No PSL franchise promotes new and young Pakistani talent like Islamabad United does.

Why is that? And even with this strategy, they are the most successful PSL team.

Why are other teams so scared to do it?

It was particularly true in the first few PSL seasons - when other teams didn't play any local young talent. Now they are starting to do it.

ISLU promoted:
- Akif Khan
- Amad Butt
- Safi Abdullah
- Husain Talat
- Sharjeel
- Shadab
- Rumman Raees
- Musa
- Asif Ali
- Faheem Ashraf

Lahore:
- Haris Rauf

Peshawar:
- Haider (after 5 seasons of PSL, a youngster)

Multan:
Zeeshan

It has nothing to do with Misbah, close thread/

Bit of a loose definition of 'young talent', Sharjeel was 27 years old in PSL 1, I think. And Asif Ali and Rumman Raees were already established players in T20 cricket before PSL, though of course, PSL enhanced their status.

Overall, IU have invested in a good number of youngsters though, no doubt about that.

However, your list tells me you don't follow other teams much. :inti

Either young or unknown local talent. Has to be PAK talent.

So, what's the list of players introduced by other teams?

I don't recall anyone promoted by other teams, or very few players especially until PSL 3.

Got nothing to do with misbah so this thread should be binned. We saw yesterday how much opportunities he gives the local talent.

HAHAHA.

Of course it hurts when your perceived, fantasy reality is different from the actual reality.

The coach, captain, and the most powerful person in the team has obviously nothing to do with it.

So why don't you tell us the actual reason?

Yeah misbah was also responsible last 4 years as well. We know you worship misbah hence you can't see the actual reality.

Why ISLU is the best franchise at promoting local talent?

IU have introduced us Shadab that’s it. Everyone else was already on the radar.

And the reason IU have had a lot of players that made it to the Pakistan team is because Misbah was Pakistan’s captain when he was playing for IU and now he’s the head coach. It was some good old fashioned nepotism.

Those two journalists who work for IU as data analysts actually give a damn and do their research on domestic cricket.

WOW WOW WOW.

And ISLU youngsters win them a GREAT MATCH!!!

Shadab
Musa
Amad Butt
Safi Abdullah

TAKE A BOW Islamabad United.

LQ is the the main team in terms of bringing talent. Islamabad is trash in terms of bringing new talent. Shadab and Musa are just okay. Ammad butt is mediocre. Akif is promising.

misbah retired from LOI in 2015. PSL started in 2016. kuch bhi.

The two managers of Islamabad United are from Lahore so they know which players are the best from Lahore and other cities.

They just can't face the facts that ISLU is the best team.

And that too at the back of strong local talent.

Despite these haters claiming 'talent is mediocre', it's these youngsters and local talent with which ISLU has become the strongest team.

And the most successful one.

But... Shadab, Musa, Amad, Akif Javed, Sharjeel, etc.

They aren't from Lahore.

:najam

I think, this years PSL already has produced an encouraging amount of performance from youngsters - Hasnain, Shaheen, Musa, Akif, Shadab, Leggi Mohsin, Zeeshan, Azam, Haider. Most of them are bowlers which is a bit concern, but I think it’s a blessing in disguise- T20 is not a place to identify batting potential.

Tbh the only batsmen who have been given a go are zeeshan and haider the rest of them pretty much have already played psl.

Islamabad again producing brand new gems this season.

Akif Javed
Ahmed Safi Abdullah (Left arm spinner - did you watch him yesterday? seems decent)

Lahore has few other names as well... you are ignoring too much.Lahore Fahar zaman, shaheen,Haris Rauf, sohail ahtar.

TBH they have done well at PSL level but most of these "GUN" youngsters have been pretty ordinary at the highest level.

Yes none except Shadab.Sherjeel was already there,Asif ali was top performer in national t20.close the thread,

Fakhar, Shaheen were already established names in international.

Haris Rauf, yes, they brought him up. Sohail Akhtar, well everyone seems to be hating him right now.

They are the best at PSL level. And some have international quality. Not every person at IPL/PSL/BBL level becomes an international star.

The key is, relying on local talent and promoting local talent. Winning tournaments while also giving chances to local talent.

People here themselves say internationals shouldn't be based on PSL.

Ahmad Safi was ordinary think.

Have to see more of Ahmed Safi to give a verdict.

Took a wicket, won us the match too and didn't get out as the last man.

Just happy that ISLU is sticking to their tradition of bringing up local talent.

So lets wait for the verdict..But how can Faheem Ashraf make that list too?? hw was part of pak international t20 and Odi before that.Shadab so far is on their list.

Please name another player who wasn't already on the radar that made his name for Islamabad apart from Shadab. I'll wait.

Asif Ali doesn't count. He's trash.

Woah.

They're now polishing Shadab's skills full-time. If his batting can be developed further his utility will increase quite a bit.

Great to see Amad Butt being given consistent chances too.

But during the first match, you were busy telling everyone that he is terrible :inti

I guess he has to be counted now since Talat, Rizwan, and Badar are all benched. :najam

Yes, I do not consider him to be a genuine hitter.

And that's why it's good to see his skills are being developed, because they're not up to the mark.

His range of shots is as bad as Imad Wasim's. This might help him expand that.

Wait, why did they drop Akif? The only truly new player with tons of potential?

No space either for Talat, Badar, Rizwan Hussain, Zafar Gohar.

Amazing development of youngsters.

I'm amazed at your vile hate fetish against the guy who has actually promoted the MOST number of local talent in PSL's history.

You sit and wait in anguish to attack the guy and franchise that has promoted 10-20 times more local people than others.

Yet remain silent at other teams that have not even promoted 20% of what ISLU has done.

Your agenda and hate is very self-evident. You're not fooling anyone.

Come back here once others start doing 20% of what Misbah is doing.

You only pick and choose, and reply to random posts while ignoring other points when you have no rationale.

Lol 10-20 times more local people. Keep telling yourself that. Anyway, you've been wrong about Multan so far and wrong about Islu. You change your comments about players such as Shadab depending on where Misbah plays them. You’re willing to drop Babar down the order just to select Kami.

You have extreme bias and favouritism.

What's Misbah doing with Saif Badar?

Islamabad has given us Shadab, thats it. Sharjeel and Rumman Raees were already prominent players before PSL, Moosa and Abdullah are work in progress, jury is out on them but all others are tried and failed players. Most are already discarded but Faheem keeps coming back for reasons best known to Misbah.

Now look at other teams

Peshawar:
Hasan Ali

Lahore:
Shaheen Afridi (best pick)
Haris Rauf
Fakhar

Quetta:
Nawaz
Azam Khan

Multan:
Khushdil Shah

Karachi:
Umer Khan

Quetta also gave Hasnain while Peshawar is doing really good job with Haider Ali. Multan has also made a pretty good pick in Zeeshan Ashraf. Also Akif Javed is a pretty good pick by Islamabad and he will probably play more matches as well.

WOW!

Another youngster and local talent brought forward.

Rizwan Hussain, batting at #3.
Forum363 I'm sure you will invent a reason to hate on ISLU/Misbah again.

Yes.

Good to see other PSL teams for the first time in 5 seasons giving chances to local talent.

Doing bhangra over a 22 run knock. The desperation of Misbah fans is there for everyone to see.

Singing a very different tune today Hawkeye

The true nature of Misbah’s leadership is evident. He dropped Zafar despite him bowling well in the limited chances he’s been given.

Huge injustice to Gohar this season and they’re paying the price.
