the MCG Test has finished in two and a half days. Pitch anyone? Or is it reserved for Indian pitches?
When England blown away at Ahmedabad in 30 overs The cricket experts saying pitch wasn't proper for test match. Today England blown away inside 28 overs. Is pitch still not good or england not good to play on tricky surfaces?

Had Bangladesh lost inside seven sessions, everyone would have been talking to take away their Test status now.

Australia got 265 runs in one inning so the pitch was fine.

In Ahmedabad Test, no team crossed 200 runs in an inning. But anyways, that was a pink ball contest and it was a new thing in subcontinent. So, relax and move on!

Valid point. Even in India England were not able to play straight balls in the last test.. Which were not even spinning, yet everyone was blaming the pitch.

India won ahemdabad test by 10 wickets .india chase down 49 runs target without losing any wickets .

People were criticizing the 2nd Test (chennai) wicket too where India scored 300+ with Ashwin scoring a 100.

There was nothing wrong with the wicket in 3rd Test too as it was the pronounced seam of the pink ball that exaggerated the turn. It all just comes across as extremely hypocritical..

I don't think there was any major issue with the pitch. England were just not good enough.

The pitch was fine. England minus Root don't know how to bat properly.

Yes. At the MCG just one team was crappy with bat. In Ahmedabad both teams were crappy with bat. Root ran through India. Axar ran through England. Due to total being low INdia overcame easily. This is an era where batting sucks.

I’d say the MCG is now a competitive sporting wicket with something in it for the bowlers, and it also rewards good batting for those who have the skill, do the groundwork, and get their eye in.

The incompetence of the current England batters (bar Root) should not cause this wicket to be criticised. There are many recent ex England players who could have scored on such a wicket — Strauss, Trott, KP, Stewart, Thorpe, even Collingwood.

On these pitches, the toss does not come close to deciding the outcome of the Test match and the team who adapts to the conditions best will win.

In other words — an excellent Test match pitch.

Yes, it was more due to pink ball than the pitch and that is why the curators didn't deamed it as a poor pitch. The nature of pink ball was still unknown and hence I expect more balanced matches next time with the pink ball.

The scoreboard shouldn't be deemed as a criteria to define the pitches produced by the curators.

This.

Had raised this point in Ahmedabad test thread that English batsmen were getting dismissed on straight deliveries.

To conclude, English batsmen are clueless against any type of bowling, be it Axar or Boland, nothing wrong with the pitch, incidentally both are debutants.

Pitch was fine.String Australian bowling and poor English batting was the reason England lost.Australian bowlers were relentless.

Thats because we won that test. 1st test was played on the same pitch and the pitch was deemed alright, you know why!

1. Pitch was fine
2. ACB counting the losses due to refunding spectators for the the days not played and for spectators losing interest due to the one sided contest - we are talking many millions of dollars I suspect.
3.Question may even be asked about the importance of England challenging in future Ashes tours.

But the pitch was fine. England are not fine. That’s the issue.
