Why hasn't Inzamam-ul-Haq made it to the ICC Hall of Fame yet?

According to the rules, a player is eligible to be inducted to the ICC Hall of Fame 5 years after his retirement. Inzamam retired in 2007, so he was eligible to be inducted in 2012.

It's 2023 now, and he still hasn't been inducted yet. I mean some Pakistani fans consider him a better batsman than Sachin Tendulkar. So shouldn't such a player should have made it to the ICC Hall of Fame back in 2012 itself, when he became eligible for the honor?

He is a better batsmen than Tendulkar for sure but ICC hall of fame isn't given based on whether a batter is better than Tendulkar or not :))

Other players have made an impact on Pakistan cricket and hence made it into the list first.

From ICC - Criteria for HOF is a little "dheela" or loose.

The ICC Cricket Hall of Fame was launched on 2 January 2009 in association with the Federation of International Cricketers Associations (FICA), as part of the ICC's centenary year celebrations. The ICC Cricket Hall of Fame recognises the achievements of the legends of the game from cricket's long and illustrious history.

The initial intake of inductees are the 55 players named in the FICA Hall of Fame, which ran between 1999 and 2003. This was supplemented by a select group of inductions each year, which started in 2009 when five new inductees; Wasim Akram, Clarrie Grimmett, Herbert Sutcliffe, Victor Trumper and Steve Waugh, were announced as new members of the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame at the LG ICC Awards.

Induction ceremonies take place throughout the cricket calendar where the inductees (or, in the case of those who have passed away, their relatives) are presented with a commemorative ICC Cricket Hall of Fame cap. The living members of the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame are also involved in the selection process to the new intake of legends into the Hall of Fame each year.

Over the recent years, Waqar has been bashed soo much that we often forget, he is also a hall of famer from Pakistan. Just shows how bad his coaching has been.

As for the thread, its takes time to induct the players. Inzi will be inducted eventually, but he is low on the pecking order as there are more players from Pakistan that can get inducted first.

THere is Saqlain Mushtaq, or Fazal Mehmood.

Maybe Oval gate is holding him back he definitely lost some friends at ICC with that incident if Jayawardena etc can make in HOF so can Inzimam

Not good enough. There are 50 better batsman than him in last 50 years. Hence, it is not possible to give that many names a "HOF" induction.

Out of 109 inductees in the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame, 82 are from England, Australia and Windies

Though, these three teams started playing earlier than other teams, only 27 players are included from those teams.
Seven inductees each from India and Pakistan, six from South Africa, three each from Sri Lanka and Newzealand and one from Zimbabwe.
While England has 32 inductees, 29 from Australia and 21 from Windies.

Players like Desilva,Vaas, Jayasuriya, Ganguly, Viswanath, Prasanna, Umirgar, Chandrasekhar, Graeme Smith, Kirsten, Boucher, Fazal Mahmood, Inzamam, Yousuf, Fleming, Vettori, Streak, Klusener, Anwar are yet to be included. But players like Constantine, Graveney, Larwood, McCabe, Barry Richards, Woolley are already part of hall of fame.

Can't understand why Fazal Mahmood, Jayasuriya, Chandrasekhar, Inzamam aren't yet part of it.

Discuss.
