Where is the so called democracy, secular values, tolerant, liberal values, progressive and respectful of minorities Indian people, society at large?

Will they prove that India is not a racist, nazi, and fascist country by stopping Modi, uprising against him and over throwing him from the office?

Or will they delightfully sit back, smiling and happily agreeing with his agenda, policies and being complicit in his crimes

Hopefully they don't. We don't want them coming to their senses now do we

It's not the 2010s way.

Welcome to the world of Donald Trump, Boris Johnson, Narendra Modi, Erdogan, etc. etc.

No actually more and more people are going to support him now considering the burns he's given to people in the neighbouring country like you. You are opening these threads with intention of trying to Shame Indians into electing Modi because deep down you hate him , nobody cares about fitting into your narrative of a Secular, Tolerant, Liberal country.

no ....secular, tolerant peace loving India actually needs Modi...... to reject these type of pucca partial laws that give undue privileges of epic proportions to a minor section of people when compared to the remaining vast majority & that too for such lengthy periods. It is for Pakistanis only that scratching such laws are acts of ' racist, nazi, and fascist etc etc' . For vast majority of Indians with basic common sense it is an act of great justice.

We're trying Savak. Believe us, we are trying. I hope we can give you the gift of Indian secularism again. I on my part am trying to educate the right wing masses of the ills of religious extremism and what it is like to be secular.

I AM TRYING TO PASS OFF AS ANOTHER NATIONALITY PWOAR!!!

Edited for accuracy.

Varun, it's time to join our hands together and spread peace and love in our countries again. Don't you think that's a reasonable request?

Edited for accuracy v2.

Why would anyone overthrow an elected government? If Indians don't like his decisions, they will have to put the ruling party out of work in the next election.

Indian secularism is dying

I am sure crores of Indians all across the nation would be keenly following the reactions of the Kashmiri people & Pakistanis w.r.t just scrapping a bill that has been unfairly treating the vast majority of other sections of the people other than Kashmiris for decades.
If any, these type of reactions are only helping to make Modi stronger in the longer run.

Generalizing Indians based on twitter is a Good as the sample size is similar to our population.

My father owned and operated halal fastfood and there is no hatred atleast in South India ,if anything you should teach your fellow American Pakistanis as to what is halal meat when they claim everything in America is halal and Zabiha is just one way of it.(yup am Generalizing)

You perhaps are appealing to those who tried to peddle minority appeasement as secularism. There are plenty of those in India. BJP has put a complete stop to that nonsense and I can see why that is bothering you and the likes of Ram Shekhar

Also very ironic that a Pakistani poster should even talk about secularism.

WE ARE TRYING

Gifts such as sharia, seperate muslim laws that allowed triple talaq and 4 wives, and in general encouraged muslims to take up projects like torching trains carrying Hindu pilgrims etc.

Sure go ahead and tell us how your brand of "Secularism" is the way forward.

Don't divert the topic. People are not being given basic democratic rights. They are being lynched based on their religion. They are being asked to say things they don't want to say if they do not, they're being killed. Yes, this is the new India we're living in. It's not my brand or your brand, people should have basic humanitarian rights to live. Fascist BJP government is not giving minorities those. I won't be surprised if another partition happens at some point in the foreseeable future.

Don't divert the topic.

Not at all. The things I mentioned in my previous posts were the "Gifts" of secularism that Congress gave us in the past. You stated in your post that you want to bring that back again. So go ahead explain how those "Gifts" are secular.

Sure but these things happened in the past too. infact there were more riots under Congress governments.

How many religious lynchings happened under Congress? Don't lie for the sake of your argument. Prove with stats else stop quoting me foolishly. I didn't talk about riots - let's not even go there as we saw what happened in 2002.

Riots are far worse than any lynching. And its a well known fact that there has been no major riot in the country in the last 5 years.

And I see you brazenly avoided my point about the gifts of secularism that were given by past Congress govt ?

Congress government treated everyone equally. Yes, that is a mistake probably to the fascist crowd, but seculars like me don't find it wrong. With all the fake news peddling around, it's no wonder you think everything is right with our country right now.

Really ? Congress treated everybody equally ? Lets see some facts ... Remember the 1984 Sikh riots ? Do you know what Indira Gandhi did to Sadhus protesting in Delhi ? I can go on and on but this is for starters.

And you don't find anything wrong in triple talaq , sharia and Muslim personal law ? This is perfectly secular for you ?

With all the fake news peddling around, it's no wonder you think everything is right with our country right now.

Its actually the other way round. Unless you think the 100s of millions who overwhelmingly supported and elected BJP twice are all fools and you are the only clever one. Have some shame

Indian secularism is dying

Halal food is forbidden for Sikhs and even many hindus.

So democracy is only okay as long as it keeps electing members with one set of 'acceptable' values?

A good % of Indians voted for Modi. A good % is supporting him on removal of 370/35A.

How many protests by the common man (bar the opposition parties and clear Modi haters) do you see in India? In fact, it is the opposite - people have been celebrating and feeling optimistic about this move.

For the good or bad, true or false, BJP has managed to created an image of itself as a party that gets things done and is willing to get its hands dirty for it.

It's managed it at a time Congress has a leadership vacuum and has no clear ideology or vision that appeals to the masses.

Everything the BJP does, everyone of them right from the top leadership to the grass root worker all seem to be on one page, speaking with same passion.

Congress on the other hand is a divided and confused house. Rahul Gandhi was all but a one man army fighting all of BJP and its trolls alone in the last election. I felt pity for him.

It is strange and annoying how Congress finds itself at the opposite end of every populist move of the BJP government. They've alienated themselves.

Politics is all about sensing the pulse of the nation and capitalizing on it. Gone are the days when few popular leaders dictated their will on people. Today public opinion dictates to leaders.

Congress's intellectual capital and liberal mindset is impressive but it is not winning them elections.

BJP took a stand, for the good or bad, on the Kashmir matter, something was Congress was quietly sitting over for 70 years. Some people may hate them for it but overwhelming majority of Indians , including even traditional Congress vote bank, is the matter's been taken head on for once. Every one is freaking tired of Kashmir. People wish to move on and are willing to let a government play the end game.

I think BJP will stay for another 10 years minimum. They have started their own Congressesque era.

I honestly can't see Modi not being re-elected every term until his death. Congress is in shambles and their reputation has only gone from bad to worse in the last 5 or so years and is in no position to challenge the Modi wave. Modi has to be one of, if not the most popular political leader in independent India's history and BJP is riding on his popularity alone.

When the economy goes off the rails, that's when Modi will feel the heat.

So far so good though. 99% of Indians don't care about Kashmir - it doesn't make a difference to their daily lives.

Our economy has been bit struggling these days though.

dont think people like u are in majority in india at the min... looks like the peace loving majority is shrinking at an alarming rate ...

We shouldnot elect a PM for more than two consecutive terms. That goes for Modi and Bjp too.

Yes, not many secular people in my country. But worry not, we are trying to bring the change. Hopefully we can go back to our roots again!

I for one , though a BJP supporter has lots of differences in opinions with Modi's several matters. Infact I hate a few BJP ministers & leaders to such extends that I don't regret a bit even in their demise on the spot. But despite all these, this move by Modi to scratch this '370/35A' law has prompted me to keep aside all the differences and support him to the core.
I now am watching the reactions of the Kashmiris & Pakistanis keenly w.r.t taking off a law that has been 'discriminating the huge majority of the population' against a very few minority Kashmiri population for decades.
So this was such a heartening move by Modi keeping in mind the security ,safety & well being of all population with out discriminating any one based on divisive factors. I am sure there are crores of people thinking like me after this event.

Do tell us how these "roots" you harp about are sooo secular to begin with. How is seperate laws for Muslims be considere secular?

I hope you will have the guts ti answer these questions directly without evading them or trying to deflect.

It’s pretty obvious the guy you are arguing with is trolling and is most likely a right winger himself trying to make the other side “look bad”. His trolling isn’t even subtle.
