Junaid Khan averages 31 in 22 matches with five 5 wickets haul and that too mainly on dead UAE tracks.

He is also the highest wicket taker for Pakistan amongst pacers in the last decade along with Amir and Wahab and not to forget that too only between 2011-15 (The years he played in) in which he played.

Yes he had a knee issues and surgeries as well, he came back and did really well in CT17 too and was the 3rd highest wicket taker in the tournament.

In QAE trophy 2019, in his last match he has taken 4/36 in an innings vs Baluchistan and overall season is decent considering how other pacers have fared.

So the question is with all the take about experience recently why has Junaid Khan havent played a test in last 4 years?

I think he didn’t do too well in his last test series in the uae and England and was jettisoned from the squad. Right or wrong who knows but you expect senior pacers to step up when the opportunity arises.

We could explain but sach karwa hota hai. :jk

Another so called saviour

He has simply lost the pace and zip after multiple injuries

Don't bring him up.
He is VERY hated on this website

I personally think he is very unlucky and deserved to play more matches.

He bowled all of his matches in Asia or almost all. Accurate bowler with a pretty good yorker

Poor fitness, unrealiable in regards to been able to bowl good spells across a day. Usually it was 1st spell good and there after he would be struggling to bowl with any zip or menace.

Another TTF who feels it's his turn on the merry go round.

Never been anything other than ordinary.

so, basically coming back to play against Sri Lanka then? He meets the misbah criteria as you described.

Am sure umar gul and malcolm sami have been ear marked for comebacks under misbah for SL series.

I understand the sentiment but since recovering from his injury he hasnt played a test, a format in which he hasnt done too badly overall except maybe his last series in 2015. As I said he probably has the most number of 5 wickets hauls for a Pakistani pacer in the last decade.

Now with Amir and Wahab gone and Junaid looking in decent form, there is no harm in looking towards him.

umar gul yes, sami no, sohail khan yes. Criteria is documented history of fitness issues that lead to being sidelined by Mickey.
Sami's has superior fitness and the heart of a mouse, so he wont get to play.

The added bonus with junaid and imran khan is that they can fool the batsmen with their pace: they get to the batsmen on their follow through before their delivery gets there.

Lol! Epic.

Though comparing Imran Khan with him is pretty harsh on Junaid. If Junaid was as bad as many are making him out to be than how come no other pacer from Pak has as many 5fers as Junaid in the last decade. If he is fit and in decent form, i dont see any harm in trying him as its not like we are bamboozling through batting lineups.

If it doesnt work he can be banished again for that matter.

Doesn't have the pace he once had. Time to look to the future, need to develop Shaheen, Naseem, Sameen as our test match fast bowlers.

He actually made Warner dance around in one of the ODIs Pak played in 2016. Its on YouTube as well.

Where that happened in UAE? I remember Pak winning a match though in Aus sometimes back chasing a low total on a surprisingly sluggish pitch where Imad Wasim of all people seemed unplayable lol.

Yeah. But we don’t need to do that with Junaid. We already know he is not fit enough for test cricket

Because he's no good. No pace, no bounce, no swing, doesn't really bring much to the table.

No no.. in Aus. Search Juanid Khan vs Warner on youtube. :bm

He was a pretty good bowler when fit and in rhythm.

Pretty poor average in the QEA this season

Yes he hasnt been really good, last match was pretty good from him with 4/36 in one of the innings. Most of the pacers have struggled in QAE this season. His average of 37 with bowl this season isnt as bad as it looks .

Junaid was finished in 2014 after his injury. He lost that pace and swing that he was known for before.

You rate Junaid yet called Naseem trash :))

just angry man with the way they bowled. Its frustrating to see them get belted like that. Maybe he will Improve later.
shaheen is my boy. not naseem lol. I just want to see him bowl skilfully at good pace not just throw pattas at 140 plus. If he does the latter then warner will dispatch them with ease because that dude is the biggest home track bully of all time. Total cannon fodder outside australia but he is a GOD in Australian conditions.

Junaid's time is over. Even his most ardent supporters will not say he can play test cricket now

JK is a one series wonder. After the Aane do series, he looked believable average.

I would rate shinwari over JK.

After the Aane do series, Junaid bowled brilliantly in 2013 and was the emerging bowler of the year, contributing in several series wins, including home and away.

However, as one poster mentioned, it was in 2014 when Junaid fell off due to his injury.

Played 22 Tests:

0 in England
0 in Australia
0 in New Zealand
1 in South Africa
18 in Asia
3 in Zimbabwe

Pretty tough going to have played 18 of your 22 Tests in Asia.
