Misbah speaking to the media:

Did Misbah "run away" from his role as Pakistan Head Coach?

"As I have said before, but let me say that such decisions (leaving role as Pakistan Coach) are not unilaterally made - these are mutual decisions. I didn't have to "run away" - especially when I had been with the side for two years and stood by them and worked with them - Why would I run away from this? The decision was taken after a mutual understanding was reached and everyone knows this"

Reasons for team performing very well now

"There is no need to look for reasons like that. The team was also performing well on and off during our (Misbah/Waqar) times. We performed really well in our own conditions and also won in South Africa, and if we look at the tour of England we didn't play the T20I series that well and even there it was the last game which could have gone either way. Against the West Indies, you all saw how we did in the 2 Tests. So overall, our performances were good but in the T20 World Cup our confidence level was great and conditions in UAE which Pakistan has always done well in, suited us too. But credit must be given to the Team Management also and to the team for playing so well"

"I say well done to those who those who think that the team has played well due to my leaving"

"Fact is that all we want is for Pakistan to do well - We are not into point scoring or making it look like that this team was built by us"

"The credit for success goes to Babar Azam and Saqlain Mushtaq because they have all performed well"

Mohammad Nawaz not played in the T20 World Cup as Pakistan played an unchanged side - was that a mistake?

"If we look at it this way then why not also criticize New Zealand who played the same XI throughout the T20 World Cup campaign - they just had make forced changes only. Even Australia after one game played an unchanged XI, regardless of whicever side they played against. England also played the same XI barring a change due injury - Does this mean that all of these teams were wrong?"

"Imad was preferred over Nawaz as captain felt that Imad's past performances in UAE were good but I feel that Nawaz will play an important role in the future including in the 2023 World Cup which will be held in Asian conditions. He is a 3-dimensional player, good fielder, can bat at any position"

The captain and management show no trust on nawaz the batsman even though whenever i have seen him bat he has looked calm and mature. And often ends the inning well. Nawaz has a far higher ceiling than imad in every aspect. He can play the role we wanted hafeez to play throughout his career.i.e., a no 6 batsman and a bowler who bowls 7 to 10 overs every innings.
He can also be tried in place of the spinners we are currently playing in test match

That’s exactly what you did. A shameless person is this Misbah fellow. Though it doesn’t matter since you have been kicked out our team already looks better. Please don’t get involved any thing related with Pakistan cricket.

I tend to think it was more of Ramiz booting them out.

Yes, Ramiz booted them out, however, Misbah did run away at the last moment. He could've stayed till the end of WC and then resign. Ramiz wouldn't have removed them before the WC. He left the Team midway. This should be a lesson for PCB

nope.

Rameez was doing a tamasha that Misbah would be coach but during the NZ and ENg series, Misbah would be forcefully rested as coach while someone else is made coach. Later for the World Cup they would make him coach again for one last time.

It was ridiculous

If's and but's, I feel Ramiz wouldn't have changed the management before the WC. But he sure would have changed it after the WC, and rightly so.

not ifs and but, Waseem Khan conveyed exactly this to Misbah after calling him in which is why Misbah decided to leave. It was widely reported in the news.

It was highly disrespectful from Rameez aswell as from Waseem Khan.

You can fire him, that doesnt matter. But to say sit out and we will call you back for the world t20 is just ridiculous

But thats exactly what he and Waqar did, they ran away. Thankgod or else WC would've been an embarrassment.

you're saying it as if he called you instead of Misbah, don't believe everything that's reported in the media. Both Misbah and Waqar have said that they had a feeling that they would be fired. Basically, it was a proactive step, unfortunately, this proactive approach was absent when he was coach and selector.
In his latest interview, Misbah specifically said that it was due to the team which was selected.

if you are not gonna accept what gets reported in media than i think there is no purpose of media exsiting and the amounts of discussion that we do would stand baseless.

Media reports regarding Misbah and Waseem Khan meeting take place were accurate as the same reports had earlier reported that waseem would meet Misbah to convey him what is gonna happen.

Ajmal who is a good friend of Misbah also confirmed the above story taht took place.

Now its up to you to accept it or not

yellow journalism, propaganda, fake news, misinformation ring a bell?
did PCB or Waseem or Misbah or even Waqar confirm it? no
but media reported it so it must be true, if we apply the same logic then it was 'reported in the media' that A.Flower will replace Misbah after the South Africa tour, why didn't he resign then?

Now it's up to you to accept it or not and guess what I already know your answer.

everything is not fake news and yellow journalism. Misbah is friends with Ajmal who also revealed a good chunk.

Anyways, you can watch A Sports clips of the pavillion and you will find alot of times Waqar and Misbah hinting out what had transpired.

Everyone knows the news was true of him being rested on purpose, you are the only one who wants to deny it.

Misbah used this role as a bit of an apprenticeship, clever guy. He should now put his ego aside and do some academy or FC coaching if he intends to develop his skills further legitimately.

He was only interested in his own stats, be it as a captain or coach. Never gave impression of building a team for future.

As a human, he is a great man. Wish him all the best.

Misbah-ul-Haq Likely To Become Chief Coach Of Afghanistan Cricket Team

Former Pakistan skipper Misbah-Ul- Haq is likely to become the next head coach of the Afghanistan Cricket Team. He resigned as the head coach of the Pakistan Cricket team ahead of the T20 World Cup last year and since then has been looking for his next opportunity in cricket coaching.

Meanwhile, along with Misbah, former Pakistan cricketer Azhar Mahmood is another potential candidate for the role. The Afghans were coached by Lance Klausner, who did not renew his contract for another stint. He stepped down after the T20 World Cup last year. Under his tenure, Afghanistan won three Test matches, three out of six ODIs and nine out of 14 T20Is.

Wow! This is unexpected.

All the best to Afghanistan and Misbah.

Afghanistan wants to destroy and eliminate whatever natural flair they have?

Enjoying himself in Oman at the moment...

Misbah's notable achievements as head coach were in Test cricket. While his record of seven wins and six losses in 16 Tests may not be dazzling, it showed significant progress compared to his predecessor Arthur, who had ten wins and 17 losses in 28 matches.

Winning against SL and SA series at home were his accomplishments. Not winning the WI series stung. Should have done better in England as well. He couldn't teach either Babar or Azhar to put the choke on opposition through spinners for which Azhar and Babar need to be blamed as well.
A few good things he did were dropping Asad Shafiq and Shan and bringing in Naseem to tests. Fahim did well in tests during his tenure even though I don't rate Fahim much.

Why did he drop his Colleague Asad Shafiq from Test Squad?

poor form and asad's inability to step up after MisYou's retirements. It was a good decision.
Shafiq deserved to be dropped but so did Azhar because between the post Younis/Misbah period and Shafiq getting dropped, Shafiq had outperformed Azhar.

Azhar though still had credit in the bank for his 2016-17 purple patch. Nonetheless, he also deserved to be dropped for not only failing to perform but for also failing to outperform Shafiq.

wait we won the WI series, it was his last series as captain

Think he's talking about the 2021 tour. That was another one of Babar Azam's Captaincy Masterclasses in the 1st Test.

Kept the field spread for Nos 9 and 11 Kemar Roach and Jayden Seales like they were prime Viv Richards and Clive Lloyd despite needing just one more wicket to win.

Thank god that dope is no longer captain.
