Why was an out-of form Hassan Ali picked over the very impressive Naseem Shah?

I just can't get how Hassan Ali seems to lose his form right when it matters the most, WC 2019 and T20 WC 2021. I think he needs to be managed a lot better so he's fresh and fit to explode in ICC tourneys
 
This was an example of where a players recent form needs to be taken into account when selecting a team. Hassan Ali along with Shaheen had done well in test cricket in 2021 but a case could be made that he did it against weak opposition

Garbage bowling continues now into ODI format. seems Babar will pick him no matter what.
 
Babar defended hasan in T20 world cup, then the Aussie test series. clearly just picking his mate even though hes not performing

At 1st i thought he should just be kept away from white ball teams but hes been shamolic in tests recent as well.
 
To be Hasan is just mind boggling. The guy needs a break from cricket.
 
Babar yaar hunn taan rab da khauff kar.
Oh man he has been a serial loser for the team in all formats for months now.
He has to be kicked out for his pathetic performance in all formats.
I don't know how bad he has to perform to be dropped from the squad.
 
He is out of form. Logical way would be rest him and send him back to first class.

But since he is Babar's friend, he will continued to be picked over other options.
 
Not out of form but totally finished we saw it at world Cup writing was on the wall.
 
Naseem was the pick of all bowlers in the Test series. Hasan is too short and too slow to bother an international batsman. He let fame get to his head after the champions trophy and stopped focusing on cricket.

He could get by with his lack of height when he was bowling in the 140s but he has lost his pace now.
 
Hassan ali would be the downfall of Babar. First it will cost him his captaincy and then eventually it will cost Babar his career.

His captaincy would remain pathetic as long as there is a guy named Hassan ali in the playing eleven. Hassan should immediately be dropped for an year.

Babar should be sacked due to consistently picking Hassan Ali who looks lost and confused
 
The selectors and management must be taken to task for continuing to pick him in white ball cricket so close to major events and robbing naseem shah of important game time.
Hasan ali should not be playing these games prior to major events as he has no role to play in his current form

Abdullah would be upgrade on Saud in odis as he can play the big shot azwell.Am not sure how Shan Masood can get into this odi line up.

We might have won the 2nd ODI, but we still have issues with team keeping their buddies in the squad, for example why is SHadab Khan still with squad if he is injured. friendships keeping players in in the squad it will come back to bite us.
 
I think its clear now that Hasan Ali needs to make way for others based on his recent poor form..Hopefully PAK keeps performing in the bowling department in future and they dont get a chance to bring him back right before the ODI world Cup and ruin our chances..

The dancer is back with a bang. What an awful cricketer he is. I can't wait for the day we finally get rid of him.

Including him in the side killed the balance, and he performed as expected.

Seems the moment he comes in Pakistan loses.
 
Hasan Ali is an opposition player right now.
He performs with the ball and in the field for opposition team.
As long as he is in the ground opposition knows we are not out of the game.
 
He need a 6 months break from all kind of cricket and should play the upcoming season in October to get back in to rythm.
 
He was a deserving selection for ODIs as well. He was brilliant in test and even in PSL.
 
Hasan failed miserably in T20, in WC and PSL, Babar played him in tests , he failed in tests , Babar included him in ODI Hasan failed in ODI and got dropped , then Babar put him back in T20 and Hasan Ali been very persistent , failed again in T20.

Now, what's next for Hasan Ali ??
 
He still deserves to be in the test squad. Never did well in T20I.
ODI'S he at least need a rest.

He’s starting to behave like a film star

One good tournament and the guy thinks he’s on par with legends of Pakistan cricket
 
If Hassan and his fans take pride in the fact that he had an outstanding CT17

They should also know that Fakhar Zaman played and even bigger role in Pakistan’s success in that tournament. He came into the side and changed the entire complexion of Pakistan’s campaign. Yet I see Fakhar not once show off with pride, arrogance and trying to make his presence/importance known.

This is a man who has become more and more humble with the success he has attained instead of becoming more and more of a star and show off.

One thing i have noticed is that pakistani people dont understand different personalities.

If someones personality differs than the usual, you lot will think thay he is trying to act cool erc and than bash him for his personality.

What you are describing in your post is the personality of fakhar zaman and hasan ali. Both are different personality and it has nothing to do with ct17.

Hasan ali was like this even before ct17. I remember when he came in the psl 2016, the guy was being noticed due to the personality he has and the way he likesto joke aeound and enjoy life. Even in the test series when selected he was having fun and joking around..

Fakhar zaman os dofferent more reserved.

Habing bad form is one tjing, but for gods sake dont bash players for their personalities.

Shanawaz dhani also has a personality that has made him famous even before debutting or performing at pakistan level. Yet there are fools like shahid afridi who felt threaten by this personality

Stop confusing persobality with performance.

Ridiculous. Pakistan will never been a top team until it is ruthless in discarding underperforming players like Australia. Even India has recently begun discarding passed it players compared to before when they kept on an expired Sachin/Dravid etc.

Hassan Ali has achieved far less in his career compared to solid bowlers that get discarded very quickly after underperformance. Its time for us to move on with Naseem and Dahani. Let Hassan play in domestic until he proves himself again.

I have watched Hassan emerge, rise and fall in cricket

He was not a Shokha, show off or wannabe on his way up to the top. He is a clear example of fame and success getting to his head but not being able to cope with it when the chips are down for him as a player.

The Hassan we saw come through was not the natural antagonist (Harris Rauf) that he became due to popularity

There are people who are introvert and there are people who are extrovert.

Hassan seems to be an extrovert who enjoys life and that bothers you for some weird reason that you blame it for his bad performance.

He didnt used to go. He did it once. There is a ceremony that takes place at wagah border and people like to get patriotic watching that.

Chacha crixket is often found there..

As they rightfully should. He is a match winner and has been an incredible bowler after his comeback.

However, they have enough good options in T20's to warrant not playing him in T20's anymore. He still makes sense in Tests & ODI's. People may disagree with the ODI part but right now, they lack a clear 3rd bowler for ODI's after Shaheen & Rauf. Maybe Naseem/Dahani etc develops into that but it remains to be seen. For now, he makes sense in Tests & ODI's.
 
Looks like Hasan Ali has become a galactico for us like he is undroppable sickening mentality even in peak he is just a very good cricketer not world class

Hasan isn't doing anything in odis either so It's not like replacing him is a gamble... I mean it's kinda hard to do worse than Hasan right now.

He was absolutely pathetic in wc19 too. It's no point giving him easy odi games so that he gets some cheap wickets when we know for sure he will be the weak link every time it really matters.
Yes, he should be in the test team for now.

Dahani is a bowler of far far higher caliber. It's not very hard to see.
 
Dahani has been patiently waiting in the wings, Hassan is going away to Lancs maybe a good time for him to take some time off from the international scene and let Pakistan try some new blood.

They should certainly give both Dahani & Naseem a shot in ODI's but it doesn't mean Hasan has to be discarded forever to do that is all I am saying. You can rest him for the series, you can include him & have him on the bench.

The interesting thing about the upcoming WC in India, Pakistan are likely to go with two spinners (Nawaz/Shadab) along with Shaheen/Rauf and likely Wasim Jr. as the 3rd pacer but they are lacking depth and options in case of injuries.

Hasnain would be another option if he can clean up his action.
 
Hasan Ali is a weird one. Burst on the scene and had a stellar tournament in the Champions trophy but then flops and is eventually dropped. Comes back at the beginning of last year, does well in test matches especially. His form flopped since the T20 World Cup and will get dropped again soon.

Does he work hard enough when he is on form or get complacent which then leads to his form to go down again?

He has failed now for months in EVERY format... he better not be selected in the next squad

That was almost 5 years ago though? He is not the same player at all. Not the same speed, accuracy or hunger. The fame clearly got to his head. He should be playing domestic cricket until he is performing again at an international standard. Your attitude is the exact reason why we are a mediocre team...

Big chance for Hassan to get his form back in County and make himself useful for Pakistan.

Problem with Naseem is his injuries seem to come too frequently which could help Hassan's case but not good for Pakistan, as I would want him to earn his place on merit and not because no other bowler's around.
