Its been more than a year now but the government and some non political groups keep on harping the violence of 9th may but when it comes to form a judicial or fact finding commission on it they readily back down and change the topic.

So why so much hesitation when you have nothing to hide and you are on the right side of history? Lets make thorough investigations and freed those unscrupulously involved.

We know that Naqvi and others that planned this at the behest of establishment a would get exposed for the sazish. My Question to @FearlessRoar is what happened to the CCTV. And another basic question is who made the decision to withdraw the Lahore Commanders security.

because pindora box will get open and will become difficult to hide their drama to keep Imran Khan away from the Pakistan politics.

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has approached the Peshawar High Court (PHC) filed a petition for a judicial inquiry into the May 9 incidents requesting the Chief Justice of the PHC to form a judicial commission

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Law Minister Aftab Alam has said that he has sent a letter to the Chief Justice of PHC for a judicial commission.

Aftab Alam said that the CJ will announce the names for the Peshawar High Court (PHC) Commission and the head of the Judicial Commission will be the judge of the PHC.

It should be remembered that on June 27, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government approved the establishment of a judicial commission to investigate the May 9 incidents.

The approval of the commission was given in the provincial cabinet meeting.

According to the decision of the provincial cabinet, the commission will be entrusted with the responsibility of conducting a full investigation of May 9, after the investigation, all the characters involved in the events of May 9, 2023 will be exposed.

On May 9, 2023, after the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan from the premises of Islamabad High Court in the Al-Qadir Trust case, a nationwide protest was held by the PTI, during which military, civil and private installations were set on fire and severe damage occurred to public and private properties.

PTI to expose culprits of May 9 riots after coming into power, says Barrister Saif

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Advisor for Information Barrister Dr. Saif berated the PML-N led incumbent government saying it had nothing to do to stay in limelight except discussing May 9 and PTI founder Imran Khan.

The PTI leader gave a response to Ahsan Iqbal's statements that Imran Khan had to repent for May 9 riots and wouldn’t be granted NRO.

Barrister Saif responded that the fake government must resign and seek apology from PTI for the May 9 fiasco, they discussed May 9 when they didn't find any space in the media.

KP information advisor boasted that the public gave a response on May 9 by giving a mandate to PTI on February 8 with trust.

All PML-N leaders including Ahsan Iqbal had no credibility, sitting in the parliament with the support of Form-47 and election commissioner.

He informed that Imran Khan had stressed for judicial commission on the May 9 incident many times but they hadn’t made yet as a guilty conscience needed no accuser.

He added that the judicial inquiry would reveal what were the real motives behind May 9 riots.

Barrister Saif accused the political opponents for staging May 9 to eliminate PTI but they couldn’t succeed in their nefarious aims instead PTI strengthened more.

The PTI leader insisted on exposing the perpetrators behind the May 9 riots after coming into power.

In my view, there are only two reasons for the government's hesitation:

1. The fear of sparking unrest in the country
2. A lack of political will, potentially driven by external pressures.

I don't deny that this may be a complete conspiracy. It was surprising that no one was guarding the commander's house when the charged workers reached there.

Only surprising? You have the top General in Lahore not having security and you think it may be a conspiracy. Lol

I think no one was living in Jinnah house
I think there was and establishment wanted him murdered. This way they kill 2 birds with one stone- ban the PTI and lock up IK for life and get the commander murdered because the establishment saw him as a threat.

May 9 for democracy’: In fiery NA speech, PTI’s Ali Muhammad Khan blasts govt for arresting party leaders

Heated arguments and exchange of accusations between government and opposition lawmakers were seen in the National Assembly on Tuesday following the arrest of PTI MNAs last night from from Islamabad, including the parliament premises.

On Monday night, a day after the PTI held its Sangjani power show, law enforcement agencies swooped in on the party’s top leadership, whisking away at least three key members from different parts of Islamabad, while forcing others to take shelter in the Parliament House.

In a fiery speech on the floor of the lower house today, PTI’s Ali Muhammad Khan, who appeared emotionally charged, lambasted the arrests of his fellow party leaders.

“Today, I am making a case on democracy,” he said. “Last night, what happened to democracy and to this parliament. We are not in Israel, we are in Pakistan.”

Addressing NA speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Khan said: “Your colleagues Sahibzada [Hamid Raza], Shafqat [Awan], Amir Dogar, Shiekh Waqar [Akram] and Maulana Naseem were seeking shelter in this parliament last night [when they were arrested]. Maulana Naseem was picked up from a mosque.

PM blames PTI for damaging Pak-China ties, calls May 9 incident ‘unforgivable sin’

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has accused the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government of sabotaging Pakistan-China relations and halting the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He also termed the May 9 incident an "unforgivable sin."

Speaking at a press conference in London on Saturday, Sharif highlighted the dire state of Pakistan's economy when his government took charge, asserting that the country was on the verge of default. He credited Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir for his crucial efforts in securing a deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Sharif also demanded an immediate ceasefire in Palestine, condemning the “inhumane atrocities” being committed in Gaza. “As prime minister, I have raised Pakistan’s voice on the global stage,” he said referring to his speech at UN General Assembly last night.

Criticising his predecessors, the prime minister said, “The last government destroyed Pak-China relations and completely halted CPEC.” He added that the economic and diplomatic ties between the two nations are now being restored.

Addressing corruption allegations against him and his son, Shehbaz Sharif stated, “We were accused of corruption, but the British National Crime Agency (NCA) cleared us of all charges.”

May 9 mayhem: Govt presents solid evidence of attack on military installations

The incumbent government revealed on Saturday the solid evidence pertaining to the attack on the military installations during the May 9 vandalism that transpired last year.

Expressing his thoughts during the press conference, Information Minister Atta Tarar said, “The defense and military installations had been attacked like khawarij. Tarar had issued the CCTV footage.

“Murad Saeed, among the leaders, had issued the instructions to the PTI workers to reach the targeted destination. They had the plan to spread bloodshed.”

He said, “The PTI founder and the rest of the party leadership should offer the apology to the nation on the evidence.”

“We are having the demand of wrapping up the cases pertaining to the May 9 vandalism. The masses are now aware of the evidence,” he added.

Tarar took a jibe at the PTI, questioning, “Was there a ghost closed in the bottle responsible for the May 9 riots?”

“The PTI leadership had given the workers’ instructions to indulge in the vandalism by reaching the particular target,” said Tarar.

The minister maintained, “The PTI bigwigs were involved behind the May 9 mayhem.”

He said, “The events that transpired on May 9 happened through the proper planning.”

Military Courts cannot sentence civilians', PTI announces to challenge the verdict

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has rejected the sentences handed down by military courts to civilians as Party leader Omar Ayub stated that military courts have no jurisdiction to try or sentence civilians.

In a tweet, Omar Ayub condemned the military court verdicts against PTI detainees, terming them a violation of justice.

The leader of the opposition in the National Assembly emphasized that the detainees are ordinary citizens who cannot be tried in military courts, describing such courts sentencing civilians as "kangaroo courts" and arguing that they undermine the principles of justice.

“Military courts are not legitimate judicial partners of the state’s judicial power. Armed forces are part of the state's administrative apparatus, not the judiciary,” Ayub said.

He added that the establishment of such courts violates judicial independence and the constitutional principle of separation of powers, undermining the foundational features of the Constitution.

Meanwhile, Former Speaker of the National Assembly and PTI leader Asad Qaiser also denounced the military courts' decisions, calling them a breach of fundamental human rights.

“These trials have failed to meet the standards of justice,” Qaiser remarked while expressing his disappointment with the Supreme Court’s stance on the matter, vowing to continue the struggle for justice.

“Citizens have been deprived of their basic rights. When courts are compromised, public trust erodes, leading to widespread despair. The current judicial system is paralyzed, which is a tragedy for the country,” he added.

Qaiser reaffirmed PTI's commitment to challenging the military courts’ verdicts and seeking justice through peaceful and legal means.

Earlier today, Military courts have sentenced 25 civilians to prison terms ranging from two to 10 years for their role in violent attacks on military installations during nationwide riots in May 2023.

According to the military's media wing(ISPR), the Field General Court Martial has sentenced 25 individuals in the first phase, following a thorough review of evidence and the completion of proper legal procedures.

"The convicted individuals, involved in attacks on key military sites including Jinnah House, the General Headquarters (GHQ), and Pakistan Air Force Base Mianwali, were sentenced to rigorous imprisonment, with 14 receiving 10-year terms and others shorter sentences," the statement said.

In describing the significance of the verdicts, the ISPR referred to the sentences as an “important milestone” in delivering justice to the nation. “It is also a stark reminder to all those who are exploited by the vested interests and fall prey to their political propaganda and intoxicating lies, to never take law in their own hands ever in the future,” the statement concluded.

Barrister Gohar gives govt 7-day ultimatum for judicial commission

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar gave 7-day ultimatum to the government to form judicial commission on May 9 incidents.

“We’ll not hold the fourth meeting with the government negotiating team if there is no judicial commission in next seven days,” said the PTI chairman.

Talking to media outside the Adiala Jail on Monday, Gohar said that PTI is adamant on its earlier demands.

He said that PTI really wants to continue negotiations with the government.

Speaking on the occasion, PTI chairman urged PML-N’s Senator Irfan Siddiqui not to disrupt the political dialogue between the government and opposition.

Earlier, Senator Irfan Siddiqui had said that backdoor talks and open dialogue can’t go side by side.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the spokesperson for the government’s negotiation committee said that he is very well aware of details of meeting between PTI’s Barrister Gohar and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir.

He said that both Imran Khan and Aleema Khan have termed the ‘backdoor’ talks with army chief satisfactory.

He urged the PTI to ask its negotiating team to quit the dialogue if their talks are satisfactory with the military leadership.

The PML-N leader said that the PTI was desperately trying to meet the COAS.

Govt yet to decide on formation of judicial commission: Irfan Siddiqui

Senator Irfan Siddiqui, spokesperson for the government’s negotiation committee, has confirmed that no decision has been made regarding the formation of a judicial commission to investigate the events of May 9 and November 26.

Siddiqui made the remarks on Tuesday while speaking to the media after the first round of discussions convened to review Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) demands. The meeting, chaired by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, was held in the Speaker’s Chamber.

The session was attended by a host of political heavyweights, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar, Aleem Khan, Salik Hussain, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Rana Sanaullah, Dr Farooq Sattar, Ejaz ul Haq, and Khalid Magsi.

During the discussions, Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar provided a detailed briefing on each point of the opposition’s charter of demands.

Siddiqui noted that representatives from all seven parties in the committee engaged in comprehensive discussions but clarified that the legal committee had yet to form a conclusive opinion on PTI’s proposals.

The senator announced that deliberations would continue in another session scheduled for Wednesday. He further assured that the fourth round of negotiations would take place after seven working days, in line with the planned timetable.

PTI’s stance

PTI has maintained a firm position, demanding the formation of a judicial commission as a precondition for continued talks.

Addressing the media outside Adiala Jail on Monday, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan reiterated the party's stance.

“PTI is willing to continue talks with the government, but forming a judicial commission is a key condition,” he said.

Gohar emphasised that without progress on this demand, there was little point in further dialogue. He appealed for patience and mutual understanding, saying, “Successful negotiations mean a successful Pakistan.”

As both sides prepare for further discussions, the spotlight remains on whether the government will meet PTI's demand for a judicial commission. With tensions running high, the outcome of these negotiations could have significant implications for the country’s political landscape.

No judicial commission, no more talks: Sahibzada Hamid Raza

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - PTI's negotiation committee spokesperson, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, stated that the party would not participate in the fourth round of talks without a formal announcement regarding the establishment of a judicial commission to probe May 9 incidents.

Raza urged the government to formally declare its willingness to establish the judicial commission. “Once the commission is announced, we can hold another meeting to discuss its Terms of Reference (ToRs),” he said.

He further underlined that if the demand is not met, PTI will refrain from participating in the fourth round of negotiations.

Meanwhile, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan also linked the fourth round of negotiations to the formation of the judicial commission. He stated, “We are bound by the PTI leader’s directives that no negotiations should proceed without the establishment of the judicial commission.”

Meanwhile, PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui said a written response would be given to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Jan 28.

Talking to the media in the federal capital, PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui said that a decision had not yet been reached on the formation of a judicial commission on the demand of PTI.

He said that a detailed legal opinion has also been sought on the demands of the opposition and a written response would be given on the written demands of PTI on January 28.

Govt was deliberating on committee instead of judicial commission, says Tarar

ISLAMABAD: Following the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) decision to quit ongoing talks, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar asserted that the government was deliberating on the formation of a committee instead of a judicial commission in light of the former ruling party's demand.

"It is not necessary to constitute a commission...we were deliberating on a middle ground to take things forward," the minister said while speaking on Geo News programme 'Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath'.

Earlier in the day, incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan "called off" negotiations with the government due to its failure to establish a judicial commission within seven days.

Speaking to the media outside Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that Khan expressed his frustration over the delay, saying that the government's failure to act for the formation of a judicial commission leaves no reason to continue the talks.

"The founder of PTI has categorically announced that no further rounds of negotiations will take place," Gohar said. "The government made announcements but has yet to follow through, which is why Imran Khan decided to end the negotiations."

Negotiations between the PML-N-led government and PTI began in late December to ease political tensions. However, weeks of talks — with three sessions taking place so far — have made little or no progress on key matters.

The Khan-founded party, in its written charter of demands presented to the government during the third session on January 16, had demanded the formation of two judicial commissions — mutually nominated by the PTI and the government within seven days — and the release of "political prisoners".

The former ruling party's demands of two judicial commissions pertained to an inquiry into the May 9, 2023 riots as well the November 26 crackdown on the PTI supporters in Islamabad last year.

Speaking during today's programme, Tarar said that the PTI's decision to quit talks was based on "malicious intent and made in haste".

"Our response to PTI's demands was to come," he said, adding that "extensive discussions" were held regarding the charter of demands.

Castigating the former ruling party, the minister said that they should have found "a legitimate excuse" to prove they had been victimised. "PTI was bound to wait for the government's reply till the deadline, now the onus is on the party," he added.

SC directs completion of May 9 events trial within four months

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Supreme Court heard appeals for the cancellation of bails granted to suspects involved in the May 9 incidents.

Concluding the proceedings, the court disposed of the Punjab government's appeals with a directive to complete all related trials within four months.

During the hearing, lawyer Sameer Khosa noted that in one case involving Khadija Shah, the court had issued similar orders. He added that Shah is facing three additional cases.

Chief Justice of Pakistan remarked that all legal rights of the accused, including Khadija Shah, will be ensured. He assured that the court’s written order would include clarity on this matter.

Khosa also pointed out that although statements of several witnesses have been recorded, copies of the formal charges have yet to be provided. He urged that the independence of trial courts must be upheld. He also mentioned that an ATC judge from Sargodha had written to the High Court about these issues.

The Chief Justice responded by stating that concerns regarding ATC independence have already been addressed in a previous ruling and emphasised that all accused will be provided with charge sheets and necessary documents.

Govt says Punjab Assembly opposition leader’s 10-year sentence in May 9 riots case according to law

The federal government on Tuesday welcomed a Sargodha Anti-Terrorism Court’s (ATC) sentencing of Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly (PA) Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar to 10 years in prison over a case related to the nationwide riots on May 9, 2023, hailing it as a positive step.

On May 9, 2023, military installations and state-owned buildings were vandalised as PTI supporters protested the arrest of ex-premier Imran Khan — who was released later but has been imprisoned in various cases since August 2023. Following the riots, thousands of protesters, including the party’s top leadership, were arrested.

Addressing a press conference today in Islamabad, Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik said: “Today, the Sargodha ATC issued an order and we welcome it … I think it is a very positive step as justice has been upheld.”

He said the verdict “fulfils all requirements of justice” and followed due process since the entire trial proceedings were carried out legally. “The decision announced is in accordance with the law and the Constitution,” Malik said.

The state minister said Bhachar, PTI MNA Ahmed Chattha and former MNA Bilal Ejaz were sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment each in a case related to the riots.

“When you take the law into your own hand, whether you’re an MNA or MPA or opposition leader … the [status] doesn’t matter, as the law is equal for everyone and will come into force.”

Malik hoped that other May 9-related cases would be decided soon as well.

Assailing the PTI, he alleged that the riots were “carefully curated” via “planning” to precisely attack over 200 locations.

Meanwhile, Bachar said in a post on X that he would not abandon his support of Imran.

PTI MNA Asad Qaiser condemned the sentences, alleging that “neither was any transparent or legal procedure followed in the case, nor was any credible witness presented. The demands of justice were grossly violated.”

He said in a post on X that the party would challenge the “biased decision” in the high court.

Terming the decision “outright injustice”, the party’s South Punjab wing said, “The truth is that the establishment’s role in this entire process is evident to all, and nothing called justice remains.

“These punishments are not only vengeful actions but also an insult to the country’s democracy, judiciary, and people, and now the people will no longer stay silent!” the statement read.

PTI MNA and lawyer Shafqat Awan also condemned the decision. “I have never seen a more horrific and brutal decision than the one given by the Sargodha ATC judge,” he told reporters.

Punjab Assembly PTI MPAs restored

Today’s conviction follows a recent tussle between the PML-N’s Punjab government and the PTI, after PA Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan suspended 26 opposition MPAs and sought their disqualification for their “unparliamentary conduct”.

However, days ago, in a significant step towards de-escalation of political tensions, Ahmad formally rejected the disqualification petitions following negotiations between the government and the opposition.

A notification by the assembly secretariat today said the 26 PTI lawmakers stood restored as MPAs.

The notification, a copy of which is available with Dawn.com, said that the earlier order to suspend the provincial assembly members was withdrawn. The order listed the names of the 26 PTI MPAs.

Three PTI lawmakers disqualified following convictions in May 9 cases

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has disqualified three lawmakers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) following their convictions in cases related to May 9 riots.

The ECP has issued notifications disqualifying Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Malik Ahmad Bhachar, and Ahmed Chattha.

The ECP also declared seats held by Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, Ahmad Khan Bhachar, and Ahmad Chattha vacant.

Ahmad Chattha and Malik Ahmad Bhachar were elected from NA-66 Wazirabad and PP-87 Mianwali, respectively. The election watchdog has also vacated the seat held by Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, who was elected as member of the upper house in 2021.

The ECP plans for by-elections on these seats in near future.

Anti-Terrorism Courts (ATCs) in Lahore and Sargodha sentenced the three PTI lawmkers to 10 years in prison in different May 9 cases of same nature.

Senator Ejaz Chaudhry along with other party leaders including Dr. Yasmin Rashid, former Punjab Governor Umar Sarfraz Cheema, Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed was awarded 10 years imprisonment each in a case pertaining to arson and vandalism on May 9, 2023.

The court acquitted Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the same case.

The trial court had pronounced its reserved verdict in the case related to rioting at Sherpao Bridge on May, following PTI founder Imran Khan’s arrest.

Another ATC in Sargodha jailed Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Malik Ahmad Bhachar, and Ahmed Chattha in the case, registered at the Musa Khel police station, pertained to the violent protests and vandalism that erupted in Mianwali following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan in a graft case.

Earlier, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan expressed deep concern over the potential disqualification of 39 parliamentarians belonging to the party in cases pertaining to May 9 riots.

In a statement, the PTI chairman feared that that 25 members of the Punjab Assembly, 11 Members of the National Assembly (MNAs), and three senators might be convicted in the cases.

Barrister Gohar said all PTI members in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly are also under threat of similar actions. He said that the total number would rise to 75 if their members are convicted November 26 cases.

“There is no parliamentarian, including myself, who does not face a case,” the PTI chairman said and added that at least six cases are registered against him.

After 3 years the Judges gave some of the weakest judgements possible because they were forced to at gun point. The independent judges were changed and total losers were air lifted in but even then, the judgements hold no water. One of the witnesses in the IK trial claimed that Zaman Park was around 1000m from gate to the house(its 2 canal in total) and he hid under the table and heard IK plan everything. The CCTV disappeared. I am sure @emranabbas can explain why. So far he makes the accusations but somehow he runs off every time I pose the question

What is there to "fact find"? We know who the culprits are, the world knows the criminals and they are already punished for it.
Well for a start where is the evidence? How many Police died? How many Soldiers died and where is the CCTV? @emranabbas
Said it was stolen by the PTI? Do you think like some stool on here that they are stand alone machines? Do you agree the main witness against IK was hiding under IKs table as he spoke to his party? And his house is 100s of Metres long from gate to the door?

I know your beghairati is legendary on here and you have run from pretty anything you post on here but let's see you explain where these mangoes came from.Who did this guy work for? Its shame that your old man didnt do what NS has done on many occasions and do a runner on that fateful night🤣🤣🥰🥰. May 9 cases: ATC hands Shibli Faraz, Omar Ayub, top PTI leaders 10 years in prison

A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Faislabad sentenced on Thursday top Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders to up to 10 years in prison in cases pertaining to May 9 protests.

Opposition leader in National Assembly Omar Ayub, opposition leader in Senate Shibli Faraz, Zartaj Gul, MNA Sahibzada Hamid Raza and former MNA Sheikh Rashid Shafiq - former interior minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed's nephew - were among the 108 PTI leaders convicted out of the 185 implicated in the cases while 77 others were acquited.

Around 60 of those convicted including Shibli Faraz, Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul and Hamid Raza were sentenced to 10 years in prison each while other convicts were each handed prison terms of three years.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry was acquitted along with Zain Qureshi, Khayal Kastro, Faizullah Kamoka, Rana Asad Mehmood Khan, Bilal Ashraf Basra, Haroon Rasheed, Amara Rasheed, Sahibzada Hassan Raza, and Kamran Warraich.

Shafiq was absent from court during the hearing and did not appear. He has reportedly gone into hiding to avoid arrest.

Warrants issued

Earlier today, ATC issued arrest warrants for 50 PTI leaders in connection with various protest-related cases registered at multiple police stations in the federal capital ahead of PTI's August 5 protest. The warrants were issued by Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain.

PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja called for a nationwide protest on August 5 last week, urging the public to support what he termed a “historic movement” for national sovereignty rather than mere political survival.

Raja condemned what he described as unconstitutional actions against PTI lawmakers and a broader crackdown on dissent. He specifically criticised the Punjab Assembly’s decision to send references against 26 PTI members to the Election Commission of Pakistan, calling the move unlawful and politically motivated, and asserted that PTI members would continue to raise their voices against this step.

The warrants for 41 PTI leaders were issued on Thursday, while arrest warrants for nine others had been issued earlier. The warrants were issued in a case number registered at Karachi Company Police Station.

Prominent names among those facing arrest include former President Arif Alvi, Abdul Qayyum Niazi, Shibli Faraz, Faisal Javed, Salman Akram Raja, Rauf Hassan, Murad Saeed, and Ahmad Niazi.

Arrest warrants have also been issued for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Asad Qaiser, Hammad Azhar, Atif Khan, Shoaib Shaheen, Azam Khan Swati, Omar Ayub, and Sahibzada Hamid Raza.

Other PTI members named in the warrants include Aleema Khanum, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Kanwal Shauzab, Shandana Gulzar, and Sher Afzal Marwat.

Faizabad protest case

In the Faizabad protest case, which pertains to demonstrations held over former prime minister Imran Khan's disqualification, the court maintained that the status of CM Ali Amin Gandapur as a proclaimed offender remains unchanged.

The court ordered Islamabad Police to arrest Gandapur, stating that the arrest warrants remain in effect. The court further directed that if any order exists from the Peshawar High Court, it must be complied with.

PTI leader Faisal Javed Khan and others appeared before the court. Upon a request from lawyers, the hearing was adjourned until August 6. The case against Ali Amin Gandapur and others is registered at Industrial Area Police Station.

March 18 protest

In a separate case pertaining to PTI leaders' protest on March 18, the ATC issued arrest warrants for PTI MNA from Faisalabad, Ali Afzal Sahi. Judge Tahir Abbas Supra, who also presided over this case, noted that "Ali Afzal Sahi has not appeared before this court to date". Arrest warrants were also issued for other absent PTI workers.

November 26 protest

Meanwhile, in the case registered at Secretariat Police Station related to the November 26 protest, the court dismissed the bail of an accused who repeatedly remained absent. Arrest warrants were issued for those not present at the hearing. A forensic report related to the case was submitted, and the next hearing was set for August 5.

The hearing of the November 26 case registered at Kohsar Police Station was also adjourned until August 4. Arrest warrants were issued for accused individuals who failed to appear.

Non-bailable arrest warrants have been issued for 15 PTI leaders, including Arif Alvi, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Kanwal Shauzab, Zubair Niazi, and Asad Qaiser, in connection with ten cases registered in Rawalpindi related to the November 26 protest, government prosecutors said Thursday.

Addressing a press conference outside an ATC in Rawalpindi, prosecutor Syed Zaheer Shah, flanked by district prosecutor Chaudhry Muhammad, stated that bail cancellation requests for 68 accused individuals have also been filed, along with separate applications against their guarantors.

Zaheer Shah said that delaying tactics by the accused will no longer be tolerated. In the case registered at Sadiqabad Police Station, nine out of 111 nominated individuals have already been convicted.

A total of 31 cases related to the November 26 protest have been registered in the Rawalpindi Division — including 20 in Attock, 10 in Rawalpindi, and one in Chakwal. Thirteen accused are currently on interim bail.

According to the prosecutor, the accused appear in court once and submit outdated medical reports to request adjournments. He said that investigations in all 31 cases have been completed, and after the issuance of non-bailable warrants, the accused typically secure protective bail from high courts.

Cop's killing in Taxilla

In a case involving the killing of a police officer in Taxila, Imran and Bushra Bibi are among the nominated accused.

ATC has further issued non-bailable arrest warrants in the Wah Cantt and Naseerabad cases for Arif Alvi, Ali Amin Gandapur, Omar Ayub, Asad Qaiser, Hammad Azhar, and 20 others.

Excellent job only mistake they made should have not acquitted any of these pti supporters

There is more than enough evidence to suggest PTI thugs and CCTV tampering...

The crack head? A guy that has survived 2 years in jail. Are you sure that you haven't been on the old stuff. Afterall if you can support murder and theft, this is an easy step. Its shame that your old man didnt do what NS has done on many occasions and do a runner on that fateful night🤣🤣🥰🥰. That at least would have saved us from another useless coward that has all the morals of an alley cat.
Who wouldn’t survive jail when they have an air conditioner, private doctor, gym access and is fed chicken and mutton?

Imran worshippers think he is getting a sip of water and a small bite of bread 🤣🤣🤣

This you said is hearsay or you have evidence / know this to be the truth? I know you come from an influential family so you might have access to information others aren't privy to which is why I'm asking.

In your knowledge the Government issued pictures of Imran's jail cell is incorrect then and media has published false news or disinformation.

Maybe we can put you in for 2 years. How about that. This sort of crap shows how easily it is to manipulate idiots like you. Maybe you can come on the @LordJames thread and actually justify his kidnapping, because without a single case of merit, thats what it is.

Zardari spent 10+ years in jail in harsher conditions.

We all remember what Imran said about Nawaz few years ago. He said, and I quote: “when you have an AC in your cell, half of Pakistan population will ask to be imprisoned”.

Remember, life comes at you fast. This payback for Imran. He is paying for his crimes and it was going to happen one day.

His arrogance and the cowardice of his supporters have brought him to his knees and his ended will be even worse.

No. Just did a deal and came out. He was treated with kid gloves and he was also guilty and that why is sitting in office. If he was innocent he would never have made a deal.
NS guilty as hell. Made a deal and left the party workers in jail and couldn't get to Jeddah fast enough the 1st time and London 2nd time.
The shamelessness of your post isnt even funny.

That is not the point. The point is that Zardari spent 10+ years in jail in harsher conditions so it’s not a miracle if the fake messiah hasn’t died after being imprisoned for 2 years in better conditions. However, he will die in jail if he is not granted asylum in the UK on the behest of his Zionist ex-wife and sons.

As far as Zardari is concerned, he was a far better President than Imran was as a PM.

It is the only point. If AZs prison sentences were real he wouldn't be sitting with the very people you claim locked him up. He was treated like a guest and not a prisoner and that's why is making billions alongside the same people

Dr Mamoon,

I am going to address you professionally and with respect and put a few medical facts to you.
  1. Asif Ali Zardari was in prison from 10 October 1990 -February 1993 and then from 06 November 1996- 11 November 2004.
  2. Aseefa Bhutto Zardari was born on 3 February 1993!
I am not accusing anyone of committing a sin as I don't do that, I am asking you as a Medical Doctor to comment if Asif Ali Zardari was under harsh conditions?

Secondly, you are talking about someone's "ex-wife" on what standard or metric is a person response for the actions of their "ex-wife"??? But lets break it down first:
  1. What is the evidence of Jemima Khan being a "Zionist"? Not her brothers but "her"? Should we hold you responsible for the views of your entire family?
  2. What is the evidence that Suliman and Kasim Khan are "not Muslims"? I have asked you this before in other threads as well.
Thirdly, in comparison to Zardari (see above) is Imran Khan allowed to see his family, please provide your professional opinion.

As I have been saying, lets hope that an educated and professional Pakistani you have the manners and the knowledge to have a polite, educated and informed conversation.

Thanks

Shibli Faraz, Zartaj Gul get interim relief from PHC

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday granted protective bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Shibli Faraz and Zartaj Gul, who were recently sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in connection with the May 9 riots, Express News reported.

The bench, after announcing the reserved verdict on their petition, allowed both leaders bail until August 11 and directed them to approach the relevant high court to file their appeals within this period.

The court also ordered that the two not be arrested during this time.

The decision follows last week’s ruling by a special anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Faisalabad, which sentenced over 100 PTI leaders for their alleged involvement in the May 9 unrest.AI-driven automation softwareCultural tourism packages

Among those convicted were Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub, Senate Opposition Leader Shibli Faraz, Zartaj Gul, MNA Sahibzada Hamid Raza, and former MNA Sheikh Rashid Shafiq. The ATC acquitted 77 out of the 185 individuals implicated in the cases.

Subsequently, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday disqualified nine PTI-affiliated lawmakers, including Ayub and Faraz.

A notification issued by the commission declared one Senate and five National Assembly seats vacant, along with three Punjab Assembly seats. Others disqualified include Zartaj Gul, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Junaid Afzal Sahi, Rai Hassan Nawaz, Rai Murtaza Iqbal, Rai Haider Ali, and Ansar Iqbal.

It is pertinent to mention that last month, a Lahore ATC had sentenced ten PTI leaders, including Dr Yasmin Rashid, to up to 10 years in prison, while an ATC in Sargodha handed a similar sentence to PTI Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader Malik Ahmed Khan Bhachar and other party workers.Cultural tourism packages

May 9 Riots

The May 9 riots erupted nationwide following the arrest of former prime minister Imran Khan, after which PTI leaders and workers staged protests targeting both civil and military installations, including Jinnah House and the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

The military condemned the events as a "Black Day" and decided to try the protesters under the Army Act.

As a result of the unrest, many PTI members were arrested and tried in military courts. In December, a military court convicted 25 individuals, including Imran Khan’s nephew, Hassan Khan Niazi, and later sentenced 60 more.

In January, 19 convicts had their sentences pardoned following successful mercy appeals, although PTI expressed dissatisfaction over the limited number of pardons.

The military trials had initially been halted following a Supreme Court ruling but were resumed following the court's instructions to finalise pending cases and announce judgments for those involved in the violent incidents.

@emranabbas
Where is the CCTV? Were they stand alone cameras that got stolen by the PTI as you claimed. People have had their lives destroyed and are in jail based on a lie so dont you think its important to have all the evidence available and not just have all the judges reading the Brigadiers verdicts red out

PTI’s Zartaj Gul, Ejaz Chaudhry appeal to LHC against ATC convictions in May 9 riots cases

PTI leaders Zartaj Gul and Ejaz Chaudhry filed appeals in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Saturday against their convictions by anti-terrorism courts (ATC) in May 9 riots cases.

On May 9, 2023, PTI supporters, protesting party founder Imran Khan’s arrest, staged violent protests throughout the country, following which thousands were arrested.

On July 31 this year, an ATC in Faisalabad sentenced PTI leaders, including Gul, to 10 years of imprisonment for their involvement in the riots. The Election Commission of Pakistan later disqualified her and other PTI lawmakers following their convictions. Chaudhry was convicted in another May 9 case by an ATC in Lahore on July 22 and sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Gul filed an appeal against her conviction and sentencing in the LHC today. A division bench of the LHC will hear the case on Monday.

The appeal was filed through Gul’s lawyers, Barrister Ali Zafar and Muhammad Hussain, and pleaded the court to set aside her conviction and acquit her in the case.

It said that Gul was not nominated in the case or “found physically participant in the occurrence”. It added that no justification was provided by the prosecution for her being included through the supplementary statement, which it claimed cast doubt on the authenticity of the occurrence which had not been considered at the trial stage.

It stated that the ATC passed the “impugned judgment … in a hasty and slipshod manner”, based on three witnesses who had admitted in cross-examination that they had not nominated her but she was nevertheless convicted on their statements with a hefty punishment.

“The prosecution has failed to make out a case for such a punishment,” the petition argued, adding that the witnesses themselves had many times misstated and “cheated” the trial court with additions and deletions in their statements making their testimonies unreliable, but ultimately all exonerated the appellant.

“The other ATC court at Sargodha has disbelieved the same prosecution witnesses … but this is ignored in making (the) impugned decision,” it said.

It also stated that no evidence for conspiracy had been brought forward on the case file, challenging her punishment under section 120-B of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The petition pleaded that as “the prosecution also failed to establish the involvement of the appellant in the occurrence and instigation/abetment beyond the shadow of doubt, then there were no reasons to award punishment to the innocent appellant.”

It stated that the judgment was against “facts and law and resulted in (a) misreading of justice” and that, being passed hastily, material parts of evidence were not considered “despite the facts that the prosecution failed to adduce unimpeachable evidence and there was (every) chance of false implication”.

In particular, it cited the lack of material evidence to establish the intention to abet, instigate and conspire to facilitate the other accused parties. According to the petition, the investigation was “biased” and “flawed” but this was ignored by the court. It further criticised that more weight was given to witness statements than evidence by the court, failing to “properly appreciate” the prosecution’s evidence.

It added that 77 co-accused had been acquitted based on the same evidence, while Gul was convicted without valid reasoning.

The petition called for the judgment to be set aside as the case had not been proven “beyond the shadow of a doubt” due to a lack of unimpeachable evidence, adding that the evidence contained contradictions. It called the judgment of the court “arbitrary, capricious, indiscrete, non-speaking and without lawful authority based on no evidence”.

The petition noted that Gul was seeking leave from the court to advance further grounds at the time of argument.

Meanwhile, Chaudhry filed two petitions in the LHC through Advocate Mian Ali Ashfaq.

Chaudhry pleaded the court to suspend his sentence and conviction, along with ordering his release on bail.

He further requested the court in the second petition to set aside his conviction and acquit him in the case in the “interest of justice”.

ATC reserves verdicts on two May 9 cases involving Chaudhry, Rashid, Qureshi, others
Separately, the Lahore ATC reserved its verdicts in two arson cases related to the May 9 riots, in which PTI senior leaders Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Chaudhry and Omar Cheema are accused, with the judge slated to announce the decisions on August 11.

According to Advocates Rana Mudassar and Rana Maroof, who represented the PTI leaders during the hearing, the trials in the cases of burning vehicles outside Rahat Bakery and arson near Shadman Nazar were completed and ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul reserved his verdict.

They said the verdicts would be issued on Monday.

They said a total of 25 accused were named in the Rahat Bakery case, while seven accused were declared absconders. They added that the trial of 12 accused was completed in the Shadman Nazar police station arson case and five accused were in custody in this case, while one accused had died.

The lawyers said Qureshi, Dr Rashid, Chaudhry, Cheema, Mian Mahmoodur Rashid and other accused were present in the courtroom.

PTI lawmakers awarded imprisonment in more cases

Anti-Terrorism Court, which acquitted PTI’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi, awarded 10 years imprisonment each to PTI’s lawmakers, including former governor Umar Sarfraz Cheema, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Ijaz Ch, Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed, in two different cases registered against them in response to May 9 riots.

The ATC judge also awarded 5 years imprisonment each to PTI’s Alia Hamza and PTI’s social activist Sanam Javed.

Earlier, the ATC court had reserved decisions after hearing in detail the arguments from both sides at Kot Lakhpat jail on two cases, ‘Shadman police station attack and burning of police vehicles near Jinnah House, at Kot Lakhpat jail.

The accused side’s counsel argued that no concrete evidence is available to establish any link of the accused persons with the charges levelled in the FIR.

They argued that politically motivated cases had been registered against the accused persons merely to humiliate and blackmail them, adding that they were implicated in forged cases.

Prosecution implored the court that there is substantial and cogent evidence against the accused persons, which shows they incited the public to commit the offence.

It added that the accused persons are fully involved in the offence they committed on May 9 in light of damaging state properties, setting ablaze police vans, creating law and order, anarchy chaos.

However, the ATC court announced a verdict and imprisoned the PTI’s lawmakers.

Talking to The Express Tribune, one of PTI’s counsels, Rana Mudassar Umar, said that the trials in the cases of burning vehicles outside Rahat Bakery and arson near Shadman police station had been completed.

He said a total of 25 accused were named in the Rahat Bakery case, while seven accused were declared absconders.

He further said that the trial of 12 accused was completed in the Shadman police station arson case, and five accused were in custody in this case, while one accused had died.

Punjab govt issued notice on Imran's bail pleas in May 9 cases

Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi-led bench on Tuesday issued notice to the Punjab government on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan's bail petitions against Lahore High Court (LHC) verdict in May 9 violence cases.

The development came as a three-member SC bench resumed hearing on a set of pleas filed by the PTI founder against rejection of bail applications by the LHC in May 9 cases.

During the proceedings, CJP Afridi noted that certain findings had been attached to the bail petitions. He said that, for now, the court would neither comment on whether those findings were correct nor examine the legal aspects of the matter at this stage.

The top judge was of the view that the court was only issuing notices in today's hearing as discussing the legal findings at this stage could affect either party in the case.

The CJP asked whether final observations can be given in the bail plea.

"The lawyers of both sides should assist on legal questions and the lawyers should prepare on legal issues by the next hearing," said the chief justice.

The hearing of the case has been adjourned until August 19.

The former prime minister had filed petitions in the apex court under Article 185(3) of the Constitution for granting leave to appeal against the Order dated June 24, 2025 passed by the LHC, in Criminal Miscellaneous application dismissing his post arrest bail in May 9 incidents

Imran presently incarcerated in Adiala jail had prayed the apex court to grant him post arrest bail in FIR No. 103/2023 dated 12.05.2023 registered under Sections 324, 395, 436, 427, 290, 291, 148, 149, 337L(ii), 34, 109, 120-B, 121, 121A, 131, 146, 153, 153-A, 153-B and 505 of PPC, 1860, read with Section 7 of ATA, 1997, at Police Station Sarwar Road, Lahore.

On June 24, 2025, the learned Lahore High Court through its impugned order had dismissed the post-arrest bail petition of Imran Niazi with the observation that the offences alleged against the petitioner fall within the prohibitory clause of section 497 Cr.P.C while learned counsel for the petitioner remained unable to hint at availability of circumstances sufficient to make this case one of further inquiry into petitioner’s guilt.

The court had held that the case of present petitioner is distinguishable from that of all co-accused.
