Why is Shadab Khan batting below Sohail Tanvir?

Just because he is a good bowler doesn't mean that you should be oblivious to his batting potential .
Let us be real he probably has more potential than some genuine batsmen in the country and here he is betting below the likes of Tanvir .

He should bat no below than 6.

Probably the management dont know much about his battig. Will soon be there.

Are you really suggesting an 18 year old bat in front of Sobers?!?!? :danish

What is the world coming to.

Shadab should bat higher than Imad but i thought that wont happen because of seniority. Didnt know Even Tanvir will beat him to it.

makes my blood boil to see this old and useless player Sohail Tanvir. If we lose this match it would be because of his rubbish bowling and batting. Get Shinwari or Ruman in his place.

Tanvir is one of the most selfish modern day cricketers

He forces this on every team he plays for, he tries to kill his competition because he is that insecure. He did with the Rams, and he has done it many times for Pakistan

FOr anyone who thinks of defending this man, I ask you, can you even remember the last time Tanvir won the game for Pakistan witht he bowl let alone Bat.

THis man refused singles so he could win via glory shot and lost us a game to the bowling of GLEN MAXWELL

He needs to go off and never play for Pakistan again. I refuse to belive a guy who cant bat, cant field and get less than a wicket a game, is someone critical to our fortunes

Experience.

However, I think the gap between skill is so much that Tanvir's experience shouldn't matter.

Shadab is a miles better batsman from a technical sense.

I think, it's because of lack of trust to young players. What I have seen in last few years, above anything PAK think tank values experience more. Obviously someone starting career 10 years earlier is more experienced than a young player. In recent times, I have heard several times from reputed PAK former players like this -
Saqline : Younis should be there (in WC), because of his experience, because when a senior experienced player stands, he wins it (uo chaa jatey hai)

Shoaib : Hafeez is out of form with bat, but he has lots of experience to serve as a bowler - should be there (that's after this PSL).

X (forgot name) (May be Basit or Latif): Ajmal should be taken to WC. He has enough experience - it was just about passing his bowling action, which he had done - don't think he needs to prove it in domestics

X : Babar ko Lena chahiye (in UK tour); he is sr. pro with lots of experience. In England, experience comes handy ...

... I can go on, but don't want to mis quote anyone.

This is actually across all ranks (shouldn't blame Misbah only). Shahriar wants to keep Misbah as captain because he doesn't have enough experience to replace Misbah the Captain, for a side whose average age is well above 30.

Inzi thinks of calling back few experienced players for CT.

PSL teams' average age was close to 30 (despite couple of forced U19 players), for a youngman's game.

I am certain Babar won't have batted at 3 if Arthur wasn't there. And, Shadab can be as good as anyone with bat, still the first thought is - this kid will shake in fear without experience.

Tanvir is a joke of a batter.

There should be no reason at all why he has to bat below these guys, pathetic stuff which hopefully should rectify itself after he has more matches to get his status up.

I am hopeful with Arthur at the helm. He will definitely play him up soon.

Why is Tanvir even playing, period, should be the question being asked?

What I really wanna know is how did Sarfraz and Mickey Arthur allowed TurkeyMan to come out before 'Anyone', even Wahab is way better than him?

This is what's happening under Sarfraz.

And the friends list hasn't been added yet! :najam

I am probably in the minority but I can see the logic behind batting Shadab lower than Tanvir. Shadab is quite clearly a more gifted batsman than Tanvir and Imad but he is only 18. There's no point in putting him under extra pressure. He gets into the team as a bowler and he has been brilliant in that discipline. No need to ask too much of him too soon.

There was sense in batting him lower than Tanvir because you protect him. It doesn't mean Sarfraz and Arthur don't rate his batting.

Once he starts performing, he will get promoted in batting order. it is Only a matter of time... but the important question is. Will Shahdab play in the ODi side? ODi series which is starting immediately after the T20s. I mean you can't send back your best in-form bowler back home... ???

I also agree.. but his power shots looks weaker than sohail tanvir. this may be the reason too

Yeah but what sort of performance is expected of him at number 9 ??
He is more than a tail end slogger . Something tanvir and the others can do .
Shadab can bat properly . I hope the management realise his batting potential.

I think eventually I see Shadab batting at number 6 and sometimes even higher in ODIs and T20Is.

Because Sohail Tanvir almost won us the World T20 in 2007 with his batting in the final , I will never forget the chukkah he hit; got a bit unlucky though, were he to have remained at the crease we'd have won Red Devil

He was 29-30 then - at his prime. Also, almost unknown then, so Indian's tried to cramp him on his leg line :(

Now, he is 40 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shadab can only dream of hitting a six as big and as glorious as that one. It was the perfect blend of brute strength and delightful timing to go with the precision of a true master. I don't think I've seen anybody else hit a six like that ever. :sohail

I second that, which is why it has been engraved in my mind and even after 10 years I can recall that moment so vividly, surely more iconic then the chukkah which miandad hit off the final ball

Because Tanvir has all the right tools and is the best all-rounder in Pakistan. Just sums up the sad state of our cricket. Tanvir is the worst ever to play for us. Don't know how he keeps getting selected.

Why is shadab batting below fakhar zaman ??
Micky and the management are kinda dumb for the lack of a better word.
Cant believe we have such poor talent spotters at important positions.

Does Mickey get no say in these decisions? I refuse to believe he is thick enough to want Tanvir over Shadab.

The only reason i can think of is that on these pitches you need more muscle to hit the ball over the fence which management thinks tanvir has. Pathetic to see him bat over shadab who can atleast run twos when nothing else is happening.
