It seems everyone has loads of free time at home due to coronavirus and
all the ex-pakistani players are lobbing hand grenades at each other.
Everyone is making youtube videos to accuse each other or fighting on twitter.

Why these ex players are so bitter ? Don't see this kind of bitterness in other countries. Offcourse there are a few in other countries but Pakistan seems to be world leading in this aspect.
Lack of opportunities to commentate/make money??
I am sure some of the Indian counterparts are also bitter but they don't want to speak much to lose money making opportunities.

PCB needs to organize some cricket fast! Maybe even a domestic tournament so these guys can focus on cricket rather than run their mouth and air dirty laundry

Because that's our tradition - cooking up conspiracy theories.

They are bitter and jealous because at one time they may have been dropped for another player. So, they take out all their hate on the player who either replaced him or was responsible for the drop.

E.g. Mo Yousuf.

Others are also certified conspiracy theorists and have a screw loose, e.g. Basit, Nawaz and Amir.

1. Maybe they feel they could have done better in their career if not for some one's fault.

2. Maybe they aren't making as much money now as they would like to.

Unfortunately thats what happens when uneducated fools get stardom too quickly They just dont know how to behave

You tend to find that those that are in favour with PCB and making money out of them will stay quiet and will be content.

As soon as some former players are removed from their roles, their former employers, the PCB, suddenly become villains and the worst organisation in the world.

Basit Ali is a prime example of this.

Mohsin Khan, Aqib Javed, Sarfaraz Nawaz are other examples which spring to mind. Even Amir Sohail behaves like all is forgotten whenever he was captain of the Pakistan team, chief selector, head of game development at the NCA and only brings up the past whenever he is no longer in the PCB

Pakistani people are bitter. Especially when something doesn’t go our way. I have seen it in cricket, in politics, in families it’s a sad reality.

Akhtar is to blame here.. he has given a blueprint to these money hungry and attention seeking guys to say anything for views.. they have become clowns on hire for entertainment.. my relatives, especially uncles in India love these masala videos and on the opposite side in Pakistan lot of hate for these guys naming and shaming there countrymen.
I am in between there discussions wondering what to make out of it.

The answer is of one word Illiteracy .

Money.

All boils down to money.

Once these ex-crciketers hang up their boots there are very limited options for how they can generate a steady income.

Fact is - very few of them are capable enough to secure a contract with a reputable sport channel (e.g. Sky Sports, ABC Radio, BBC Radio etc.) to report as a professional commentator on a regular basis (e.g. Michael Holding, Nasser Hussain, Keppler Wessels, Danny Morrison etc).

Coaching opportunities are extremely limited and not really financially appealing.

I reckon 95%+ do not have any sort of education to fall back on.

Meanwhile, controversy creates cash and our pathetic media outlets are unfortunately a sucker for click-bait news articles.

The ex-cricketers can keep running their mouth in a desperate attempt to keep themselves relevant whilst generating an income, meanwhile our rubbish media outlets will keep giving them air time and selling papers/subscribers over trashy content.

The ex-cricketers as well as the media outlets are too short sighted to realise that they are damaging Pakistani cricket irreversibly and making a mockery out of the industry which made them and keeps them employed.

Don't get me wrong - if any of these has-beens have any solid evidence to back up their claims then please step up and present it. Otherwise, if they cannot do anything to help Pakistani cricket, please disappear into insignificance.

lack of education.
in other countries, you complete your education, which means that when you retire, you have the skills to do something, because of your education. Also, you wisely use your money during professional life.

Shaoib Akhter is a prime example. has no education is not qualified to hold any job, cant even do an expert analysis. Hence all that is left for him is do pander to a certain community for the sweet sweet youtube money.

These guys whining, if PCB gave them a job today, they would accept it, sit on the same terrible tv shows and praise PCB.

Maybe the PCB need to work closely with Mcdonalds in PK and get these guys to flip burgers when they retire. That way they can at lest earn a halal living. I can imagine Amir Sohail being really good on the Fry station

Indian ex-cricketers don't express their bitterness(except for gambhir) because BCCI provides them pension. That's why they have every ex-cricketer by the leash

Still remember how they straight up banned players taking part in ICL(even though the ban was lifted after few years).Cricketers like Rayudu even lost some of their cricketing years due to that

Indian players are well fed and dont want to cause ripples which could endanger their incomes. Simple as that.

It's probably because the likes of Mushtaq ahmed and azhar mahmood who spent all their life polishing their coaching certificates and training in the UK as well as muhammad akram are given jobs ahead of the likes of shoaib akhtar and Mohammed yousuf who were much better cricketers

They all feel they are entitled to have a position in PCB and its the PCB management which is not giving them their birth right.

At the same time the way PCB officials and executive operate and they way their salary packages, benefits, travelling allowances etc. are you cant blame some of the ex cricketers to want to be part of that but they are taking the wrong route.

Even other than CEO and MD some of the board members are getting as much or rather more benefits than some of the executives of other companies and organizations.

PCB at the top level is a gold mine for which people use all sorts of connections, resources to become part of and if they are already part of then to make sure they remain there. There is a reason that in past governments some of the most favorite people of the rulers were given the position of chairman PCB.

Coming back to ex players I think being bitter isnt gonna get ex players anything, the best chance is to work on their attitudes and have composed personalities rather than sudden emotional outbursts. Some of the Ex greats are only out of PCB because of their outspoken bitter attitude.

Because at heart most of these were and remain paendooo.

Pakistan unearthed talent from the streets in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

On the positive side of it, Pakistan gave cricket world unique talent in that era.

On the negative side of it, these mostly paendooo people were always going to be an embarrassment once they started opening mouth.

Best thing to do would have been to go with the Curtly Talk to No Man strategy. When you can't talk good, just stay quiet.

Moderators and Pakistanis fans reading my words, please don't feel offended. In India also as the memories of the educated class of the 1990s fade and more of these Sehwag. Harbhajan Singh level Paendoos start talking, we are also starting to feel the embarrassment.

The revolution that happened in Pakistan in 1990s happened in India in 2000s, our own class of paindooos is ready to appear on TV channels and commentary boxes.

I remember growing up, we had not won a world cup since 1983 and as a a reason everyone who played in 1983 world cupm was a celebrity and appeared on TV. Even the lesser players like Kirmani, Madan Lal etc were regular analysts. That era and those guys had class. They spoke with remarkable professionalism and did not talk about their grudges.

As India started winning some trophies from 2007 onwards, one by one the class of 1983 also started disappearing from TV channels. By 2020, only a s elect few legends from that team remain prominent figures on TV.

Gambhir too freelance_cricketer. Respected him a lot as a cricketer but not much in his post-cricketing life. The way he tweeted about Dhoni a few weeks ago asking for recognition for his own hundred was too self-serving and egotistical for my liking.

I have realized what a terrible kind of person Younis Khan is.

I was watching ary where they talked about Asif Ali. And Younis Khan and Tanvir Ahmed were dishing out bad stuff about Misbah, even though Misbah was in the same building but in the studio of A sports, while these two buffoons sat in the ary studio.

Waseem Badami showed a clip where Asif Ali said that he has started asking the coaches to give him training where he is in a situation where he has to bat in the last couple of covers compared to in the past where he used to do full batting session in net.

To this, Younis Khan saab goes on to say, Asif Ali was bought in by Misbah, so for him he was a father figure. Asif Ali probably couldn't say no to Misbah about wanting to do his own training and he had to do long training. Coaches changed so now he is doing different batting training and we won.

Than Waseem Badami showed a clip where Asif praised Misbah. Younis goes on to say that look at asifs eyes, they were down, this means that what he said he did not meant that. He was forced to praise Misbah. Misbah used to train these people too much even for a t20 game Misbah use to make them train for 8 hours, which i even asked the team management to stop.

Tanvir Ahmed kept on bashing Misbah and he said that as in Islamabad and Pakistan currently there is a different coach, that is why Asif Ali performs. One of the members at ary corrected Tanveer Ahmed saying that Misbah was also Islamabad's coach when Asif performed, to that Tanveer was embarrassed and tried to talk about something else.

Than when Waseem Badami said how can you say all that when Asif praised Misbah, Tanveer Ahmad said that Asif had to say that because he didnt want to be embarrassed when he meets Misbah in Faisalabad in future.

Interestingly Misbah is retired, he doesnt play for any cities, plus he lives in Lahore and belongs from Mianwali, not Faisalabad.

Than lastly, Tanveer Ahmad said that our players need to be mature and grow up, they should not be mentioning other players name in the press conference. Than Younis Khan goes on that when I was batting coach I used to tell players going in the press box to not take or mention anyones name. Dont praise anyone.

Have to say, Tanveer Ahmad and Younis Khan are two very toxic individuals. Younis Khan was probably made batting coach on Misbah's recommendation but the guy is a pathetic individual and no wonder why players revolted against him.

Basically, Younis Khan was jealous that why Asif Ali mentioned Misbah and Tanveer Ahmad aswell was bothered that the coach they loved criticizing ended up being praised by the star performer.

Not surprising at all. Younis Khan is an unstable and immature character. For all his greatness as a batsman, there isn’t something right upstairs.

Embarrassing stuff this. How can they be so bitter and toxic about their co-players? Both played under Misbah, personal liking or disliking is fine, but one should remember they are on national TV and everyone is listening to them.

Whosoever has ever played for Pakistan need serious media communication training.

This is why Younis and Tanveer are guests at masala cricket show and Wahab and Misbah at proper sports channel.

From what I have been able to deduce some of our ex-cricketers are just bad human beings. I mean many of these people are the same guys who were politicking, yanking each others legs and being generally toxic people in the dressing room decades ago.

And when I see them on TV, its like they have completely forgotten that they used to be players too once upon a time. And were subject to the same unneeded criticism they put on our current players.

Khair, I don't want to group them all into one generalized group. When I watch The Pavilion on A Sports I don't get this feeling. Because Wahab, Wasim, Waqar and Misbah offer good insight and don't attack players unnecessarily as Sikander Bakht or some of the others do. Nor are they bitter.

Younis Khan is known to have mental issues like an extremist mentality. He resigned from captaincy and posts given to him by PCB, almost always on basis of some argument or fight. Players revolted against him. He is also a self-loving individual. Terrific test batsmen but a horrible person.

Tanvir is a media clown who is used by channels for masala cricket comedy shows. You will not find him on any serious cricket talk show. It's funny how quickly he takes U-turns too ... he was foaming from his mouth for Tabish selection for a year, getting all emotional about it and when Tabish came and failed, Tanvir took the route of reading the scorecard of the same match in a commentator like monotonous voice to save embarrassment. He never mentioned Tabish again. Whoever he opposes, starts performing and he starts sounding bitter about it e.g. Rizwan, Faheem, Asif Ali, Iftikhar ... those who he backs, fail and he takes the monotonous score card reading route. Not a very bright person.

This makes for a very disappointing read.

They say never meet your heroes. I guess they should modify the line to: never see them on TV either.

Misbah is someone who Younis played so much cricket with. They were the nucleus of Pakistan's test batting for 6 years. And after that they worked together as coaches too. And l agree that Younis likely got the coaching gig on Misbah's recommendation too. To say something like this about Misbah, of all people is quite a classless thing for Younis to do.

Tanvir is a caricature and I have never taken him seriously. But for Younis to say this is thoroughly disappointing.

Misbah has always mentioned Younis' name with a lot of respect. I think Younis should avoid these types of statements.

They have played a lot together post 2010. He should act as a mature person now.

Misbah, despite his problems as a coach and selector, is one of the most down-to-earth players throughout our cricketing history.

I haven't ever seem him in controversy, never makes baseless accusations against others, and keeps himself away from the media problems.

Younis Khan is quite clearly an issue in the cricketing system. Rather than using all his experience to help youngsters, he wastes his time by bashing others on air.

This whole lot: Younis Khan, Shoaib Akhtar, etc. make all these claims but will never do anything to help the team grow and develop.

They're attention-oriented people, will make statements like "I can make our team the #1 batting lineup" and then instead of trying to help the cricketing system, they'll resort to bashing ex-players and quite literally squandering their own image in front of the world.

As a head coach and chief selector, I was not with Misbah, but knowing his contributions to Pakistan cricket, and how he took the team out of our darkest time without a speck of controversy, I think he deserves a lot more respect from many people than he gets.

Like I said, keep your criticism valid towards performances, don't try and push dirt on another person because of who they are.

If Asif Ali praised Misbah, there's a reason for that. On A Sports HD (frankly enjoying watching it for now), Waqar/Wasim/Fakhar/Wahab all praised Misbah for finding Asif Ali in the first or second PSL, and back then he said that Asif could be a finisher.

That is backing a player and having an understanding. I've lost a lot of respect for Younis Khan.

I saw the Wasim Badani programme and there was nothing Younis said against Misbah, if anything he was complimentary about Misbah introducing Asif Ali and looking after him like a father, but he went onto say that normally with someone like your father you cannot always express your desires openly due to the respect, Asif Ali is saying that he asked current coaching staff to let him train differently, not just standard net session but hitting out like in a match. I have seen some fans unnecessary malign Pak cricket stars for no reason, especially likes of Waqar, who has almost always been straight forward in the his statements. I remember people were falsely accusing Younis taking credit for Butler batting when he was actually saying he has nothing to do with it before the Pakistan Test match he won for England.
Tanvir, Shoaib Akhtar, Aqib Javaid, Sarfraz NawazMohd Yousuf, Sikander Bakht, Javiad Niandadon other hand can be criticised for being bitter and unnessary controversial often.

And add to that Younis saying that they were made to train for very long time, is not being bitter but that is his opinion that it does not always help.

I would ban Tanveer from my TV channel if I had a TV channel.

The guy was easily one of the most average cricketers to have represented Pakistan. He speaks like as if he knows it all. Speaks very dirty I must say.

I say replace Tanveer with Yasir Hameed.

I would bear Younus Khan due to his test legendary status.

They all miss being at the top and in the limelight. They have not moved on to other roles in their life really well.

Major I saw the videos you sent again and still cannot see where Younis Khan is being bitter or said anything wrong. He simply mentioned apart extra hard training regime under Misbah, which probably was right. It was Tanvir Tring to put blame on Misbah for holding back Asif, and Younis was just spicing him up for laughter. Younis has many faults and is bit screw head like Afridi but here we cannot fault him.

I don’t know how many of you here would agree with me here:
I have been watching the Pavilion on ten sports, and even though Misbah/Waqar recently resigned (before they got dismissed) I hear mostly positive stuff from them and Wasim and Wahab. Maybe it’s the nature of the show, it is hard for me to say but all four of them are mostly fairly level headed, do not sound overly bitter and have constructive criticism of the system/players.

But then you turn to some other shows and you see former players who are very very petty and bitter.
So like I said I am not sure whether it’s due to the nature of the show or the actual people but I have to admit Younis Khan is turning out to be a big cry baby like most of his critics have always complained about. I always defended him but seems like his critics were right all along.

Rewatch it again i guess. If you still cant find it than i guess you cant take criticism on younis khan..

He clearly sais that asif ali turn his eyes downwards when answering the questions which indicates (according to younis khans own logic), that asif was forced to do tareef of misbah and what he said from his mouth did not meant it in actual....

The father son logic he gabe was also dumb, hafeez has said this many times that under the misbah waqar managment players were allowed to choose the trainings they wanted...

The bitterness is a bit surprising.

If they can work together, it can be beneficial.

Yeah it was very strange from him.

Usually our former players on TV shows at least tend to be very mature and amenable. I listen to Wasim, Waqar, Shoaib, Saqi, Misbah, Wahab (who by the way is surprisingly very mature and astute with his analysis of the game) and they all sound positive and supportive of everything and everyone associated with the team.

I'm no big fan of Younis or anyone for that matter, whoever does well for the country and is not a vile person I am their fan. You may disagree with father son thing but he was right about that, sometimes you cannot express your true wishes to your father. Asif probably felt a little shy to express his wishes or tell Misbah his way of coaching is not what he needs ashefwlt obliged to him. I agree the looking down by Asif Ali comment was uncalled for, but it hardly shows he is bitter, but showing off that he himself dares to speak his mind and most others do not. The real culprit here is Tanvir who started all these controversies in the shows and Younis was trying to be funny by adding to flame

This reminds of a scenario a few years ago where I interviewed a former Pakistan player.

He criticised the PCB, the Chairman, the selectors, the players and anyone else involved in Pakistan cricket.

A few days later he was given a role by PCB and he phoned me up and said I want to do another interview - this time he was full of compliments for all of the people he had criticised a few days earlier.

I didn't publish either interview :)

They all want a job with the PCB. Most ex Pak players struggle to move on after their career's are over. They lack the qualifications to form a career outside Cricket hence the anger and bitterness. Much like our fans here all they can do it criticise when their favourites are not in the team

Few reasons for bitterness :

1) No punishment to orchestrators of fixing scandals by Justice Qayyum, even though they were proved to be guilty on many counts
2) These fixers , were very powerful during their captaincy; and threw few honest (yet not so great cricketers) under the bus. Thus curtailing their careers
3) Members of these fixer groups support each other; and they have a big say in all PCB maters behind the scene
4) Some ex players who were not great ; are being criticized poorly by these con men of not playing enough cricket or being not good enough
5) some who were great and did not involve in match fixing are stars in media channels and given a job to lambast everything in Pakistan cricket
