a weak economy and poor purchasing power so there are very few companies that would even consider athletes for their ads.
