A few years ago when Afghanistan made it's first waves in international cricket and before Rashid and Mujeeb had burst onto the scene, Afghanistan's fast-bowlers played an instrumental in their development with guys like Hamid Hassan often being front and center of early Afghan wins.

I was initially surprised to not see them in Afghanistan's squad for their inaugural test match but not seeing them at the Asia Cup was even more surprising because I feel guys like Hassan and Dawlat could have significantly boosted their pace-bowling attack and would have been far better options than the medium-pacers Alam and Naib. Then I learned that Hassan hasn't played for Afghanistan in 2 years despite being only 30 years old and averaging 20 with the ball. While Shapoor and Dawlat haven't played since the WC qualifiers despite turning up respectable performances with the ball.

Can anyone explain why they're not in Afghanistan's squad? Surely they are better options than Naib and Alam who rarely look like getting wickets.
