Recently I had a pleasure to go to Northern areas, Kaghan, Naran, all the way to Hunza and finally Skardu. I swear it is one of cleanest purest areas of world I have seen! and I have been to many places in the world.

I think cleanliness really depends on cultures and habits, the people of northern pakistan are by nature much more cleaner then the southern desi parts of the country. Look at how dirty Karachi is for example and look at India, the biggest desi country and perhaps the most filthy and dirty. We really need to learn from our northern people on how to live, they are from heaven it seems and we desis are from hell. Sorry to sound bad, but I really wanted to say this. Where ever we desis go, we make the place dirty, most of our people have no manners at all! All other people look down upon us

Literacy rate is also very high there and crime rate is the lowest.

How much is the population there, in India most of the less populated states are clean and one of the village was even ranked as the Asia's cleanest village

Peshawar, Abottabad, etc... all have lots of garbage every where. Its in North Pak as well.

Where ever in Pakistan we have a high population density, we see more garbage.

Population density is less far up north so you see less garbage.

Pakistani people need to take personal responsibility. Everyone just litters everywhere.

Yes but people in Hunza and Skardu clean streets and garbage themselves. Every where there were keep clean signs. By nature they are cleaner. People in Karachi or Lahore, Peshawer cant even clean the front of their houses

That village is north east of India, they are not desis, hence my point. The non desis in south asia are cleaner.

Personal responsibility needs to be driven by local and national initiative. During the PSL there was some sort of Pakistan Saaf promotion being aired, this sort of thing will help educate the population to take pride in their surroundings as a civic duty as well as on a personal level.

I live in one of the most clean city of Toronto and country of the world. Yet, I see people throw plastic bottles, coffee cups, general litter all over the road, grass banks and sidewalks. I have friends who throw litter on streets. You don’t need education for this - your mindset matters. I pick up litter and throw it in the garbage bin if I come across. Litter bothers me.

I go to work at 7 in the morning and on my way to work I see a lot of litter from the previous day and if it wasn’t for government pledge to keep Toronto clean - it will be another Karachi in a week.

People are the most educated one living in Canada and yet this is a problem. And what do you expect from a thrid world country?

Are u kidding? Who is throwing garbage in Toronto? It is mostly us desis. The dirtiest parts of Toronto or any western cities are where there are many desis living. We really have the worst manners, habits and hygenies in the world, look at our dirty filthy restuarants in thr west, they always close down our resturants because they are so filthy

Next time when you walk or drive in Toronto - take a closer look on sidewalks, road corners and grass banks and you will know what I’m talking about. You will see a lot of litter.

I work in Toronto, I dont see any of that. Some garbage is normal but Canadians (except desi Canadians) dont have a habit of throwing garbage on streets.

There is not a proper system in place which could efficiently recycle or dispose the garbage.

On my last visit to Pakistan I could hardly find any public dustbins. I had no choice but to do what the general public does.

I know for a fact that one of the cleanest countries in the world have a highly efficient and simple system in place to handle wastes. Sure people also have the right attitude however I believe the attitude developed because they know how, where and when they can dispose garbage.

The garbage problem has increased a lot since the EU borders were opened plus the refugees. However its mostly on the exits of the Autobahn or in the wild parks where there is not that much scheduled cleaning.

It's not clean.

You can't go anywhere without finding lays wrappers and empty coke bottles and damage to both flora and fauna.

Literacy rate is high. The population is relatively low as well.

That is why these villages are relatively clean. The elderly don't produce as much litter as youngsters do.

That's because the elderly are usually past the age of producing youngsters so those villages usually have a very low percentage of younger people who have to move to the metropolises to earn a living.

well North Pakistan is crown of Pakistan in everyway.

Yes, but I wish they were the ones who ruled Pakistan, not desis. We desis cant run anything with out corruption. Northern Pakistanis seem to have discipline of Northern Europeans

In which part of north Pakistan can this north European discipline be observed?

Same difference. The point is elderly people produce less litter. Pak's youth has to take more responsibility to keep the country clean.
